      That amazing zoom capability you have with both cameras, especially the P900 (I understand the more recent model is the P950 as a balance between the P900 and P1000.

    Very helpful review - thank you! I've been trying to decide on a travel camera and have been looking at this camera and the FZ1000, and have also been considering the more compact and lightweight ZS70. It is a tough decision! Living in a humid area and spending time on the beaches, I can appreciate the weather resistance of the FZ300.

    I bought it three years ago for shooting stills, didn't like the results (sensor too small), and returned it. I re-ordered it last night (3-1-21) because, as you said, it just may be the best travel VIDEO camera on the market. An amazing set of features for the price, and the video quality is excellent. Add an inexpensive microphone, a variable neutral density filter, a couple of extra batteries, and you're all set! 😎

    Very happy for my fz300 as well but unfortunately i had to give it back for warranty. After 5 days of use i noticed a piece of sand/dust which was moving around under the lens / inside the lens. It didnt affect any pictures for now, but could do it in the future. Waiting for them to give me a new one, i expect it must have been an fabrication error as this model is dust proof.

    Very good video and very truthful (thumbs up )
    I am a novice birder and have this camera for few years (since new )
    weather sealing = very good as I have taken many photos in drizzle and some in rain
    video quality as I dont take many = been able to take 4K is better than most
    Image quality (IQ) is from my personal point of view thee best of all this sized sensor cameras on market till today (2020 august ) yes some are higher pixel count compared to FZ 12 mp but there is no other that offer constant 2.8f till 600 mm
    if one is that crictical for IQ then they would not look at any camera with this size sensor
    I proudly keep my FZ 300/330 and know it is still a top contender in bridge camera/super zooms/ other any other term one calls these types of cameras
    IMHO if you are pixel peeking - get a full frame or medium format sensor camera
    if you wanting a work mull that has few (if any ) faults - get this FZ300/330

      i use this cam as my work horse. it's weather sealed housing and has great zoom. fz300 has a dedicated leica lense, 2.8 aperture throught the zoom till 600mm. so you get fantastic image, especialy during daylight. perfect for holiday, birding, planespotting etc! so no need for croping. still has a 1/2.3 inch sensor! having a aps c sensor does make a difference in lowlight but keep in mind the fz300 is lightweight and you don't need lenses. if you want an ultra zoom camera with great picturequality and sealed housing you'll not find a better cam for this price. getting a aps c xam with such zoom and sealed body you reach 2000$ and more easly and weight will easly be around 1.5kg. happy with my fz300. if you're only into street, portait landscape you could checkout sony alpha

    doess Fixed Aperture mean unajustable Aperture, if so why is that a good thing?

    • @PracticalDatingMan
      @PracticalDatingMan 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fixed aperture means that it remains the same large aperture even if you zoom all the in. This means that you can do close up photos and videos without compromising the amount of light that goes in. Of course, you can still choose make the aperture smaller yourself if you want (i.e. increase the aperture number).

    I have been shooting Canon for nearly 50 years now and recently purchased a new FZ 300 at auction........after 2 months of use, i can say with confidence, that it is the most confusingly difficult camera to figure out..... The menu and sub menus are next to impossible to understand and i have yet to take one single image that doesn't appear to have a garishly HDR look and either a nasty blue or green color cast. It is no better than a damn paperweight in my opinion. 😞

    I'm seriously considering this camera but you stills and videos have caused me to have second thoughts. They're extremely pixelated. Especially the forest and gulls in the river. I think the foliage in the wind and the ripples in the water confused the camera. I have watched other reviews and tests and did not see this.
