This is a shorter version of a video I previously uploaded. If available in your country, you can watch it here : • Depeche Mode 101: But ...
Alan, if only you knew that there are so many people who love you and appreciate your cosmic talent
❤❤❤❤❤
I'm sure he knows...❤
His playing on Never Let Me Down is the best, truly an amazing talent, thanks Alan for all the years of great music.👍😎🎶
So true ❤

Alan Wilder created the unique DM sound. Miss him
Alan Wilder is the missing piece in the puzzles Depeche Mode. He is a master of the sound.
Or Stalker... or Red River Cargo... Luscious Apparatus even!
He left for another minor group that had no luck...
Agree
@veggie42 Alan Wilder did not leave Depeche Mode for another group. Martin, Dave, and Andy just decided to go on without Alan, mostly (basically he aired his issues about not getting enough credit, or an equal share, or sometimes just not much creative input. and they together with Alan decided he would not continue with the band). After a short time he helped put together the music project 'Recoil'. He has put out a few albums with them.
@@williestyle35Alan left DM for his personal project Recoil, there were no "them", Recoil is just Alan
The best era of DM. The guy was taken for granted far too often, no wonder he left
That’s why I love Depeche Mode 1982-1993 era, only because of Alan. he seems to be quiet and inconspicuous, but we all know - he's the boss ;)
He never wanted to be the boss. He just wanted to create good music. He succeeded. Fletch didn't like it though. Being a successful 'clapper', he wasn't happy with anyone within the band who could perform more complicated tasks than that.
Alan no tenía ego. Fletch lo hizo y muy celoso también. Seamos realistas. ¡No aportó nada musicalmente!
Alan was so unbelievably gorgeous at that time along with being the "secret sauce" to Depeche Mode's music during the "Golden Age" of Depeche Mode..
his fingers are so gentle on the keyboard. it's mesmerizing
also love when he's just hitting shit with a stick
yeah, but I always loved that single note hit hard with his middle finger in black celebration´s chorus ( see 2:25 )
@@liantrosretrospectiva4134 yesss that too!
Oh, Alan will play cool and sexy on spoons. I'm most excited about him on the keyboard. This is love with a period of hatred (not personally - “transfer”) from the first frame of the perfect placement of fingers on the keys of a guy in a gray suit.
do you daydream of him playing _blasphemous rumours_ on your skin?
˘J˘
Alan playing e-mu Samplers, Martin writing, Dave singing and Andrew clapping, that is the depeche mode I loved.
Andy should have stayed offstage decades ago, just assuming the role of manager and accountant... it was disrespectful to the fans to have been onstage pretending he was playing... he didn't do anything musically, so why stay as a member of the band all those years?
@@liantrosretrospectiva4134parce que Andrew "Fletch" était le seul capable de contenir les excès de Dave et Martin.
@@liantrosretrospectiva4134c'était Fletch le vrai boss.
@@liantrosretrospectiva4134 He was Martin's best mate and his voice, That is why, Martin was ultra loyal to Andy. Plus like you said he handled the business aspect in some ways too.
I still get weak in the knees when he smiles.
Don't we all? 😊
@@kvid64 Thank you for making this! I have watched it over and over, once with tears streaming down my cheeks. Love him.
Jajajaj siiii. El mejor comentario
Depeche Mode without Alan's TALENT became Depeche Mini. It was never the same without him.
💯
I totally agree. I stopped listening to DM after Alan's departure...
@@bea8773I've started Muse & Sparks
Alan Wilder made it look so effortless. His replacement with all due respect makes it look like an unconquerable chore.
He was like playing 3 or 4 parts with two hands. He was playing chess while the others were playing checkers.
These fingers on keyboard... Genius of sounds... The one and only - Alan Charles Wilder!

This is the version of 101 that we always wanted ! 😂😂😂❤❤❤❤
It is only too obvious what Alan thought of Just Can’t Get Enough. The smile to the camera while playing says it all.
Alan Wilder Was The Sound Creator Of Depeche Mode.
Without Alan Wilder DM Never Would Have Sounded As Great As They Did.
From 1982 To 1995 Alan Wilder Was The Brain Behind The Sound Of Depeche Mode. He Is A Musical Genius. A Salute You Alan.! 👏
Alan is unique: a genius and a real gentleman
He was the brain of the band!
Alan Wilder i love you. I have since 1986. Been a Depeche fan since 1983. The Alan era is my favorite, they put out their best music when he was there. IMO anyway.
My biggest crush ever. Alan I miss you.
Depeche Mode .. everything comes back to Alan.
Best looking one definitely.
I know it's a cliche, but I'll never get over Alan - People can say 'get over it' or 'move on' as much as they want; I hate that people think they have the right to dictate how other people think or feel.
I wish I didn't miss him - my life's bad enough as it is. But I can't stand 21st-century DM. I saw them for the first and only time in 2009 and felt utterly miserable: even before the concert, I saw the merch and just wished I was watching the WVT. As for the concert, I found myself looking at the ground in sadness because I couldn't help imagining that there was a time when I'd have been watching Alan. (I hate how the band installed Peter as a permanent replacement. Much as Alan leaving upsets me, I think I'd have found it easier and may have gone to subsequent shows if the band had varied their use of session musicians.)
Alan's role in the studio has been talked about a lot, and rightly so, but I miss him most as a live performer. He was so cool and handsome, his keyboard playing was mesmerising, and his vocals harmonised so well with Martin and Dave's.
Given DM's success as a stadium rock act, they're clearly a massive commercial force and obviously doing something right. But this rock/cabaret version of DM with permanent session musos and Dave's stage persona is so cringe-inducing and far-removed from the band I loved. I know-they've 'evolved.' Unfortunately, what they've evolved into isn't to my taste. People who saw tours like 'Black Celebration' and 'World Violation' are SO lucky. 😢
It's hard to get over it because of the massive difference in the sound since he left. While each album post-Wilder has had one or two really good songs, as a whole, the albums have fell flat. We'll always have to live with "what if".
Well put. I have to agree wth you. I cannot go or listen to much DM after he left Its almost too difficult to listen to someone else play his parts. I have to also agree about how handsome he was, but i think he is still is, forever beautiful. I got to see the World Violation Tour, and the Devotional/Exotic tours.. AMAZING.. I haevnt seen them live since then.
To someone like me, when Alan was Behind the Wheel DM were godlike... I'll say it again. Again and again.
I didn't know that so many voices I know from songs belonged to Alan. I always thought it was just Dave. Alan has a similar voice. An outstanding musician!!!!!!!! Without him, DM ceased to be the same DM for me. :(
Alan is the most beautiful man I've ever seen, but in this 101 footage he is especially fine looking. The hair, the outfit, his hands on the keys, goooooood. I could swoon over him non stop. What a man ❤
..LUK...
I 100000000000 million percent agree, I think he is the most handsome, beautiful man ever created... Idk there is something about this period where I was like Good Lord, he looks hot as hell.... I have agree, I have been swooning over him for over 30 plus years.
You just shared the best parts of the movie. Alan has it all. beautiful talent, musical genius, voice, and looks.
Alan = God's gift to women!!!!!
Nah to humanity...to music
REAL
and men too...!
Alan Wilder.... you were truly the MVP.... we miss you!
I've realised that so many years of watching the Master at work, I type in the soft flowing way that he taps his keys, its quite an art, ha ha 😂 Mr W, keep us forever entertained! ❤
He was an absolute genius and the magic spark in the lineup. Alan's musical contributions is what made DM, the DM we all love and cherish. The moment he left the group, DM lost everything that made the band. He was the glue that kept the band together. Yes, they all contributed in their own ways, but Alan WAS the Depeche Mode. Even in their darkest hours, they produced their best work.
He will always be DM and DM is not the same without him.
“Alan Wilder”.
Alan is one of spiritual members, he was a great and creative musician, DM without him is a kind of loss.
Been in love with this man since I was 14😍
9 here lol. I remember telling my sister and my mom when I was 9 I am going to marry that man ;) hehe
I would love to be able to bump into Alan one day and just say ‘thank you’ - the Golden era of depeche from CTA to SOFAD were simple the most incredible albums. Martin continues to write great songs (a few exceptions) but Alan had a way of adding the magic pixie dust to them. He is great;y missed by me and although we know he would never go back for one last time, I still dream that Martin and Dave could make it happen. A stunning musician and producer who made DM the global phenomenon they became. Thank you for sharing this
The Great Alan Wilder. The best DM era 1982-1994
Alan was the heartbeat of Depeche Mode, they don't suck without him, but the energy is missing.
Wonderful musician and beautiful man 🖤
Alan's backstage service is wonderful.
Martin is a superb songwriter, but no one can write gems consistently. Alan was a master of creating the backdrop to Martin's songs and he elevated great songs into iconic ones and so-so songs into good ones. Of course with Dave's delivery, one of the best front men in the history of bands with that powerful, seductive voice, and you have a product that is much, much greater than their individual talents. None of their individual works - Recoil, Martin's solo works, Dave's solo and collabs - they don't remotely come close to what DM achieves when all 3 are contributing...and that is the greatest shame. Listen to In Chains...album version and then Wilder's version.
This also to Depeche Mode after Alan Wilder period - no a single song has become anywhere near as successful, famous, as DM with Allen. Excuse me please DM in the current lineup...
Totally agree. I wrote something similar some years ago under another DM clip. DM is only all of them. I don't want to diss Fletch, but it's the 3 guys or nothing.
Mr.Wilder definitely was an important and a definitive force in DM, what a Genius playing those keyboards, just !!! ! WoW !! Remember he played the drums too ,no words to describe his talent. Or just Genius 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🏽🙏🏼
Alan Wilder is the only miracle my heart needs 😊
The most talented musician... I would love to see him back in DM. Driving force of DM's sound back then. ❤❤❤
I always loved "101" but I think I could just watch this on loop instead. Alan is my favourite. Miss him like mad! Thank you so much for this video edit! ❤
I miss you Alan! 💜👍🏻🤗
Alan was the Best...The GOD of sintesized sounds, engineer of DM greatness...Totaly respect
Fuck yeah Alan Wilder.
He has a very pleasant singing voice! Wish we got to hear more of it…. And it’s wonderful to see how passionate and hardworking he is (on and off stage)
What a talent!! You will always be the essence of DM for me ❤. The DM today has nothing on the Alan DM years.
Oh my… I love this guy ❤️ I love them all in fact.
Alan’s beautiful long fingers are dancing like graceful ballet dancers. His elfy eyes 😍 He is soooo in love with music, that I cannot believe he can live without it now… I hope he is very happy in his life, he deserves it 🌹
1:13 those hands make magic and that's why my obsession with The Thing You Said, I love that part of the song, also the part that he sings
"I never tried to hide them.......... I never denied them"
edit: I can't stop watching this video on loop thanks to TH-cam and my love for Alan's talent, thank you TH-cam for your service
Oh my goodness, watching those nimble fingers dance across the keyboard… It makes a girl have all kinds of dirty thoughts. Such an incredibly hot man… And a brilliant musical genius on top of it? Perfection.
💯
Agreed 1000 percent.Had many a thought about Alan over the past 30 plus years. Gorgeous man, talented as hell, and down to earth what is not to love? Those hands and voice.. Perfection
The soul of DM perfect sounds. Damn! I miss this man ...😞💔🙌🏻
Min 7:07 kissing your beautiful hard-working hands for the fabulous work you do, Alan
Decheche mode is not depeche mode whitout Alan, Alan was the 80% of the original escence of depeche mode
Alan.
Ah, here is the great and humble man that gave Depeche Mode their edge.
What a musician!!!!!!
Alan u have amazing talent and incredible voice and I miss u and yvr so gifted
Allan was a blessing to the Mode band was never ever the same.
You're doing God's work here))
Not all heroes wear capes
I could watch him for hours and hours. There is just something otherworldly about him, yes he is the most gorgeous man ever, but he has a humbleness, a kindness and an aura about him , how could you not fall in love with him. Been head over heels in love with him since 1987. Miss him so much. He brought something truly special to DM that is missing. Such a lovely man, and that accent. perfection.
Miss so much Alan Wilder..., hope some day...
In my opinion Depeche Mode are only one band have a so much masters, sound, percussion, harmonize, composition, superb concerts like as always. Amazing band. Yesterday, today and after tomorrow. I'm other side of globe more precisely in Brasil and always listen them. Yesterday, today and after today. Greetings from Brasil my good friends.
He was good looking and talented
He still is, both of those things.
He smiling at 7:37 melts my heart! It feels like he did this especially to me☺️
Depeche Mode’s music was different when Alan was around, I’ll miss him. I think still their music is great without him, but he made it perfect.
AW the only man I ever saw who looked good wearing a leather jacket (hated denim and leather, but he looks devastating wearing both). Imagine if you went on a blind date and he walked into the pub (or restaurant if you want to be posh) dressed like that!! (Swoon!! ❤ Falling on the floor in a dead faint). You had, and you've still very definitely got sex appeal, Alan!! (Cor!!!). (With that quiff!! Cor!!!).
Depeche Mode lost me when Alan left the band...
Me too. I stopped listening to them after he left, never bought any later albums.
Alan Wilder is the man!
I love how he played Stripped
I love it ❤️ Alan Alan Alan 😍
Thank you so much for making this video edit 💖
You're welcome! Thanks for watching 😀
Is it possible to be both charming and clever and creative? yes it is when your name is Alan Wilder! The genius hiding in the shadows of the stage..
He was very talented and I can see how he must have felt to have put more time and effort in than the others. He just didn't feel appreciated. All of the together were magic!
With Alan Wilder is Depeche Mode
Without Alan Wilder Demo Mode !
Mr Alan Wilder the genius Depeche mode
I just love this man, Alan Wilder 😍❤
This is beautiful film 101 , interview and my favorite film because i love Depeche mode Very much❤
Alan you are the best!!!!
Refreshing to see him playing..thank you 💐💐
Maximun Alan Wilder !!!! 📢🎵🎗️🌷👍
Him and Vince Clark were the only real musicians in the band. I mean that those two know how to play a keyboard and they were the best prepared. In the case of Vince Clark a synth magician, a genius!
The sensitivity in Depeche Mode's music, which today, 35-40 years later, sounds so good and does not suffer the passage of time, is thanks to their compositions.
Thank You for this excellent work !!! 101 was my first lp of DM and is very special for me!!! Wilder Máster of the best moments of DM.
NEVER forgotten
pure talent
Alan you are a gift for this world 🖤🖤
When Alan wilder left depeche mode, the soul left the band. They just aren't as good as they were.
Alan!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍❤
Alan is a Genius.......what a lost for DM!!!!
I like ALAN the most
If Martin was dM's lyrics, Alan Wilder was dM's sound, a man too talented for whom he was not given his true place in the group, creator of one of their greatest hits, "Enjoy the Silence" and their last masterpiece, SOFAD, you are irreplaceable, Mr. Alan Wilder.
How are they all so magical separately AND together?!?? Just pure beauty.

I love that moment - his smile makes me melt. Such a gorgeous, talented man. Miss him so much😥
@@blueroses7935 same.... that smile has been melting me since 1987 : I miss him too .. I think we all do.
