Exactly. He did his own thing and was authentic. Totally true to himself and never putting on a show for anyone. He didn't try to fit into any metal stereotype or put on a facade for the fans, the press or his genre. In fact, he tried to dispel any preconceived noticed that some people might have had about him due to the type of music he played. He emphasized over and over again that he was just a nice, down to earth, normal guy and definitely was not evil. hehe. He was THE man. I wish more musicians were like him. Especially our metal guys.
@@dhelsgade same bere. I discovered him in 2020. About the only good thing to come from it. Chuck inspired me to play guitar differently ans even play his songs. Wish he was still alive, im 22 now and honestly i gotta say Death is my favorite band. It kills me I'll never truly witness the greatness that is Chuck Schuldiner and Death
Yes, it is hard and Eric, my warrior, "made" me watch this. I usually avoid seeing Chuck laugh and talk; this is for selfish reasons as it makes me painfully aware of whom I have lost. However, I am grateful that Eric called me and walked me through it. "Bite the Pain".....Thank you for being aware of the double edge sword-With Sincerest Regards, Beth Schuldiner
I had the pleasure of meeting Chuck a couple of times and he was a very quiet reserved but very nice guy. The second time I met him I happened to be at Morrisound with the guys from Suffocation while they were recording. Chuck was there doing some work as well and he was very upset because Bevis & Butthead had just ripped on him and the video for the Philosopher. We all told him don't sweat it man, it's good publicity and he agreed. Couple months later Death had sold many thousands more records.
I understand your feelings. However, don't listen to the rumors - Chuck's sister Beth made sure that he had everything he needed medically, although it is true that it wiped out their savings entirely. The plain, sad reality is that Chuck had a very aggressive and destructive cancer, and it killed him. :(
R.I.P Eric Greif. Rest easy, and i hope if heaven exist, you'll be there hanging out with him. Thank you for everything you've done with Death and preserving and protecting the legacy of Chuck Schuldiner and Death.
@brunthroath6912 I'm fucking getting fatigued by this question. Chuck was not gay. I shared rooms with him on the road & off the road. We were buddies. He had long term girlfriends. The point is that we spent a lot of time with our hair, we wore fairly tight jeans, and we like kittens. Some of my good friends are gay, so I couldn't care less - but Chuck wasn't gay. OK? :) ERIC GREIF (the maker of this film & former manager of DEATH)
Hi Eric, I am a long time fan of death. My condolences to you and the family of Chuck. Thank you for all you are doing for the schuldiners and death fans around the world. Can't wait to watch the new upcoming Documentary. I wish you didn't have to defend Chucks sexuality, whatever it might be. Being a Canadian and loosing another great artist in Gord Downie this week, I wish chuck had the health care funding behind him to give him a better fight. Thanks for all you do for The death fans.
it's hard to see him not smiling on this video. What a great dude, chuck is the best. I wish he was still alive, imagine how would the next death albums sound like.
These are gems in the internet. I’ve been surfing youtube for videos of Chuck and Death, luckily we have Mr. Greif for these awesome clips. Thank you so much for these!
@anniegoosie Thanks, Goose. I'm glad everyone likes my little video of me & Chuck. I hope to edit some more from the hours & hours of film I have of our metal travels. And lots of shots of his nose. ERIC
It always makes me smile, but a bit sad to see Chuck in a video like this. His music has been such an inspiration to my own guitar playing and song writing. It is a true testament to his talent, that I felt I knew him through his music, like I could have ran into him at a restaurant and pick up a conversion like old friends. Few others have shared their soul in such a way. He lives on in his music, in our memories, in our hearts, and in all the art he has inspired in others.
I love you too, never forgot about you, you are my blood. Beth, thank you for this upload i saw this video lots of muc h time but ,, today on sunday 1 may...miss him im sorry.
Chuck was a legend, seemed like such a down to earth fella. I also like how he "breaks" away from most Death Metal stereotypes. Instead of the typical things associated with Death Metal, he likes to play with his hair.
What a great human being. I would do anything to have a convetsation with him. Or at least shake his hand. A huge inspiration on me as a musician and a person. Rest In Peace, Chuck.
@Helvetorment THANKS H! Chuck wasn't just my business associate - he was my buddy. I miss him every day of the year. One super cool thing is that so many folks are still talking about him, listening to his music and keeping his legacy alive. :) ERIC
Thanks for clarifying this, Eric. I really appreciate that you have constant contact with us fans of Death and Chuck. It still pisses me off the fact that such a fundamental thing for people as health is something so expensive, I mean, many times it's a matter of life and death. There has been more than one reported case of someone dying because of denied healthcare. Such a fucked up world...
EVERY time I see this guy, I cannot help but be reminded of the phrase, "You don't know what you've got, until it is gone." I am also reminded that "Life" can be a bitter fucking pill....so hard to swallow.
god dammit, im glad he left such a great legacy behind, but it really sucks that hes gone. i know this sounds cliche, but he was so full of life in this video. its sad to know hes not around anymore.
Respond to this video...WOW! Much respect to you with regards to your comment on the recent video clip of Chuck! You are right and I had never thought of it that way before. Thank you for that perspective my friend........ With Sincere Regards, Beth Schuldiner

I just researched that a little and it is very rare for an adult to get that type of tumour. Chuck was unique in several ways, unfortunately of course, with cancer.
It's a lot hard to believe that the probably creator of death metal wore kitten shits... I love metal too, and I love animals, friendship and some other things that are not metal, stereotypes are so stupid. I admire Chuck, he loved metal and he knew how to live, we all miss him, and much probably he is doing well wherever he is... thanks for giving us your genius work, Chuck, may you rest well :D and sorry for my sucking english
I read that Chuck was denied surgery when the tumor returned in 2001... I fucking hate the fact that maybe if he hadn't have that surgery denied, he would have survived... Greedy medics, caring more about their paycheck than their patients.
Chuck proved us that true metal isn't about wearing shitty masks and attracting press attention by doing crazy shit. The only thing it is about is the music itself. He is just a normal guy who had a very tragic death but I know he is in metal heaven playing gigs where everyone has first row tickets. We love you too Chuck , RIP!
"I'm stoned" - Chuck Schuldiner of Death. October, 1991.
"any last words, before we leave this place of evil"
"im stoned"
LONG LIVE THE GLORY OF CHUCK!
LMAO shit is hilarious
"here is the famous nose that has been mistaken for mountains" - Chuck Schuldiner 1991
Thats why he wrote Crystal Mountain.
He possessed the most metal quality of them all: not caring about what was metal and being his own unique self. RIP Chuck

Laughed so hard.
Love and miss you, chuck. You were and are amazing.

Bite the pain is one of my favorite songs
Eric: "Hey Chuck! Where are we?"
Chuck: "Where in the land of evil!"
Me: "In the land of no return? Or beyond the unholy grave?"
Sorry, that i am so late but maybe youll get baptised in blood!
the unholy grave lies beyond the land of no return

If someone would ask me to make a wish, I'd make Chuck resuscitate just to hug him and shake his hand. What a wonderful person he was... RIP Chuck
"Groovy."
I'm almost certain Chuck and I would've gotten along, using outdated slang and the like. God, he seemed like such a great guy.
he seemed like the nicest guy ever
I was lucky to have a chat with Chuck playing in Denmark .He was a very, very nice and casual kind of person. I will love Death till the end.

Not to be over dramatic or anything, but I would die for Chuck.

Chuck... thanks for all you have done...You changed my life... You will live forever in my heart. I miss You.

@TheGonoreja That's me singing - I heard some stupid shit on the radio and so made up nonsense lyrics. Me & Chuck did that all the time. ERIC
