Just a tip for Kawasaki screws if you have regular Phillips you may have issues with stubborn hardware but the JIS Phillips really makes a world of difference I didn’t believe it would actually make any difference but it does well worth the $15-$30 take my word on it if you own one get a JIS Phillips #2 covers mostly everything on the quad you’ll need to work on
I love all your videos!! Been a huge help since getting my used 400 Prairie Project. What do you think about the Amazon Carbs for them? Pretty sure mine had a new one out on it just before I bought it. It had sat for years before I got it. It ran great up and down the driveway a few times. Fuel almost smelt like a bit of racing gas, but fuel was low, so I topped it off with 89. Now it won’t hardly run unless choke is 1/4 on and it now white smokes a bit. Didn’t do that before. This all started instantly after the new fuel. Any thoughts??
Thanks for the questions mighty myer!! Amazon carbs are junk, but it sounds like you've got one that might possibly be working somewhat. If it were mine I'd through it in the trash, but you might argue with that. Sounds like because of sitting you might have a little buildup in the carb (and/or tank) and it running low as well as it finally getting used may have broke any buildup free and it now is lodged in your jets. I'd certainly watch this video a couple of times and dig into your carb to see what you find. I will also link a video on the dangers of a Knockoff Amazon carb: th-cam.com/video/kOv8nhHUsq4/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching. Let me know what you find.
Mid Nebraska Motorsports hi thanks for the reply. I got my hands on the OEM carb for it that was originally on it. I’m gonna order new OEM rebuild kit for it and put it on. I currently have it running good again, it was a partially clogged petcock valve restricting my fuel flow. I think the fine screen filters on the valve was stopping up.
I snorkeled my 97 prairie 400 and it seems to be running a little rich because it’s obviously not gonna get as much air, will messing with that air/fuel screw help?
OMG thank you. I've been searching all day through forums and what else.... Trying to figure out what the third jet was... Then I found this discovering primary and secondary mains 🤯. Once I found your video I searched with different key words and people are saying "secondary is the real main" and "primary is a bit between main and pilot" ! Is this true on this carb? Either way.. What's the size difference on each? My "primary" was a Keihin 146 but "secondary" was an non stamped manuf. #86. Still yelling to cross reference
Happy to help. You sizes sound about right. I don't know off hand what they are but typically the secondary is slightly smaller. Thanks for watching. Let us know if you need anything: ebay.com/str/midnebraskamotorsports
I have the same carburetor shop replaced cranks well idkes well but at about 1/2trottle the rpms stop risen no stumbling or busting any clue where to start air/fuel or a jet which jet controlls top end spark plug maybee
Mid Nebraska Motorsports yes I was able to get it opened up. I watched another guys video as well. He used a propane torch to burn off the gunk. The quad is idling great now. Although I have a 300 prairie they both are very similar quads. Thanks again for the videos!👍
Took mine apart and cleaned. Reinstalled and appears to be loading up. Turned off gas while running and ran smooth and strong just before gas depletion. Any suggestions?
Yes, these are cold blooded machines (hard to start when cold) if the choke is not working properly it probably won't start. Thanks for watching. Have you hit the subscribe button?
I'm having a problem with my Prairie where the carburetor is leaking. I'm pretty sure it's out of the overflow only but I checked the needle valve and it stops air from coming through when I turn it upside down with the float. I checked to see if the float floats in gas and it isn't stuck when it's in the carburetor. Suggestions?
I am having the same issue. I don know what else to do. I have purchased a new carb hoping this would fix the issue. Unfortunately the gas pours out more now with the new one than it did with the original one. Please let me know what you found out.
So I took my carb apart. But couldn't get the pilot jet out. I can't get my bike running. And the off chance I get it running it only lasts for about 10 seconds then bogs out and dies. Do you think this is the issue?
Mid Nebraska Motorsports well. I will give it one more shot to get it out. But I cant seem to find any used carbs on the market. I might just go against your advice and get a $40 dollar one!!
I have a video coming out soon that will cover removing that cap. You must be careful, but it is pretty easy. Thanks for watching. Hit the subscribe button so you know when the video is posted.
Great video - after watching, I took my carb apart and cleaned it and all working now.
Brilliant video

Thank you for this video, It's gonna make the rebuild go so much more smoothly on our Prairie.

So I've got a 2 bayou 300's and a 400 on all three of those carbs the secondary main has the bigger jet in it
U earned a subscriber for sure! Could you tell me where I can find the vin on this quad? I can’t seem to locate it

How many turns should I back out on the jet if I am at 10000 ft altitude (Colorado)

How are you? One question, can I get a Kawasaki prairie 2000 400 4x4 board with you?
Board as in CDI Box? Let me know.
Hey thanks for the video! Great help! Does the pilot jet have a hole going all the way through? I can’t seem to get it unclogged if there is.

If before it won't start what could it be caused from the choke being hung in there

At 1:25, the T hose barbs. Attached close to the bowl. Where do them 2 hoses go to? Are the just vents?
Cooling return hoses back to cooling system

Float out of adjustment metal tab is adjustable or needle valve
How do I set float height?

Hi, is it a keihin cvk34?
I noticed my carburetor appears to be leaking at the plunger. Is there an o-ring behind it? Should I oreder a new plunger?
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports its the plunger on bowl. The primer.
@@MidNebraskaMotorsports thanks. Great videos
I have no airflow screw , all else the same just a flat piece there
