I know in the book you are meant to fall in love with Ryle and be shocked when the abuse starts but am I the only one who thought he was a walking red flag from the get go ?
Exactly
I thought so too.
I mean as viewers we saw the red flags but Lily couldnt cause she was attracted to him. Isnt that how most abusive relationships start? Everybody else can see the red flags except the victims themselves
@@xoxoMoteland we're meant to feel sorry for them 😅
@@xoxoMotel 100%- I never thought of it like that x
8:01 GET OUT OF MY RESTAURANT!! He really meant that damn
I think the book Lily isn't as jumpy and hyper as her movie counterpart. It's hard to explain, like the book Lily gave off a serene, calm vibe, but Blake is kind of jittery, like she can't stay still and quiet for long.
Book Lily had a look of inner turmoil tho. At least to me, she came off as pretty conflicted, esp when she was battling staying vs leaving. The "you can stop swimming now" was sort of like a 'you can finally rest' to me. So idk I kinda feel like the 'nervous energy' vibe works?
I think the movie version of her works better. An abused person is never "serene".
What a tough job for Ryle’s actor, he was also the director of the movie.
Imagine acting, while also having to think of the lighting, and pacing, and cuts and blocking among many other things.
P.S. Blocking refers to the movement of actors during the scene, so that they don’t get out of focus and the body language performance seems as real as the facial one.
He's so respectful in interviews, you can tell he truly believed this story could help victims of DV. I really hope to see more of his work.
When she realized it was him it was peace and proof people make a difference in our lives even on PAUSE 😢
True. Same with people who do harm and cause chaos to someone for no reason.
There's no love in evil.
Honestly nobody wanted Blake to play this role.
Why ?
damn right
Nobody wanted Justin to play Ryle either and people wanted atlas to be Dylan O’Brien or someone else
Atlas is the only one i actually like in the movie
Would’ve been solid for amber heard I feel 🤷🏼♀️
Many people keep saying that Blake wasn't right for this role because she looks old but I personally disagree. Her and Justin both did a great job. Her acting was spot on and really made me feel the emotions of someone in an abusive relationship. Yall can stop hating for no good reason.
People say her interviews “support abuse” I don’t think so although I haven’t watched many of them
I don’t think it’s hating to think she’s too old to play the part of a 23 year old.
@ you have people acting middle school shows that are 39
@@giraffewhiskers2045 She was a bit catty towards someone who was giving her an interview. It was hardly abusive, just a bit catty. The interviewer said "congrats on your little bump" and Blake replied with "congrats on YOUR little bump!" Turns out the interviewer had fertility issues so that comment upset her a lot. I mean... Blake didn't know that 🤣
I mean, Blake does come across as very self-absorbed. I think a lot of people were unhappy that she was promoting her cosmetics line and trying to push this "girl power" marketing strategy in conjunction with this movie. I, personally, don't think she deserved the absolute dog-piling she got, but you know what folks are like, any excuse to "cancel" a celeb. They've all moved on to the Wicked lady now for criticising a poster 😒
This movie seems really serious but i know that if i watch it i won't be able to stop laughing every time they say the names atlas and ryle the two most ridiculous wattpad names😂
Still don’t think Blake Lively was right for the role here. Don’t know why, her face just doesn’t suit it
You’re wrong. ❤
You are right 💛✨
Agree. Too old to play a 23 years old Lily Bloom.
@ Because she was 23 in the movie. Duh. 🙄
@ and too commercial looking it she kind of gives sitcom vibes like Friends or the Big Bang theory not a serious gritty film 🍿
that little smack she does at 8:07 lol
Yeah right i found it very funny.
Okay so a lot of people are saying this movie doesn’t portray dv very well it actually does he mentally, physically, and emotionally abused her, Lilly was young looking for someone to love her and fell straight into a trap.
Gosh this movie was so good but so sad !!!!!
Right? Now ima annoy my friends and dad with the movie instead of the book 😈😈
Atlas went too far in this scene.
If he was really convinced that what she was going through was domestic abuse, then I feel like how he reacted in this scene was too much.
He didn’t think of how she might cop it more when she got home after.
He was concerned for her.
And he did apologize later.
It honestly depends on the man and the situation. Hard to generalize.
The lip biting thing is ridiculous
I second that!
thumbnail got me
Ryle said “I’vE NEveR bEEn hIT beFOrE!” 😂🤣
I can tell. Dude is the type to take his face too seriously.
The book wasn’t a masterpiece but I never envisioned Blake Lively as Lily 😭 She was in her early twenties and that’s an important part of her character. Such a poor decision.
Omg I need to watch this movie!!!! Here eyes are screaming help
this movie so good , but it spoiled for you , i love the plot twist
I watched this movie for blake(atlas) twice back to back. I wanted to see atlas more. I wish there were more scenes of atlas.
I've dealt with abusing male chauvinist pigs before. Never again!
🙌🙌 yes !
You made it out sista, you are strength! You did it ❤️
Same and ima DRACULATE THEM IN MY HEART
my red flag is that I love this scene
Brandon sklenar did a great acting job
Don't get him riled up.
😂😂😂😂😂
Ik the movies coming to Netflix hopefully before the new year, but GUYS I REALLY LOVED THIS SCENE
I loved this part of the movie
From the starting I found Ryle as a red flag 🚩🐍
What were the traits that made u think so
@@Simplyunique-z7x the very beginning when he hit the chair on the building roof top.. i knew he had anger management issues
He legit told her there is so such thing as love and that he thinks lust is nice. And that he wanted to sleep with her right after he met her. He's gross. @@Simplyunique-z7x
@@QawiFitnessin the book it’s a lot harder to understand 😅
I know all the hate for blake and what not but her acting is quite good. I haven't seen the movie yet but she sells her character quite well.
this lowkey showed me this movie is horrible. glad I didn’t go see it.
It was a good movie, but okay
@ to each their own
Why?
9:15 You have no idea how many times men have wanted to say this when they have doubts about their partner not loving them back the same amount.
They just destroyed my imagination, I thought ryle was really muscular and atlas have the best eyes ever😢
He is muscular though?
These scenes are nothing compared to the book 😭 feels like injustice to the story.
Sorry, but she doesn't look like a 23 years old Lily Bloom.
Ikr? She looks 40 or smth
Nahhhhh she was not meant for this role
W how bad Blake bombed this movie and press tour I feel like this would’ve been a good role for amber heard 🤷🏼♀️
Gross.
I think blake she did great but not every character she does is likeable.
Amber Heard is done for Hollywood. She’s not perfect for every movie except Mera from Aquaman in which many people want her fired from her role and have Blake Lively play Mera instead
Why is lily so hyper in this movie in the book she was way more decent
Because shes nervous. She knew what was gonna hppen if those two met considering she had a injured face.
@@jg2722 I am not talking about ryle and atlas's fight scene I am referring to the first scene when she sees atlas for the first time after a while here she is all like "go leave us alone let us be" To ryle and Introduces ryle to her mother as someone not fucking or something and orders alcohol and says surprise me to atlas while in the book she doesn't say anything to ryle like that and only introduces ryle as her friend's brother and becomes speechless when she sees atlas that's why I said lily is hyper in the movie I liked her way better in the book
I don't understand people really think the book will be the same as the movie 25/8, enjoy the movie or don't
@@KingComp67_-io3iz no I thought the "movie"will be the same as the "book" since you know it's ADAPTED and please as a person who has read the book anyone will be disappointed they literally changed the main character's personality to begin with. Also as a person I am allowed to give my reviews on a movie I am not talking shit about an actor or anything so your comment was really unnecessary and yean I in fact did not enjoy the movie so I will give my reviews about because that's why the thing called "review" exists dear
@ I heard of an review, I never said or imply "you couldn't give an review". I gave a review about the joker movie not online it was boring and I stopped watching within 15-30 minutes of the movie.
Saw the movie and I never thought i say this but twilight was better
blake is making everything kinda weird and cringy… why does she act like she is gonna agitate people so easily that she needs to beg them and dramatize things?
Okkkk but atlas is endgame ...kinda hot when he tried* to protect Lily
Ryle was wrong and Atlas was right.
I really hope there is a second movie
How?!?! Blake and Justin would kill each other this time 😒💔
@ haha 😆 replacing one of them . Atlas is my favorite
@@suzanneharkins5371 can you imagine it without Ryle though? ☹️
@ I could imagine it without Blake actually ! She annoys me as an actress
The nerd towards the end as they left, was actually recording them. 😂 there's always one
I have fallen in love with blake(atlas) after watching this movie. Can someone suggest any other movie or show by blake.
Blake just doesn't look like the character.... she doesn't fit the role
I can’t she freakin popped him 8:09😭😭
I love this movie ❤❤😊
Never trust anyone.
Every man for himself and God for us all...
She gets on my nerves in this scene 🤪
I think they all did amazing
This is my favorite movie.
The power of a woman can make two stranger men fight
It had nothing to do with being a woman and having power. One man was deeply insecure and controlling; the other man had been best friends with the person he was feeling protective of..someone he shared deep history with....
@MadeInSeventyFour well when is controlling that's called love
Controlling and Love isn't same thing
@cynane_ it's important for a men ti be a leader and control hus wife, especially if your will Smith and ur wife is a dlut like Jada pinkish Smith, who sleeps with her sons best friend
@@MadeInSeventyFourwho is insecure and controlling? I didnt get that from ryle. Only atlas.
Blake cant act bro
Yeah, you're not what she wants.
I haven’t read the book but seems like they should have been younger…
Ryle shouldn’t hit Atlas, Atlas needs to punch Ryle in the face because Ryle hit Lily Bloom.
Why are all the comments giving Blake Lively way too much hate? She was perfect as Lily and glad we finally got to see her in a major movie role in 6 years since A Simple Favour!
She's had bad press. The way she's been portrayed in the media, I mean it's no surprise that even if she did well people are not happy with her right now.
The only character that justice was done to is atlas
I’m sorry but I did not understand the dilemma here. Ryle is not attractive in any way to me lol
He had an easy sort of banter with Lily in the book and they had a real connection
Ryle is not cute in the least bit…so unattractive. Yuck!!
But Atlas 💕cute & treats her so nice. I haven’t read the book yet or watched the movie. (Just some scenes from it here in YT).
@@sistagoldenhair1204 aww sweetie read the book first. Then the movie. You'll get why everyone hates the movie
Never date a girl who is hung up on a past guy. She will keep trying to start something up with the other guy.
She really didn't do anything, he notices signs and reacted.
@@KingComp67_-io3iz I do agree with you but why did she comes to this restaurant? Was there a restaurant-shortage the movie doesnt mention?
@thickymcghee7681 That's a good question? Her and Atlas really didn't end on bad terms when it comes to their romantic relationship they had when they was teenagers and she was probably seeing if anything was there romantic wise after not seeing him for a years because of her toxic abusive father (my observation). She didn't say "I don't love Atlas anymore" of some sort when Ryle & her was in the kitchen reading the top restaurants book.
@@KingComp67_-io3iz My point exactly! There were clearly feelings between them. You are a married woman and your husband cried and begged you not to have any sort of relationship with him, and you agreed, So why keep going to his restaurant, and why keep his number hidden in your phone case and why have his tattoos? and why lie to your husband? Why? Avoid women like this at all cost.
@thickymcghee7681 I agree with you there. She thought she keep both of them, one for emotional(Atlas) & Sexual(Ryle) but i could be wrong
I haven't watched the movie and don't plan on watching it cause of the abuse
I know it's different for women but also the same answer we have to teach are daughters to choose wisely and choose themselves first and Also teach them self defense

I think the scene was way over dramatic.....
this girl is terrible
horrible casting for lily and atlas
What a simp! NEVER interfere in another person's relationship, and NEVER make a move on another man's woman! If you are worried about her safety, don't play the hero - call the police instead!
Unless she is completely commited to leaving, there is not much anyone can do for her. The abused must make that decision for herself. And even if she leaves, don't get involved with her. She needs to heal.
Yeah, easy talk...
fr
The guy is not a "SIMP" he cared about her and the other guy was hitting her, so he held his tongue until he couldn't. At least from what I could tell from the scene.
@@TALAIT In the first scene, he saw her with another man and he mentioned he was with someone else, yet he still wanted to get in touch with her. He should have backed off after seeing that.
In the second, knowing she was with someone else, he inserted himself into their conversation when he didn't need to, and only after did he see the injury. Then he cornered her in the bathroom, begging her to leave him. The other guy caught them there - of course it was going to kick off. Did he call the police to help her? No. He was simping, plain as day!
@@spinmaster0Did you watch the movie ? I’m not saying I don’t agree with you but there’s a whole past and context between them…
