@Punchtale Real fans would buy a DM album if it was just 90 minutes of Mediterranean fart noises. There’s hardly another band on the planet from that era that could still do a full run of stadiums 40 years into their career. So respect the boys or shutdafucup 👋🏽😑
A high school colleague got a few of us tickets to see them perform live during the Violator tour. I’m not a DM fan, but I have that album because it’s profoundly good. They look like children here, and they sound bad technically, but I can see that the elements are there - especially the courage and attitude, and the smarts to use sequencers to at least look like they can play cohesively. David’s voice is good. The other guys not so much but they’re enjoying themselves. That confidence took them a long way. 👍🏻

Back in the days of this gig, you could not imagine that only a few years later these guys would drop "Black Celebration", "Music For The Masses", and "Violator". This was fun watching this.
He played a lot more in the early days. Dave on Fletch, Q mag, 2003 Q: Is Fletch´ skeyboard ever plugged in? A: Yes, it´s plugged in, but I couldn´t honestly say what you get from it. He performs with us live but he seems to spend more time out in front, waving his arms in the air than playing the keyboards. All I Know is that when he goes back to his kit, I look round and I know there ain´t anything happening there.
Not only true live, but also no added effects like reverb etc. And that is pretty rare. (ok, maybe not for an early 80's performance in a small club back then, the PA would've been pretty simple back then, although simple spring reverb units are very old and back then also nothing new)

This is such an incredibly rare treasure. The audio quality and video were captured incredibly well, showcasing both their fledgling youth and inexperience as performers: shy, stilted, pitchy backing vocals, an attentive crowd but not quite sure what to make of this unusual new all-synth band performing every analog note along to a taped drum loop machine. The vast majority of early DM recording were captured from live television performances where 99% of the sound was pre-recorded and lip-synced so we could never get an accurate depiction of how they sounded as a raw, live band. I absolutely love this!

How much conviction must an artist have to stick with it, how do you not get discouraged when you look like a high schooler with an epileptic seizure and your sound is still so raw and dissonant at times? To go from that to fucking icons....amazing.

42 years,,, how time flies... still love to play this songs to this day...
Loveit!
This must have been revolutionary at the time. What a great watch and listen.
See You is one of my favorite DM songs. Very underrated and a shame they never played it again in the post-1986 era.
It's the first single I ever bought.
always happy to learn about underrated things on yt. i would assume that even the word "underrated" is underrated.
It wasn't depressive enough.
@@leximatic 😂
That is the most amazing old footage I have seen of the young Depeche Mode, you can feel their creative souls and it's all original sound , this is where the magic happens! Oh I wish I could have been there. I was 17 at the time.
That was awesome! It felt like falling out of a time machine... thanks for posting! 👍
This is an incredible bit of music history. Very clear video and wow, they improved quickly after this. Nobody would have bet on them lasting a few months let alone decades.I need to edit. They got into their groove by New Life.
I can't imagine seeing them in such a small club! Lucky!
How can this be so great... How can I envy a 1982 recording.. Im from 87!
First time I saw them there were maximum 1000 people there. Tiny place. Then later in 1982 maybe 2000 people? Great shows.
Amazing! RIP Andy Fletcher.
It is wonderful. Thanks for the memories. Back then, no one expected DM to be so loved all over the world. RIP Andy❤
Thank you for uploading this. This Video ist real gold. I knew that they once played in Oberkorn, but that this was recorded in such a great quality, is a mega-surprise to me.
A broken frame is their best record. This concert is fabulous!
Glad i was there in the 80's to see it unfold and be part of it. New life was the first single i bought. It was out if this world back then.
Watch this and then 101. So cool to see the differences in every form. Love them!
Tanks for the upload x
Thanks for sharing! They made an instrumental after this city. "Oberkorn (it`s a small town)" Think it was the B-side to "The Meaning of Love" single.
Детство, юность... Эх!
Как же давно это было!
Спасибо!
❤❤❤ Oh Mann, wie gerne würde ich zurück in diese Zeit 🤗🤗🤗
Thanks for taking me back to my youth. I forgot how much I liked Depeche Mode. Very cool.
I love these early videos. It’s cool listening to Dave Gahan find his voice over the years
Грустим и скорбим. Эндрю Флетчер. Очень жаль. Россия, Москва. Июнь2022.
This recording is a real rarity, thanks :)
How much conviction must an artist have to stick with it, how do you not get discouraged when you look like a high schooler with an epileptic seizure and your sound is still so raw and dissonant at times? To go from that to fucking icons....amazing.
Well said Alex, your spot on.👍👍
... it's because of youthfulness, testosterones, foolishness, and a little bit of luck and talent. ✌🏽
That's how 😊
Four young people with chemistry, experimenting with making music. Doesn't like like there's any outside interference. So pure and exciting to watch.
This is a lot like a high quality video of seeing the Beatles from their "Cavern" days. Small venue, the heyday a few short years away, brilliant songs. What a gem of a video!
Pretty sure I still have the first two songs as singles on vinyl! Wow, can't believe this was 40 years ago. I was learning to code on my ZX Spectrum when they were doing this. And that audience is the most eighties thing I've seen for quite a while :)
Shout out, Good Sir, to the Spectrum!! And this is coming from a lifelong Commodore 64 fan! 👍👍
Очень мило, спасибо, приятно было посмотеть
Love seeing them playing with Wilder there. Wish he was back with them...
Talento más trabajo duro...gran documento de una de las mejores bandas de todos los tiempos. Larga vida a Depeche Mode.❤
Seems like the most intimate show they ever did. They're all on top of one another, band members and crowd.
Just in case you haven't seen those pictures, Google "Depeche Mode beer crates" and you'll be amazed.
