Did i missed something Bryan? Your voice sounds different in the video (except for the PCB pre-recorded ad) then i am used to. Hope all okay.
I lost my voice right before last weekend, which is why there wasn't a video last week. Got it back (mostly) in time to record this video yesterday, but it's still ridiculously deep. :)
@@BV3D Glad you got most of it back Bryan!! All the best for the remainder part of the recovery.
Thanks!
@@BV3D I thought you had been sick by your voice. It sounded like you were tired. Get some rest. You need to be well for your violin expert.😎
Great video sir! Very informative. Would there be any difference using a BTT Pi v1.2?
Very good and clear!
wow. that voice! are you going to start doing voice-overs? Great video, Bryan! Thanks for the information!
Haha! I mean technically I do voiceovers for my own videos...
very usefull, you explain very well, thanks. Question: can I use any usb camera ? It matter what type/model ?
Odd.. my comment got lost or something.. Trying again.
Kudos on immediately telling people to change passwords for the orangepi default accounts!
go Paul! go bryan!
Thank you for the directions. I am installing to RPi2B with your method. Only difference is I am using *octoprint_deploy* insteadl of *octoprint_install*
I would use "apt-get dist-upgrade" to resolve possible dependencies as well :) And I would actually never login with root and just sudo it.
That's a great walk through thanks . Can I run plugins that control Io pins for psu control as I'm running an orangepi zero w2 at the moment and I cannot get io plugins to work?
Which plugin is it? It may be specific to the RaspberryPi.
Thank You for your video. I found it in a search because I want to try out a LinuxMint install on a USB plugged into my old Win 10 laptop. Would I skip the first part and start with "Paukstelis’s Octoprint_Install Script"? I would have backed up my existing OctoPrint install (Win10). I could then restore this backup and my work would be done. Does this sound like a plan?
This OctoPrint sounds interesting. Can it control the new Orange Pi5 26-pin header GPIO PWM pins? Thanks.
Nice case - can it fit a 40mm noctua? and would you recommend the Orange pi over say a Btt pi for the extra ram? as the btt pi has the bonus of 12-24v connector to hook up to the power supply
Hi Bruce, it can fit a 40mm Noctua, but what I'm doing is running a regular 12V fan, powered by the 5V & Ground pins on the GPIO header. The fan runs slower, it's super quiet, and it still has enough airflow over the heat sink to keep the Orange Pi happy.
As for the BTT Pi, its power input port is a huge benefit if you're going to install it inside a printer's case. They sent me one a couple of weeks ago and I ran through this exact same procedure, successfully installing OctoPrint on it. I used BTT's "CB1_Debian11_minimal_kernel5.16_20230303" OS as the base. Worked great!
thank you for Video, I am having trouble getting my Elegoo Neptune 3 Plus to connect my printer and cable works on Octoprint on windows. Not on Pi Os running on a Window Surface RT with OctoPrint and OctoDash. I think it is the drivers are missing, the device is listed in lbusb. Any help would be great. thank you
While present on the image, ifconfig is aging out. The modern alternative, in case ifconfig isn't present, type "ip a" and press Enter.
Hi Darren, I did not know that. Thanks for the tip!
Nice video!
I have a question, why didn't you connected the Orange Pi to the computer (the Mac) (5:00) when you set up the wifi network and how do I see the interface of the codes that is seen in the minute 5:00 of the video?
Hi! At that point in the video, the Orange Pi isn't on the network yet. I needed to log in on the Orange Pi itself to configure the network. That's why I connected a monitor and keyboard to it. As for all the stuff that goes scrolling past from 4:57 to 5:00 -- those are status messages as various components of the operating system are started during the boot process.
One of my older sons has that shirt! 😂
With your voice like this, I hope you recorded “BV3D after dark”
👍👍👍👍
Do you think i can install orange pi image on a mellow fly pi lite v2.0? Or will i need a different image. Cant seem to find one.
A Big thanks from me :) this guide worked perfect :) tryed some others for a few days until i found this at it worked the first time :)
only have one problem, cant find the /boot/octopi.txt where i should change some webcam settings, do you know where that file is?
Would this work on the following setup:
I have a laptop connected via USB to the Printer, it runs windows 10 natively, then I have a Oracle VM running where I installed Ubuntu and was able to run this script and install Octoprint on it and access it via browser (on the VM) and connect to the printer (with the auto settings on the COM ports and I can see the temperature, turn fans on and off, etc).
the issue/questions now are can I access Octoprint from another PC on the network via browser and how can i send/share files from either the Laptop or another pc on the network with the VM running the Octoprint?
great video. Question: I have Octo print and I'm probable the one person that feels it's way too much for my needs e.g., sledgehammer for a tac. Is there just a send to printer feature I'm not looking for the remote view and all that just looking for a send to printer button like a standard 2d printer.
I know that if you're using Cura, there is a Connect to Octoprint plugin. It takes a few minutes to set up, but then after slicing you get a "Print with OctoPrint" button. Other slicers likely have similar, but Cura is all I know.
Takes a little setup but you can send files out from prusa slicer pretty fast.. here is how th-cam.com/video/5l2695jU2_M/w-d-xo.html
does the script work on Armbian?
Going back to JyersUI firmware upgrade:
(which is over a year old now, and I presume you won't be watching comments)
My printer has a monochrome blue LCD screen.
Do i need to upgrade to a coloured screen for this firmware upgrade to be useful?
Hi, yes, as long as you have the right type of mainboard in the printer, you'll need the Ender-3 V2-style color LCD with the knob. I recommend MRiscoC Professional Firmware over JyersUI now, because Jyers is no longer under development. The MRiscoC firmware has even more features than Jyers now. See my video on MRiscoC here: th-cam.com/video/pxBGBjLC2rk/w-d-xo.html
Can I do this with an Orange Pi zero 3?
Fortune favors the brave. The zero 3 is new an and new on support. You could grab a debian image from orange pi after going to the Zero 3 page. Then run the script BV mentions. I run a premade Obico debian octoprint image on a Orange pi Zero 2 and that's fine. I won't provide a link as my comment keeps getting deleted.
I got it to work on my Orange Pi Zero 3 1GB. When it came to the Octoprint install I got a message (octoprint_install has reached end-of-life and has been replaced by octoprint_deploy) I typed y for yes and ran the deploy command that was given. The setup was a bit different but after the third time it worked. Its faster than my Raspberry Pi Zero and my Banana Pi M2 Zero which both crashed from time to time.. Camera and printer works and loads and restarts much faster than them. I printed a case enclosure for the Orange Pi Zero 3 that I found from Thingyverse with no issues. Thankyou for the video. it was very helpful.
Yes this works just set it up last night runs fine
hi... i have problem add PSU_CONTROL please new video how to 🙂
I've used this script on Ubuntu and PopOs as well - it's super easy. But NO WAY will I go back to running on an RPi or other SBC's. I've got two Thinkcentre M93's (I5's 250GB SSD, 16GB RAM), each running three instances of OctoPrint; each instance can have it's own camera, etc... Never had any issues or problems running three printers at once.
Me too! Using Lenovo ThinkCentre, don't remember the model, but it have passive cooling system without any fans, built in W-Fi with antenna, real SSD, and originally it was running windows 10, while i bought it used, significantly cheaper than Raspberry Pi 4. I have a Home Assistant, Blynk server, and now Klipper and OctoPrint on it. While it's cheaper and way more powerful solution, unfortunately, it's not that easy, as flashing pre-build images on Raspberry Pi.
