He only lied because he thinks he needs to stick to the status quo, which involves being a theater person and being up to date on all musicals. One thing I love a lot about this show is Nini having two moms (which is almost unnoticeable in the beginning) and Carlos and Seb’s relationship. Nobody talks about either that much in the show, which is how it should be; just another part of everyday life. The show doesn't shove the fact that there are gay couples included in our faces, which adds more to the impact than most would think.
It's such a stilted and awkward show to me, but for this I will watch literally all of it because it makes me so happy
Kinda funny how nobody really gives a shit when something like this is not annoyingly showed in our faces combined with a moral lecture.

But the rest of it kinda sucked cuz first of all they broke up nini and ricky for no legit reason. After Ricky said that he was never gonna let her go again last season, he let her go so easily this season.
In fact, I think the only reason they had them break up was to write her off the show since Olivia Rodrigo has become a huge pop star, and they can no longer afford her on a teen tv show. Also, she probably herself wants to focus on her music which sucks but I guess good for her.

Is it really horrible that those characters are the ones I immediately like, am I buying into the stereotype? I have no clue why they are usually the most likable from the beginning through, so they are kinda a comfort(also characters like Harper in the new ICarly), and I’m now realizing that is 100% the stereotype… I hate supporting it but some of the characters that come out of it are my favorites, so am I just being racist and insensitive?

A lot of Canadian shows I watch are mockumentaries and have to do with dance or music like lost and found and the next step now that I think about it.

This show is so good. Honestly... I didn't get the nostalgia because it was past my time, but after the prom episode, this show gets so good and original. Ricky is a very interesting and broken character. You should really review the whole series like you do Riverdale.
I was a teen when HSM movies came out, but I gotta say, this show doesn't exactly give me nostalgia because I think I enjoy it more than the original.
I am still in episode six, but so far I really like how they portray Ricky's character. At first, he seems to be the regular tropey character; a boy with comitment issue. But over time he develops and grows. He has his own probleme and weaknesses but he's willing to try to make things better.
So excited that they renewed this for the third season too!

As a theatre kid, this is an unrealistic masterpiece. Non-seniors would NEVER EVER get leads, much less someone who has no relations to choir, theatre, drama class, or even drama club. Yoooo I understand how you feel and same but in my school for new performances they sometimes give the younger kids with potential to get main leads, usually not for opening night tho. It kinda sucks at times because I’ll be casted as an understudy for a younger student
My school priortizes seniors but sometimes nonseniors can get leads. Like in Grease the pink ladies were 3 seniors, 1 junior, and 1 freshman and the t birds were 3 seniors, and 2 sophmores. Patty and the teacher (i forget her name) were sophmores (although the original teacher was senior but she dropped out and was replaced with a sophmore) and Eugine was a freshman.
The first episode or two kinda sucks but after that it’s 10/10

Honestly, I really liked the show. At first, I thought it would just be a show about a school making a musical, but in the end it was much more than that. They came up with more catchy songs, introduced pretty cool characters, and gave me new things to learn on guitar. I honestly hate how pessimistic Alex is about almost every Disney show or movie. They're mostly made for entertainment, and even if you don't like it, there is someone who does.
I don’t really see Alex as pessimistic but as realistically looking at this as an adult
