Casper Aviation Platoon flew rescue missions during the storm, including at least one night mission (My bird.). Casper saved many Troopers' lives and the lives of Vietnamese villagers. All respect an honour to you all. I was in my previous government military here in South Africa. We had the Angola war, or also known as the "bush war" for 23 years. From 1966 till 1989. We, the soldiers had won the war, but our politicians had lost the war. Now we have a new government since 1994, and more people are getting murdered in a year than ever before. It's a war zone down hear, and best of all. Our government doesn't requegnice farm killings. Our farmers, who provide food for us, getting murdered in very brutal ways.... 😢😢

I flew in a Huey to JTFB in 1987 when I transferred off my ship near El Salvador. Check the bird's flight records. It was built in 1967 and saw combat in Viet Nam about the same time I was in the Pac.
FROM COCHABAMBA BOLIVIA. MY NAME IS WILFREDO JURADO. BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL SONG!!!!
Love seeing the UH-1B and C models fly.
My HUEY was an HU1C. Quite an improvement over the -A- and -B-
Very appropriate. I believe Johnny would be honored.
A squadron of the AC-130 gunships also is called Ghost Riders. They play this song on combat missions, the rock version.
That what I remember
If it was the rock version without lyrics then it was The Ventures (1961version had waling ghosts) OR Neil LeVang (1961 version had waling women) BOTH MEAN AS HE*L SOUND over load speakers. I bet it was LeVang version scare the he*l out of Charlie knowing death was knocking on his door. With lyrics it was Marty Robbins or Burl Ives. It was not The Outlaws (1975), Johnny Cash (1979).

God bless the Veterans who fought for us!
After all these years since the Vietnam war, the only thing left now are the "Ghost Riders in the Sky". (1st Air Cav - 1968)
If you weren't there, you have no idea. We were proud of not being a part of the 1st. Aviation Brigade. We belonged to the 173rd. Airborne Brigade (SEP.) Where it went, we went. We stayed with the Brigade when all 1st. Aviation Brigade birds were evacuated during a tropical storm which came ashore in our AO. Many of us sat in our Hueys during the storm waiting for missions. Casper Aviation Platoon flew rescue missions during the storm, including at least one night mission (My bird.). Casper saved many Troopers' lives and the lives of Vietnamese villagers. It was our job. AATW!
Me: 70 years ! I was a teenager during this war ! Still listing the Vietnam music to remember the pain and sorrow the soldiers had to feel in this bloody hell !,to all the brothers in arm whish you luck and happiness . Lots of love from Ine in the Netherlands,😥✌️🎶🤭👍💫🦋🦋🦋🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for you service and sacrifice
Graduated from a 3yr RN program, went to enlist but was turned away because I didn't have a Bachelor's degree. Now 50 yes later at the end of my nursing career and still feel the way I did then. To all who served so much is owed.
My Father was a POW in Korea. Could have gotten out of the service. I was old enough the remember to Rember my Father coming home. My big brother going. 6 months later seeing my big brother in a box. I did 25.... Do I want anything ? No just to be left alone. Sad when People remember when it is cool to remember.
I love you guys forever! You were the heros of my youth and the solid patriots these days. God Bless you all.
I used to ride into a landing zone, one foot on the skid, the other holding my rifle. Now I look over a bridge and get dizzy. Figure that out. Old Shrapnel ass 198th Light Infantry Brigade 1968...where we seperated the men from the boys.
I'm not american, but thank you for your service. Good luck for you and for yours sir.

I will never forget those eagle flights to another dog fight for survival, after landing in some nasty battlefields and all those warriors that walked, flew or sailed towards our enemies and death itself be with God warriors, those that did not make it back across the water..Doc.,,🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks, guys. My Dad was over there for three tours. I remember my Mom calling out for him in the middle of the night.
Although I joined in 94, I had the privilege to work on these old birds in Korea. They had to be some of the last few in active service. It meant a lot because dad flew in them when they were fairly new and very much active. Made it home but caught up to him a few years ago.

The 335th AHC was a component of the 173rd for the first half of the time the 173rd was in Viet Nam. We were called the COWBOYS. So it fits in well with the COWBOYS chasing THE HERD.
1/84 FA , assigned to the 9th infantry!!!! Sad times !!!!
I listen to this song nearly every day on my Google Nest while making breakfast. A very cool attachment to this video!
UH1bs. If flown with the doors off, the frames would develop cracks. When replaced with the Ds, the Bs became gunships. The Ds slicks.

My grandfather is/was one. He passed away in 06. I miss him so much. He never would talk to us about Vietnam.
My Grandmother worked for Bell in the weights and engineering dept. In the early 60s. She was there for the introduction of the Uh-1 and the Ah-1. No doubt I've been a rotor head my 53 years
All respect an honour to you all. 😢😢

Sgt. Wallace 2/b/503 68/69 here. Nice song and video BUT I think a song that better captured the feeling of the times was either Break on through the other side or The End, both by the Doors.
I got stage one prostate cancer from exposure to Agent Orange. I am lucky because it was caught early as part of a bladder issue. FYI brothers. The VA is paying 100% disability if you have the right MOS. I was 11bravo..
