I also saw Cannibal Corpse supporting Tomb of the Mutilated with Cynic and Cannibal on the Butchered at Birth tour with Obituary supporting Cause of Death and Deicide on the same night. Freaking unreal. I went to so many death metal shows in the 90's. I've seen Cancer, Morbid Angel during Covenant with At the Gates, Gorguts, Malevolent Creation, Immolation. I saw Sepultura supporting Arise with Helmet & Ministry of all bands. So many bands. I was lucky to have cool friends cause we never missed any shows.
Death is the Black Sabbath of death metal. They weren't my introduction to death metal but they are my first love and are still in heavy rotation in my song list. The Hoglan albums were so great. It has never been done better. Melody married to chaos. RIP Chuck.

I hung out with Chris one night in Sydney during CC Tomb of The Mutilated tour (1995??? as far as i remember) He was very down to earth , those were the best CC days ...It was such a good show that we went again on the second night...
I met Chris with Six Feet Under "Undead" lineup in 2012, he found lots of time to chat with me about everything, autographed SFU album for me, we took a picture, smoked weed. He was really cool and down to earth guy. Don't know where all the hate towards him comes from.

Instead, Metal bands tour and play and record relentlessly, in vans, in the middle of winter, for months on end. Then write and record everything, recording videos of playthroughs, all sorts of work that other musicians in other genres do not do at all. It’s maddening but hey, all for the music. Just sucks that they can’t make a living off of it anymore.

Chuck was what every musician should be. About the music and fans. No bullshit, just a cool dude who loved melting people's faces off with his metal.

I am not a death metal fan in general but i really like Chuck's music.
in fact I'm glad that Metal in general doesn't appear on tv. The girl at the beginning says "all the big names of hard rock and heavy metal are here" I think chuck himself would laugh at that comment ... I still remember that horrible television show in Mexico's Televisa where they treat Death as an attraction of circus.
