    I'll stick to my leathers, yes its warm, yes in the beginning its not that much free movement, but because my technique was initially very off, i lowsided twice and highsided once, i survived it all (and one lowside was with about 45-50mph) so i will stick to and recommend leathers

      Never going to go wrong with leathers. I will sacrifice a small area, and use no guantlet gloves for some air flow up the arms

    Depends on the weather and travel disance for me. Warm day i have full mx gear, for short trip mx helmet, longer i have full face. For colder days I have some gore-tex and leather gear. Pretty much anything goes from -30°C to +30°C, rain or dry I don't care.

    Personally I wear full leathers, a motocross helmet and I prefer motocross boots but I do have regular sport boots as well for short rides (I don't ride on the track) because I still have problems shifting with my MX boots.
    For Wheelie practice I also use my sports boots because of back brake precision but I wanna switch to MX asap for the protection

      I have the same, I have a hard time shifting up with my MX boots sometimes

      I’d recommend looking at mx boots with a hinge design like the sidis

    What about using knee protection with leaser pants, its possible? O_o

      @rab.. 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't imagine so , even if you had leathers 1 size larger.

    • @socalsupermoto
      @socalsupermoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      too hard to fit braces or pads under leather pants, so braces with mx pants and impact shorts, or leathers with armor

    Broke the bone that protrudes on the outside of your ankle...
    Coming from 35 years of riding and track riding road machines like FZs, R6s and R1s. But I am no expert on supermoto. Also, I would expect that requirements for equipment between circuit, motocross and supermoto are not exactly the same.
    The bone is the fibula. The fracture occurred when at low speed in a very tight turn, I lost it during supermoto. My foot was wedged between the bike and the pavement. The protruding bone at the ankle dribbled with the bikes weight over the pavement. I felt the crack. I was in full gear but wearing sports bike boots. These did not offer the right protection for this type of situation. Apart from a plastic outer shell the impact point included almost no cushioning.
    But here is (partly) what went wrong. At times, my sports bike boots were offering too much grip on the pavement when extending my foot forward in the corners. The solution was to bend my leg more. It caught and got wedged when I lost the front while leaning in too much.
    Would motocross boots have offered greater protection in this case? Would they have offered less grip or otherwise more means to slide the sole over the pavement?
    I can imagine that boots used for supermoto would benefit from grip on the pegs, while also wear resistance and replaceable slide patches made from soft metal or nylon at the sole.
    Any advice? What boots might have offered more protection and better permit to slide the sole over pavement?

      Absolutely mx boots provide better protection, and ankle injuries are the most common. First off only drop your foot for a seond or two as you hit the apex. Riders always leave it out too early/late. After that you have two options 1) any mx boot, stay a bit more nuetral and don't drag your foot much or at all. this is what you see in s1gp these days. Option two is go with a mx boot with supermoto sliders. I used to use em but just use astars tech 7s now which seem to offer the perfect amount of grip without too much grip.

      @@socalsupermoto Many thanks for your response and info. Unfortunate to hear that my type of injury is common. Will be checking out the tech7s.

    Can i Fins a suit where i can fit my alpinestar fluid air pro knee braces? I used them for motocross but I wanna go and race supermoto

    • @socalsupermoto
      @socalsupermoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the only suit that had room for braces was the alpinestars sm suit. I'd add some really good impact shorts and use mx pants in your situation

      Supermoto bikes in the 65-150cc range. Most popular yz65, ttr125, and crf150r but you can use any small dirtbike, put on some scooter tires and go rip!!!
