Due to the Ghost Rider re-branding, Carter Slade is often forgotten as the first actual Ghost Rider, not Johnny. It's good that despite this movie's reputation as being one of the "bad" superhero movies, it paid respect to the actual comic book history. That one scene of the two of them riding across the Western desert made the whole movie.

In the comics, there's a Ghost Rider of 1,000,000 B.C. (human history is kind of different in Marvel, there were human-like people around earlier than in the real world). He rides a flaming woolly mammoth. He's a member of the first iteration of the Avengers (that the modern ones probably know nothing about): Odin, Firehair (a red-headed mutant who was the first host of the Phoenix Force on Earth (and possibly the reason it seems to keep seeking out mutant human redheads on Earth), Ghost Rider, Iron Fist (the then-current champion of Kun-Lun), the first Black Panther, Agamotto (when he was a mortal-born son of Oshtur and Hoggoth fated to lay the groundwork for mortals to learn sorcery, before he ascended to godhood), Starbrand (a gay Neanderthal, and no, I'm not making any part of that up), and Odin, All-Father of Asgard and wielder (with a lot of cussing about it not obeying him) of Mjolnir. The comics are called Avengers 1,000,000 BC. Worth a read.

As Ghost Riders change more and more, they learn to control their actions and eventually they learn to fully control the Ghost Rider spirit, transforming only when they intend to. Carter Slade had 500 transformations as part of his contract. Might not sound like too many - it isn't even enough for a year and a half of transforming every night - but this movie showed us how quickly it's possible to gain control over the Ghost Rider. Johnny Blaze transformed like 3 times with no control over his actions or transformation and then was able to influence the Rider's actions, which led to him being able to control the Rider in this clip. In the second movie, his control slips a little, likely due to his self-isolation, but he becomes powerful enough as a Ghost Rider to revive the dead.

My only wish was for this scene to be longer, and gave them more screen time together… absolutely epic ❤ 👏

The Rider must comeback to the MCU on the big screen
Really does. Ghost rider is the only marvel movie i like
Ghost Rider would have beaten Thanos by himself.
@@walden6272 If I remember correctly, Ghost rider can’t use his stare thing to thanos because thanos don’t think what he did is wrong or he feel guilt for what he done. But if we count only brute force I’m still not sure.
@@walteraer5493 It doesn't matter what the person think but the stare will make them experience the sufferings of those who they killed.
@@walteraer5493 He regrets for Gamora's death
I like how despite being no longer in his prime, Slade was faster than Johnny. A younger Slade would be terrifying in the late 1800s (he is over 100 years old).
i am rather with the camp "Johnny was only matching Slade´s as Slade knew where to go,whilst Johnny didn´t." and its kinda evident when you see where they stopped (on a spot, from which Johnny himself already could´ve seen where to go next, thus no longer needing a "tour" guide)
He did outride the devil
@@Oi325 well, the Devil even in the modern days did not like light that much, which as we saw gave Slade an advantage, with his sudden transformation acting like a flashbang, plus maybe since then Devil got better as he was seemingly able to appear in front of young Johnny driving somewhere
@@r3l1csvk yeah that's true!!
3:45 shows how experienced Slade is for if GR really turns into his "evil" form in presence of evil was really just experiencxe,or control not wasting that last time when Blackheart and co. came to him and beaten the crap off of him
As Ghost Riders change more and more, they learn to control their actions and eventually they learn to fully control the Ghost Rider spirit, transforming only when they intend to.
2:33 really gives ghoosbumps 🔥
This is exactly how it felt like back when I was 19 and had my first own sport bike which I bought with my own money, while my dad restored his old Yamaha 150 cruiser and we went on a ride for about 100 kilometers north of my province.
Sam Elliott is an amazing actor, really enjoyed all his movies and his commercials. His voice should be a national treasure.
That pic of them riding side by side has got to be one of most flawless and icy-ist scenes ever..
Let's ride and then seeing them both ride side by side
Still gives me goosebumps to this day
This film is a gem ❤️👍
Another great scene, seeing the two Ghost Riders riding side by side never fails to excite me especially the background music 🎵🎶
1:37 that feeling when your Father decides to acompany you on your suicide mission
the soundtrack @1:45 gives chills everytime
It’s always been one of my favorite scenes in this movie if not my favorite
The best scene of Ghost Rider.
With the building scene
Johnny: Can you keep up?
Carter: The question is lil boy...can *YOU* keep up?
Most BADASS scene in the movies. A lot of respect for Sam Elliot, he put as much as he could into that end scene. I could feel it.
❤ truth ❤
I want a remake where these two team up thru the whole movie.
This one scene is so badass and beautiful.
I needed 10 more minutes of Sam Elliot's Ghost Rider
By far the coolest transformation in Marvel Universe
That music build up was just dope🤌🔥
My dad (RIP) mentioned many years ago that the one thing that he disliked about this 'underrated' movie was that the two Ghost Riders didn't fight side-by-side. He told me and my younger brother that would have been awesome.
Poor lizard probably just taking a chill and then instantly get toast 🤣🤣🤣
The lizard is reference to a similar scene from Raising Arizona, where the bounty hunter did pretty much the same thing.
my reaction was 😭
the lizard was guilty
This movie was not as bad as the reviews made it out to be, as technology was improving for the CGI needs. This is simply THE BEST scene in the movie for me, and let’s not forget to pay our respects by sharing that they FREAKIN NAILED the scene with the classic riff w/ an updated touch from Spiderbait, “(Ghost) Riders in the Sky”. Carter Slade was always my favorite Marvel Ghost Rider, or for those who had subscriptions in our youth & happen to know Carter by these Alias also, the Galloping Ghost, Night Rider, (or possibly) Haunted Horseman or He Who Rides the Night Winds. 🍻🤘🏼🍻
2:31 "Let's ride" best and most fitting way to change into the Rider, two lawmen out to bring down a criminal once and for all.
2:47 He looks like the perfect Ghost Rider in this shot from behind, and though I may not think it's a GOOD movie, I do like some of the shots they use in it
Why oh why couldn't we get a Carter Slade Prequel? The character was amazing and would've loved a movie based around the old west.
Who would play Slade?
@Chef204 That I'm not sure. I'm not a casting sort of guy, and too much time has gone by between then and now.
@@chef2042Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Well then let's just bow our heads in silence for what could've been a fantastic prequel. 🙏
I remember seeing this for the first time and when “Ghost Riders In The Sky” started playing I was thinking, “It’s about damn time!”
What a great scene!
16 years on, I still get goosebumps when the bass comes in
This is honestly one of the most badass scenes in any Marvel movie
The most awesome scene in marvel cinema 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The way the horse runs along the beat of the song playing goes so hard I get chills everytime watching that scene 🤠
Saw this scene at the cinema when I was a kid, still amazed with it until this day
