They did the same with the infiniti G37 and the 370Z. Not investing in new models but taking a well done platform as far as possible. A used G37 with a Stillen blower is a good option for performance on a budget.

I'll never forget my first experience driving a GTR. I sold cars at a Nissan store, and our dealer group happened to sponsor our local cars and coffee on Saturday mornings. I was a tenured guy (still at same place btw) and when we got our first, unsold, GTR allocation I was invited to drive it to CnC one Saturday morning. I got to bring the keys home with me Friday night, and slept with them by my bed. We met at our Ford store Saturday morning at 6 am, we had a Cobra replica with a 5.0, a 911 Turbo S, a Mercedes SL63 and a Roush Mustang ready to go. The drive to the event is about 20 minutes and is mostly back roads. I was expecting a nice drive back there, I never had been included with these guys before who were all managers so I was not sure what to expect. Once we hit the first of the twisties they all took off 😂. I remember vividly taking one turn I was very familiar with, which I've taken in my STi many many times, at approximately double the speed I was usually comfortable with. The car truly makes you feel like you are an F1 driver which is slightly concerning when you realize what is going on. The way it sucks to the tarmac and pushes and pulls you through corners is truly unlike anything else. When we got there and parked, I got out and realized how special this car truly is.

Throttle House videos are the closest content to Top Gear in the past 8 years. The way it's shot, the perfect humor, the UNMATCHED review of each car and the emotion of driving not just fast cars, but fun cars. 200k R8s, Trucks, Track Days, Grand Nationals... Great video! I bought a used 2010 GTR Premium back in 2018 for $36,000. Had to be the cheapest, clean title GTR in the country (USA). After some simple DIY upgrades and tuning it's a reliable daily driver with 710 crank horsepower. This is my second GTR. I had a 2009 which I built for road course duty and was still a daily driver. About 3 weeks after I sold the 2009 (to help buy a nicer house) I was sorry I did and immediately started looking for another GTR. Found the 2010 and have been a happy owner ever since. Best bang for the buck on the planet.

It’s a shame the GT-R is not really considered in europe as a “cheap” reliable platform. It’s so expensive here it’s crazy. The GTR will run you anywhere between €70k and €150k, yes, thats for a used one, ofcourse depending on model year and the range is 100k all the way to 250k+ for exclusive package. Not to speak about more recent years, it just goes up to crazy numbers. It would be more logical here to get a 991.2 carrera s and just tune it, you get newer and better car in a lot of metrics, for cheaper. it would be an emotional decision to get a Gt-R, rather than a bang for buck one, which i think kind of defeats the purpose of what the GT-R was supposed to be. I still think about that time when this thing came out and shitted on everything 3 times its price, i fell in love with it’s purpose, capabilities and its timeless design. They are very rare here, compared to an 911 for example.

A lot of the price increase has been inflation and economies of scale. I'm just happy they are still making them, so many folks complain when a company stops making cars because "it's not economical". The fact they are still taking orders is awesome, I wish they did a few updates to the interior electronics though, nothing huge just better and snappier graphics on the same size screen. I also wish they would release R32-34 GT-R "kits", where you buy a new chassis and RB setup of choice separately and register it as a kit car.

Some of the best things are made and perfected over many years. People seem to forget this. Or you get a product that is half assed with quirks or you get like what you got with the LFA where it took forever to perfect and by the time it came out the competition had more power better electronics for the same price thus not selling nearly the amount they deserved to. Having owned R35 GTR’s over the years starting back in fall of 2008 (an early 2009 model) to a 2013 GTR Premium and lastly a 2017 GTR I can tell you the car has evolved quite a bit more than people sometimes realize, however, if years down the road I was looking to relive that R35 GTR experience it would undoubtedly be the early cars and I have a feeling those will be the most desirable for sure. The 2009 made so many unusual noises that were quieted down dramatically in the newer versions. The center console creaked/rattled on every one I drove, the suspension rode almost the same in every setting ….which was harsh in all, the steering was heavy but with a surprising amount of feel coming back through. The 2013’s was mostly just a better car….engine/trans seemed smoother, the car was rock solid with no squeaks/rattles whatsoever, the brakes were better, just everything improved from the 2009 and in Deep Blue Pearl it really looked great in my opinion and was maybe the peak of its styling. The latest ones were the biggest changes actually came though and the reason why I stopped buying them, the direction and focus of the car was gone once Kazutoshi Mizuno (chief engineer) retired. The 2017 which is mechanically almost identical to the current car was instantly different than the others…..steering was now Lexus like, super light and no feel. The suspension was actually soft in comfort mode, the car had noticeable fake engine noise in the cabin, and all the GTR noises were gone, the interior had a much higher grade leather package available and the car was just different….felt like all the rough edges were completely sanded down. Not to mention that, atleast in my opinion, the cleaner styling of the original design was fully gone by 2017 when they tried to incorporate Nissans “V Motion” grill that was appearing in some form on all their vehicles and the cheap looking lower body cladding along with fussy new wheel designs. Supposedly this direction change was a result of the new GTR project manager (who replaced Mizuno after he was forced into retirement because of age according to Japanese laws) attempting to go after buyers of 911 Turbos and R8 buyers and bring the car upmarket. Except in my opinion those customers never cross shopped the GTR anyways and even if it technically made the GTR a better “car” it actually (in my opinion) made it a worse “GTR”. So my take is, if you want the best GTR experience go with a 2014 or earlier

Yup - those dropping $200,000 want that "status" symbol.... "not all" but - I think there is a factor. " I drive a $200,000 Nissan" does not sound the same as: "I drive a 911"...
Also - my assumption is this: A 911 driver is more likely to be left alone on the road - while - a GTR driver is going to face CONSTANT harassment from virtually everyone who "lets race DUDE BRO" has in their possesion the typical "checklist" items:
      1) FLAT BILLED HAT

It was the car that beat the 997.1 turbo on Nurburgring, at half the cost. It ruffled some feather in Stuttgart. The 997.2 turbo barely kept up in acceleration. Only the 991 turbo finally came and was a competitor on paper. But of course we are now at the end of the 992.1 gen and the GTR remained mostly similar when Porsche was selling the 997.1.

The front engine setup is the only thing that keeps it out of demolishing track records like the 911 or AMG One. I think Nissan could pull it off in making a mid-engine type of car with a hybrid assist electric motor that would be ridiculously fast if they wanted to. I just don't see them going that direction with performance cars anymore after the Z came out. What not everyone knows is the R35 is one of the kings of street racing and tuning. With the VR38 motor a DCT and AWD, it can pretty much beat anything on the road in a straight line once it's been beefed up a little with bigger turbos and built motor.

Thanks for honoring the GT-R legend with an own video! A 2009 GT-R is not neccessarily bad or cheap, it may be a bit more service intense than a first technically revised model. The feeling to drive it can be different, as they became more comfortable in suspension over the years. The question is if a 2024 GT-R is worth a heavy price jump. Because you released this video early in the morning for me, I feel a powerful urge to stop working and drive my 2009 GTR that I have lightly modded up to 650hp for essentially pennies compared to getting a 2024 T-Spec. I bought it new in March 2009 for 73,000 USD. Back then, it really was a bargain. That was easily the best car decision I ever made. It still puts a smile on my face to this day. You can just make it your own in a thousand different ways. I was wondering about the steering feel updates over the years. Thanks so much for making it clear in this video. The 2013 GTR I drove long ago still felt spectacular to drive. If anyone is looking for a "sweet spot" to buy one, look at the 2013 - 2015 or so...
Also, it was only 480hp for a few months (at most 9 months) or so in 2009. Nissan provided a minor update and I took my car back to the dealer for an update to 485 on a still stock and warrantied GTR.

I sold the first 2 GTR’s in CO, one of the purchasers was taking it to Russia to sell there. It’s one of the few factory cars that scared the shit out of me when he was driving it. The acceleration is truly nuts, and when he let me drive it I realized this car makes anyone seem like a racer, the way it corners, you can go to hot into a corner and it will fix it, too slow, or wrong angle it fixes everything and the car is always accelerating, it feels like there is not weak spot in the rev range. I’ve tracked raced, autocross, and rally and while I still prefer my lightweight high reving NA rwd cars, that car was 77k I believe in 2008 early 2009, it was a superb deal. The other guy that bought one during the winter and too fast into a corner and curbed the wheel, messed up the front brake and a couple suspension pieces. Unfortunately you can’t replace one tire on that car, the repaired took 30 days and cost 23k, we only had one gtr tech at the time.

🤓 AKtchually 😂 no but seriously that's mostly just inflation. Cars are collectors items if they have a niche following. Their value increase based on availability and popularity. Supply and demand baby. Also 100k is now considered sports car territory. And 200-550k usually contain the "super" spec models of cars. Respectively hypercas are in a league of their own. People also forget how expensive R&D is. The parts and labor may not cost 2.5 million on the new Bugatti, but some of these teams are spending millions just researching and testing new axles or ways to maintain structural rigidity whilst cutting weight simultaneously. It's a lot. Sorry for the rant.

It's one of the last of the "analog" feeling supercars in production though, modern cars can be faster but they feel like I'm driving a spaceship with little feedback. GT3 is probably the closest to the driving feel. The special edition GT-Rs (and other JDM sports cars) have always been insanely priced, they're more of a domestic market seller for them though, and if they can sell a few overseas to collectors and folks with more money than a deity then so be it. Let's put it this way an old (in immaculate condition) and new NSX are about the same price but a lot of drivers still want old one, even though the new one is the objectively better car in nearly every way except for driver engagement and lack of an H shift.

We love the GTR for what it was, not for what it is. The GTR used to beat a 911 off the line, now it costs as much as a 911.wirh less performance (and refinement). The GTR used to be a supercar killer for a fraction of the price, now that title goes to the C8 Corvette. If the GTR were to go on sale today for the very first time it would be comical considering the price. We only show today's GTR respect because of its heritage.

The biggest thing with the GTR is that still to this day almost nothing can bring its level of power for a similar price, and plenty of people are paying much much MUCH more for much less

I had an 09 GT-R for 7 years now I have a 2017 with the Orange Interior. The difference between how it drives is not significant but I appreciate the better interior and the lower road noise on long road trips. It does feel like an old car nowdays but that's why I like it..

I'm 35 and used to LOVE the GTR when it debuted. Now I just associate Nissan as the beat up Altima doing 90 weaving in and out of traffic with blacked out tint. And the non existent Z that I've yet to spot in the wild. In Chicago. I wonder why I used to be such a big fan boy of the brand. Imagine taking Godzilla to the dealership and that said Altima pulls up. 😂

It's possible to diversify your investments at any stage in life. I personally sought out new investment options as I am in my 40s. I received a recommendation for a trustworthy broker from influential figures in the market and with her assistance, I was able to significantly grow my assets from $250,000 to $1,000,000 within the first two months of the year.

I lnvested across the top markets but not by myself though. I also follow the guidelines of Evelyn infurna. I can correctly say she is worth her salt as an investment advisor as her diversification skills is top-notch, I say this because of the results, as my portfolio grows by averages of 20 to 30% every month, unlike I can say for my IRA which has just been trudging along. my portfolio just mirrors what he places and not just on some particular industries of my choosing.she gave me that financial freedom I needed.

The fact that they can get a used GTR for that kind of money is incredible. It really puts cars with markup and perspective. For example, there’s Marco on the new Honda Civic Type R’s push them into the 70K range. At 70K they compete with nothing at that class. The fact that you get to use GTR for cheaper is insane.

The only real "sin" Nissan committed was not updating the interior electronics. The aftermarket setup in that 2009 is a bit much, maybe a screen half that size and keep all the analog buttons and dash. I'm glad they are still taking orders and putting fresh chassis on the streets though, and it doesn't keep the older chassis from loosing value also, mark of a classic in making. If I had that amount of money burning a hole in my pocket I would get a new one in MPIII please and thank you! If I was building a track day car, definitely an older one to upgrade the cooling for track duty.
