if youre gonna compare the base gtr to a turbo s, bring up the nismo edition. Or might as well the base 911 of the porsche that a gtr can beat easily on a quarter mile. Cmon
@@velocitycrew Well if thats the case then the gtr shouldnt be compared to a turbo s. It should be compared to its closer competitor and price range. Which is fair considering that the basic 911 is still more expensive than the gtr,
It took Porsche 2 whole generations of 911 to finally put down the GTR and it has largely gone untouched for 12 years which is a looong time for any car let alone a super car. But here we are in 2020 and we are still talking about it... So yeah the GTR is awesome.
Many thanks for the kind words, and glad to see it well received. This is the approach I plan to continue taking in future videos. Feel free to subscribe for updates!
Ayy shoutout to the DBZ reference! Love your detailed breakdowns of the biggest cars in the field. I subscribed after seeing your C63 video, keep up the content!
Couldn’t agree more, new owner of a 2020 GTR (a dream come true) and the community has been wonderful, all Nissan communities have been largely this way. A while back in 2012 I had a Mazdaspeed3 and that community was toxic and fueled by the rudest jerks I’ve ever encountered online, I mean you’d think a bunch of “adults”’owning a 25k car would have a little more humility and not act like total elitist trash, but it is what it is..... I was clearly above the Frey and that’s evident today, doubt any of them drive anything nearly as cool as a GTR today. Karma Bitches!
I have just done some research...The porsche that you mentioned that beat the GTR on nurburgring is over 300hp more lmao! It is nearly 900 bhp! You call that evolving? The nismo that did the nurburg lap was under 500 hp, google it... Give nissan the budget & HP that Porsche has for that spyder & what do you think will happen? When a car beats the GTR with the same budget/power/weight then do a video talking about the GTR not evolving...Up to now you havent gave any true example of another car that has even caught up to the evolution of the GTR in price/power/weight/safety on ice etc
I think the new 992 Turbo S has 640 HP, not sure which one had 900 HP. However, one car that has definitely evolved to be mentioned in that same "value for money" category is the C8 Corvette like I mentioned. The E63S and M5 Comp which are similarly priced to the 2020 GTR also provide similar performance and have AWD, safety, practicality, etc. They just don't have the same exotic factor. Definitely not knocking the GTR, I love the car, but there's definitely a lot to consider at that price (new, MSRP ~$110k).
A lot of GT-R owners like me need to watch the whole video before making a comment. I think it's an awesome car. A Porsche of similar performance and fit will cost you way more - and I may get a Porsche next, but any regrets getting a new 2020 GT-R ? Hell no. It's brilliant. I like the PlayStation control set. I like the Japanese design. When I put my foot down - I know what I am paying for.
Did you adjust for inflation in the data chart? Thanks for the video. Also I kinda wish you talked about how much that sweet spot 2015 and 2016 GTR price are and a graph.
What most of you guys who do these GTR assesment videos always seem to miss is 1: In its own country to its own people it is as cheap as a family car. 2: It is safer than most 4×4s on snow & gravel 3: Its opponents are always lighter have far more hp or are racing kitted when they beat the GTR(or far more expensive). It beat the ferrari enzo & the 1000hp bugatti veyron around the top gear test track in the uk
It’s still quite an epic car, just interesting to look back and see how it’s evolved vs. the competition. Definitely a US bias on the price analysis though. Not sure how things are in the international markets.
The gap has definitely swayed in the opposite direction from when the GTR was destroying the 997 Turbo across the board in 09-12. Of course it’s hard to really compare them these days due to the price of the 992 Turbo S, which is nearly double. I wonder if the next generation GTR will unsettle the market once again.

@Ramanpreet Mann www.jdpower.com/business/press-releases/2020-us-vehicle-dependability-study Well not according to studies. Link above. Yes i work at Nissan.
@Ramanpreet Mann I owned and driven almost all cars besides for super exotics like Lamborghini and Ferrari. Most German and Japanese and an American car once. American cars are real bad. Japanese cars are not good. Toyota and Lexus are the only reliable Japanese cars the rest are average at best. Germans are good and safer. Most German cars require expensive maintenance and gas but brakes last longer etc... I had a client come in today with 20 000kms on his Nissan. Brakes were completely finished... yeah good old Nissan quality. "Japanese reliability" lol
Who spotted the Camaro cameo?

The point was that the GTR was always compared to the Turbo, and it’s interesting to see how they have both evolved.

Love the details. Keep doing that cause most people just gloss over this stuff without really putting things into perspective.

Congrats on the 2020! Making this video def made me miss mine. Regardless, I met a lot of cool people who either loved the car or had one themselves.

Yes it's a beauty. And if you can get hold of a nismo...all the better
Thank you.

@@velocitycrew The porsche that you just said that does the 0-60 in 2.3 secs...what is the price/weight/power difference?
