  • This video is going over the layout of the Panasonic FZ300. This is to help those who have purchased the camera, either to introduce them to the buttons and doors, or for someone who has already had the camera but needed a reminder. The more you know, the less you will feel intimidated with the available settings and features!
    If you have any questions I did not answer, please let me know in the comments below!
    And a big thank you to my guest photographer, Tara!

    The best video of the FZ300 there is for us newbie's. Soooooooo much information but explained very simple and easy to understand. Now I can take advantage (slowly) of the many features of the FZ300 and refer back to your video as I will need to. Thank You very much Heather!!!

    Just ventured in to the camera world, through drone photography, never used nothing more than my phone and a Instamatic previously. Bought the FZ330 to compliment the DJI drone video and photo images. Without this video in all honesty the 330 would have just been another Instamatic for me. Having read the instructions watched loads of TH-cam videos until coming across yours, i wouldn't have still had a clue in all honesty. The best video on TH-cam by far for a total novice like my self, which also gave me the motivation to explore the camera further....Thank you so much, really appreciated!

    Thank you for this orientation video. I am familiar with Panasonic compacts and the iA mode and I was an avid film camera buff so know about apertures, ISO, and shutter speeds. However this camera has so many "bells and whistles" that your video has explained. I took it right out after I bought it and shot extensively in my garden without changing any settings other than those that came with the camera and got good results. In addition I intuitively transferred the photos to my Mac with no issues. But now its time to start going through the menu and making a few settings and your video has been a boon to familiarise myself with all the buttons and controls and what they will do. It is also helpful to know what an experienced camera person finds the most useful buttons and which ones are less useful. Thanks again for taking the time to review the FZ300.

    Received a copy of this camera today. Bought it for my Dad. Now I knew Panasonic IBIS would be good. But I was not ready for how good this IBIS actually was. I shoot Sony myself, and while I knew it is not as good as the Panasonic, I did not expect such a huuuge difference. 600 mm is almost tripod steady while handholding. 😱😱😱😱

    Could you make a video in which you explain how to make "macro" (close up) photos (what buttons to push to do this, and what options and settings there are, and where to find these). I am not a camera person, but I bought the Panasonic FZ300 because it is partially sealed against moisture and dust, and it could allow me to learn more about taking photos.
    The gentleman below is totally correct. On the internet you are BY FAR the best communicator and educator about how to begin to use this camera. WOW. You explain things carefully and you assume that the listener may not know anything (which is very true in my case). The 2 "Owner's Manuals" mostly just confuse me. (When I write "best on the internet", I mean best on the planet, since that the internet comes from everywhere.
    I wish that you made short videos that just explained doing one thing to teach people like me how to do things with our camera. I know how to do panorama shots and I now use this ALL THE TIME.
    Thank you very much for this video.

    I originally purchased a Canon bridge camera from Mike's Camera Shop, but wasn't happy with it. Heather recommend exchanging it for this Panasonic. In Banff, I took a few hundred long distant scenic and bird photographs. When viewed on my computer, most bird pictures were great and allowed me to identify bird species approx. 500 + feet away. I wish I viewed Heather's video before I took the trip. She provides great customer service - Thanks Heather.

    Heather, this was very good. The absolute best of many I have viewed on FZ300 Cleared up some confusion as I move from an s4400 ( which I just wore out) to the FZ300 which I had out for 6 hour hike for first time yesterday. Getting to modes down wasn't too bad so far. You helped big time with the ongoing learning process. One confusion I still have is these green areas in manual focus at distant deer. It was a few green leaved branches in the sight picture and moving my position would have spooked the deer. This type of camera is about all someone with my lifestyle will ever need. Because DSLR's and the terrain I cover and targets just do not work. Time,weather,expense, plus humans are smarter than machines, and wildlife is smarter than humans. This camera seems great. The weatherproofing will be a test of time. In field common sense and aftercare are important factors. I am still photo for most part. However, that 4K is so exciting in that my dog friend and her daughter running free and capturing that right moment will be priceless. Going in I thought the whole motion picture 4K thing was a waste of technology. Heck I have so much respect for the old school wildlife artists. Track the animal, time the light conditions, wait for days, weeks, or months for that one perfect time to press the button. Than getting out with that cargo and into the darkroom. A lost profession we should never forget. Wonderful work Heather.

    • @Shutterbug101
      @Shutterbug101  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am so glad you are so excited to use this camera! I think you are right, it seems like its perfect for what you need it for. As for the manual focus, when you switch that switch on the back of the camera to MF, and use the little wheel dial on the side of the lens, it should give you an outline of color to indicate what part of the photo is indeed in focus. You should be able to change the color it shows in the Menu to white, red, or yellow I believe. Or else in those situations on Autofocus, it will default to whatever it determines is in front, so a branch with leaves in front of the deer. Or you can use your touch screen to pinpoint on the screen that you would like to focus on the deer not the branches. Hope this helps!

    This is a pretty good video touching upon all the features and other things (hints & tips) but there is one thing you HAVE TO DO when reviewing a digital camera and that is take MANY still pictures and shoot a FEW videos in different situations, i.e. indoors, outdoors, city, country, by the water, plants, flowers, animal shots using a variety of different manual settings and then add it into your review. Doing this will show your viewers what this bridge camera is capable of and how it performs. This will also get you more views and subscriptions because it completes your review. That need to be your goal. Other than that, you did a great job.

    • @Shutterbug101
      @Shutterbug101  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I appreciate your advice Robert Smith! I will keep that in mind. I try and do indoor/outdoor depending where I am to take the sample footage, using the zoom and seeing it's macro ability, but it can be difficult to try and also include water, plants, animals as well in every single video as I only have one day to capture what each camera can do in the location I am in, so believe me I am always looking for multiple opportunities in one place. Thank you for watching and I will do my best to broaden the subjects I capture!

      @@Shutterbug101 You're welcome. Your channel has so much potential and that's why I said what I said. I just wanted to give you some ideas to think about. What I mentioned about outdoor things, well, it doesn't have to be all those things I mentioned. Just do the best you can like shooting away from where you live, if you're the kind of person who enjoys their privacy. Keep on reviewing and stay happy. :-)

      It should cover both video and photos, and it is still very limited as it covers light body shake, but the more you zoom, the shakier things get naturally. If you don’t have a tripod, you can use things around you to help like fence posts, trash cans, etc.

    Hi I hope you could please help me. I am having a challenge figuring out whether I could use a Teleprompter with the Panasonic FZ300? As it is a bridge camera would I still be able to mount the teleprompter to the camera? (I plan to get the Parrot 2) Or does this only work with DSLRs and not the FZ300? Is the fixed lens compatible with teleprompter? I would appreciate your advice, thank you

    • @Shutterbug101
      @Shutterbug101  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Eve, this is a great question! While bridge cameras like this one have the threading needed to use a teleprompter, as long as you do not zoom the lens out with the attachment on it, it SHOULD be fine. However, my main concern is that the barrel of the lens that comes in and out of the camera is extremely sensitive and is a bridge cameras main weakness, as any weight, bumps or debris can cause the motor that extends the lens to stop working and is an expensive repair. So while it SHOULD be okay, I would really recommend using the teleprompter with an interchangeable lens camera.

    I just got this camara,
    your review helped me so much.
    but I have a question.
    how can you do a long exposure for something like a lightning storm this camera?

      You can use your Tv mode to set it anywhere between 5 and 30 seconds long by looking for " symbol after the number. Also set your timer (your drive mode button) to 2-10 seconds to avoid shake.

      what number and what symble are you talking about? I also searched for a "TV mode" and couldn't find it anywhere.

    As your video shows, the zoom is pretty fast. Is there any way to slow the zoom down, so as to do a slow-zoom?

    Hey quick question my Panasonic fz300's display has gone upside down and I haven't been able to set it back to default. Would you know of any troubleshoot work around the display screen?

    • @Shutterbug101
      @Shutterbug101  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ryan Belanger personally I would go straight to the Menu and reset all settings back to default. If it still shows that it is upside down, it seems there may be an issue with the screen hinge controls, as it should only show “upside down” when it’s flipped out and rotated. Not sure why it would remain upside down if it’s flat to the back of your camera. Let me know what your results are!

    I ordered the Vivitar wide angle lens compatible with the Panisonic lumix fz300. Do i also need the adapter tube? Which one? Or can it attach to the camera itself? Please help?

      I do not typically recommend putting glass over glass as it degrades the quality, but the converters are typically screw on like filters.

    Hi, my favourite mode is using High Dynamic. But now all of a sudden when I go to take a photo it sounds like it's taking 2 photos and the photo ends up blurry. I'm not sure how to fix this ? I'm hoping you can help as its driving me crazy

      Check to see if your post focus mode accidently got turned on. Sounds like that may be the issue!

    Hi , I watched your video 9 days ago. When using iA and P program, I get a little Video/timer on the left hand side of the screen. Is there a way to turn that off or is it always on in those programs. I did change some things after watching your video, maybe I changed something by mistake. Thanks, Robert

    Thank you for this tutorial, very well done. My new FZ300 will be arriving in a few days, so this give me a good start in understanding the camera. I want to check to see if you done any other blogs on the FZ300. Thank You Again. Steve

      Stephen Williams this is currently my only video featuring the FZ300, however, if you would like to see something specific done with the camera I would be happy to accommodate! Just let me know!

    I've been doing test shots for a trip to Alaska with mixed results. I think I'm having an issue with 4K burst. Every time I take a photo, I have 1 second of recording. What basic settings do you recommend for taking stills of moving wildlife? Thanks

    Bought this camera secondhand. The on off toggle suffers from latency after flipping a few times. Is this normal?
