I never knew about this scene and I just watched this movie a few days ago and I cried . Wow . When my parents divorced, it wasn’t like this at all but I’ve heard so many families get destroyed just like this . This broke my heart.
You are one of the lucky ones, bud. My parents divorced in 95’ when I was six years old and they have hated and despised each other since then because there’s just so much bad blood between them. Over me and my two brothers, money, who had to move out of the house and who got to keep the house. And now they can never be civil with each other. Too much bad history. I hope you count yourself lucky
Well some parents aren't really great, kind and loving to their children the way they're supposed to. Some parents treat their children like they're the reason things go bad and they take it out on them. Meaning some people don't do well with children. So the parents start saying and doing things to the children that makes them mad and angry at them and they argue and fight about it and they decide they don't want to talk to them anymore and they don't want anything to do with them and they decide they want to write them out of their lives. that pretty much explains why they say they hate their parents because of the way things turned out for them.
This is probably the only time where these three words justify the inhibited pain of their parents. Is it inappropriate to turn a blind eye to emotions this serious?
This is such a depressing scene. This and Gloria’s Surprise were the scenes after Daniel leaves the restaurant and before the last court scene. I can understand why this scene was deleted since it probably would be too sad and everybody in the theater would cry.
I must say that Daniel actually made some valid points in this scene. You see, Miranda needed a housekeeper and Daniel decided to fulfill the role, of course as Mrs. Doubtfire. But anyway, he did mention that it was a job that needed to be done and he’s right, it was and he surprisingly did it well. Now I can understand Miranda’s resentment and how deceived she felt but Daniel did explain that he wanted to see his kids every day and being Mrs. Doubtfire was the only way to do it and his kids always looked up to him despite some of his troubles. Now, I must say that his marriage with Miranda was on its deathbed and judging by everything, it didn’t look like it could be saved. But I do resent Miranda for trying to separate the kids from Daniel and they would’ve hated that and they could’ve resented Miranda for that. But anyway, I hope this provides an understanding insight over what was seen.
They wanted to possibly have them get back together, but the actors felt that was unrealistic. I get that to a degree as love does fade over time and you can fall out of love without reason, but also i read that one reason people get back together is that the problem that started the break up is no longer there. His friend even stated he didn't like kids, but he said I'm pushing 40 and I don't want to be alone.
@@Jopo1226they also originally planned to make Stu the antagonist in the film, where he would’ve told his friend at the pool that he hated kids and planned on shipping the kids to military/boarding school, so he could keep Miranda all to himself. but they made him the opposite of Daniel and everything Miranda seemingly always wanted in a man that she never got during her marriage.
This scene and the spelling bee scene should have stayed in the original film. The reason why they both should have stayed in the original was because it highlighted the fact that the kids were also hurting over the divorce.
I can definitely see why they cut this. Lydia's tearful "I hate you both!" really hurts. That's something two fighting parents never want to hear from their child...
1:12 Nattie's face reminds me of myself when i would hear my parents fighting alot. Me and my sisters would be in a room whether it was theirs (my sisters) or mine and we just hear our parents bickering. I hate hearing the sound of them fighting because it always hurts us, even me.
@robertjenkins5195 the court scene...it's perfect character arc for Miranda when she feels bad after the judge sentence cause she realized how much Daniel grew and he just wanted his kids. The kids saying they hate them basically was the last straw
Out of all the deleted scenes, this one should have definitely been in the movie. It make a lot of sense of what happened next before the court case scene.
No matter how you justify it, they both messed up and never once considered the feelings of their children, therefore neither one of them were right or wrong in this situation. If they had actually done more than just the bare minimum that divorced parents normally do then the situation could’ve been avoided, but instead they both went overboard and ruined their family, ruined whatever relationship they had left, and worst of all made their children hate them.
Mara Wilson is so good because she looks mad, she doesn’t say anything, she runs back upstairs to her room and starts to cry because her parents were fighting, I loved her expression so much, what a beautiful girl seeing her parents arguing too much.
she mentioned during tea with “Mrs Doubtfire” that Daniel was never serious or liked to talk serious about anything. so pretty sure if she did or tried to open up, Daniel more than likely would’ve thought it was a joke and kept being the way he was
How great was the child actors in this movie you really get to see their range in the deleted scenes. Which isn't to say the scenes that made the movie weren't bad either.
I did just that with these scenes after I upscaled them all to HD. I edited the entire film inserting all these clips for a longer movie in my own personal library. Unfortunately TH-cam won’t let me share the whole film like that, it would be blocked worldwide.

you know she complains saying he got her to open up and talk about the marriage yeah and if you two talked more and expressed your feelings you might still be married
This scene really should have been kept in. When you watch it, you realise the film has a hole between the scene at the restaurant and the scene in court. Also, Miranda really needed to call Daniel out for the way he deceived her into talking about their marriage.
Exactly. That’s where despite their differences, Miranda and Daniel both equally messed up that way by only doing what they wanted for themselves; not what was best for the kids. You’re right, in a divorce, no parent should be trying to boost their ego and popularity amongst their children it is not fair on anyone, especially the kids, they have the free will and minds to make their own decisions.
@knowledgegathererdraftsave1979 Maybe I'm wrong and I understand if you disagree but, while Daniel made his fair share of mistakes, I don't believe trying to make the kids love him more was one of them. They both say "they love me" during the argument but I think Daniel was just trying to say that he should be in the kids lives. it sounded like Miranda turned it into a competition over who they loved more.
@@matthewwhite8244 I don’t disagree with you. You make a valid point; no it’s not a bad thing that Daniel wants to be in his children’s lives and for them to love him. Miranda might have made it sound like a competition, but I just had a different view as to what and why Miranda and Daniel did what they did. I believe that Miranda and Daniel’s issue was that they couldn’t and wouldn’t present a united front in their divorce. And because they didn’t do that until the end, it’s my belief that everything they did although they said it was for the children, it really seemed to me that it’s what they wanted so that they could be happy and have what was best for themselves. They both did wrong even if they had their reasons for justifying their means. Thankfully, Miranda saw the light and understood that Daniel meant well and cared about the children that she finally accepted allowing him his right to see them and be their father in the end. A united front for Lydia, Chris and Natalie, that way they were truly doing right by them.
@@knowledgegathererdraftsave1979 All excellent points. Since I brought up Daniel's mistakes, another takeaway from this argument is that I think Daniel was somewhat in denial about the divorce. Some of things he said made it sound like they should get back together like saying they were a family. The fact that he didn't come inside at the end of the movie tells me he saw the light too and accepted the divorce.
Both parents were clearly in the wrong here. Lydia's emotional delivery showed why. It wouldn't be a surprise if neither parent was granted custody of the kids and the children would end up either living with other relatives or be in foster care.
Geez he had nerve coming over after what he did. Miranda really didnt ask for much. Why do the kids hate their mom everything she said was true. He doesnt have any boundaries. Ironically by doing all the things miranda wanted him to do b/c he wanted to be hired impress her keep the job. It extended into his life cooking cleaning his apt. Maybe she never would have divorced him. He seems to want to still be back together. After he just tried to hurt her bf. He knew he was allergic to pepper & he dumps it all over the food.
the problem was Daniel couldn’t get over the divorce and the kids couldn’t get adjusted or used to it either. their marriage was basically a “when mom says no, dad says yes” type marriage, hence why the kids always took Daniel’s side and always wanted to be around him. but i will say it was also bad on her part for bringing Stu in the picture so quickly when the divorce wasn’t even final and only went on for a month or so. but of course, Stu was everything Miranda wanted in a man: successful, mature, responsible, etc. traits that Daniel didn’t portray during their marriage.
Because Miranda was so tired to become the only adult in the marriage and had rules for the family and she works a lot and thought daniel was lazy to keep a job and act like a child and she had to clean up after the kids and him. which I get where she was coming from. But during her process of her divorce, she need to hire extra hands while she works and that is a housekeeper.
The thing about this is it is entirely Miranda's fault they're in this situation. Yes, she wanted the divorce and she got but if she just hadn't been vindictive and said yes to him simply having them after school would've solved everything just fine.
the problem was daniel was also under court order to where he could only see the kids only on saturdays for those 3 months in the court order. so even if miranda allowed him to take the kids after, the judge probably wouldn’t allow it until daniel met the requirements to make sure his apartment was habitable and safe for the kids and he found a job and stuck with it until the next court date
@@kakashigirl2139 very true, since she wasn’t giving daniel the allotted time he was granted under the order. makes you wonder what the judge would’ve done, had daniel reported it
I just found out about this deleted scene. this scene should have been in the movie. great acting by everyone here including the kids. I know it's dark but it would have shown the reality of going thru a divorce.
This scene was probably cut cause it was too dramatic and then jump to the courtroom scene would have killed the audience and make Miranda look like a heartless monster. I wonder if they're scenes where her attorney talks she looks like a ruthless shark for she smirked a lot when Daniel was sentenced to losing contact with kids.
sadly looking at the character, she wasn't the best person. i think sally field did great job, but a few things her character herself seemed like she tried erasing daniel after the divorce, which wasn't right to do to her kids.
Hey everyone, I want to talk about this scene that didn't make it into the final cut of the movie that director Chris Columbus had to remove. I think the main reason why Daniel told Miranda why he disguised himself as Mrs. Doubtfire because he wanted more time with his kids. He went on to say that he wasn't going to give any more information to her about the whole thing because it was none of her business. But Miranda needs an answer so she can get more information about the whole thing. But Daniel told her "no" because it was a private thing for himself, Not for her. So he had no comment to tell her about why he disguised himself as Mrs. Doubtfire. But Miranda needs an answer. Again, Daniel told her "no" that he wasn't going to tell her why he did this because it was none of her business. We have a scene during the restaurant fiasco after he saved Stu's life when he was choking from the pepper, He wanted to tell her about it when he was touching her arm or hand so she can listen to him about the whole thing, But she refuses to listen to it and was ordering him not to touch her as she storms out with her anger with the kids. But I am glad that he had to apologize to Stu for putting the pepper onto his shrimp which he was allergic to. Stu accepts his apology and left. He orders the people to stop staring as he says that the show was over. I might be worried that they were going to say "no" at him. Daniel gives them the pointed look with his anger at them and orders them to stop staring. But they refused to stop. So what really happen in that scene anyway? Did he tell her the reason he did this when he was in disguise?

Exactly Chris Columbus need to Release it as an extended version from 20th Century Studios in theaters or on 4K Ultra, Blu-Ray and DVD
Definitely!
Yep.
@@GageLucasOldhamOfficialDefinitely
Both of them acted like children, I don’t blame the kids for that.
Which Daniel became responsible and got a job he was able to do with ethics and be a provider. It was left ambiguous, but despite theories I think she does take him back. Her new boyfriend just didn't want to be alone. Stu was basically using her as she had a premade family and didn't have to start fresh.
Sally and Robins performance is phenomenal
Miranda was so full of anger and rage that she forgot what was truly important.

While I love this scene, what do you follow up with
@robertjenkins5195 the court scene...it's perfect character arc for Miranda when she feels bad after the judge sentence cause she realized how much Daniel grew and he just wanted his kids. The kids saying they hate them basically was the last straw
It works on its own but not in the flow of the movie
Out of all the deleted scenes, this one should have definitely been in the movie. It make a lot of sense of what happened next before the court case scene.

My mom and dad never argues like that I love them both
Mom and dad argue little bit but my sister Jenny Loves me but also my mom and dad argue a little bit but they love me too
Sally Field should've shouted this. "I cannot forgive you... FOR THROWING ME RIGHT UNDER THE GODDAMN BUS!!!"
“I don’t wanna hurt our children.”
This is why she said it.
Yea it makes even more sense after this scene

Mara Wilson is so good because she looks mad, she doesn’t say anything, she runs back upstairs to her room and starts to cry because her parents were fighting, I loved her expression so much, what a beautiful girl seeing her parents arguing too much.
That part where Miranda said you encouraged me to "talk openly about my feelings." Well maybe she should been more truthful before it got to divorce.
she mentioned during tea with “Mrs Doubtfire” that Daniel was never serious or liked to talk serious about anything. so pretty sure if she did or tried to open up, Daniel more than likely would’ve thought it was a joke and kept being the way he was
How great was the child actors in this movie you really get to see their range in the deleted scenes. Which isn't to say the scenes that made the movie weren't bad either.

The part of Lydia telling her parents she hates both of them is too harsh and mean spirited to keep. Not surprised it was taken out and it's for the best.
@@leoprince691the reason why she said that it's cause she's the one suffering with their divorce alot more than the other two cause she's the oldest and it's destroying her both mentally and emotionally, that's alot of pressure to put onto a child her age.

They shouldn't be trying to make the kids love one parent over the other.
@@matthewwhite8244
I don’t disagree with you.
It needed to be cut, there was no way after the outburst in the restaurant from miranda, that she would want to talk or see Daniel so soon.
Exactly! After he said show's over, it looked like he just went on home.
No wonder this scene was cut. Too heartbreaking. 💔💔💔💔
Don't you get it?! You're the reason for the whole deceit!!!
Both parents were clearly in the wrong here. Lydia's emotional delivery showed why. It wouldn't be a surprise if neither parent was granted custody of the kids and the children would end up either living with other relatives or be in foster care.
I feel like maybe they should have kept a scene in the movie
I wish they kept this in the movie
Question: Why is Daniel being a Overgrown Baby?
Why would Miranda wanted a divorce from the beginning?

This argument was disaster i feel bad the kids had to hear all that.
I never liked Miranda, it's like she always had to WIN one way or the other.

They should have kept this scene in the film including the deleted scenes too.

Why did they had to argue in the MIDDLE of the hallway, where they can listen to everything,
Why not in their own bedroom leaving the kids out of it?
Well-acted, but dark and cruel. Since Shore had already scored it, typically one of the last things done, it must have been chopped after test audiences rejected it.
