  • What's going on guys, I have had a ton of questions about the Supermoto slide and I was never really sure how I wanted to do the video... But here it is! Let me know what you think down below! Should we do more videos explaining how I ride?

    thanks for this video, I do supermotard and I want to learn how to drift and these tips of yours, more about sensation than technique, have been very useful. It reassures me and scares me that it took a good driver like you 2/3 years to learn, but I will apply your advice and I hope to succeed. I hope you will make more videos like this, there are many technical videos out there but they are only theoretical, few drivers talk about their sensations while driving which are the ones that really help you improve.

    Have watched your shorts from time to time, have been in MX since I was a little boy, times have changed and moto sport got out of my life for like 5 years from now, but since I'm proud owner of 701 - it's time to get back in the game, thanks for your videos, much appreciate, inspiration is the only thing that make us better, ride safe and stay alive, thanks!

    It's such a joy to watch... I wish I had a place to practice, unfortunately I don't.. so this will remain a dream for me.
    PD: Looks like you fully recovered from your back-injury - Nice to have you back on the bike and showing us how a Supermoto should be ridden.

      You can practice on your everyday ride IF you can find a safe place to do it.
      Just depends how crazy you want to get, for me, on my way home from work, there’s only 2 corners that are smooth enough, have perfect visibility and no traffic, no pedestrians and most importantly no cops.
      It’s small but it’s still practice.

      Hi, I would like to ask when it is the perfect time to let go of the rear brake? Maybe when you get to apex of a corner? I am thinking to try it out on my next track day but scared of possibly high siding. Plus it seems really hard to find step by step instructions on how to back it in. My bike is cb900f hornet btw. Many thanks in advance.

    Thanks a lot for your videos and sharing your tips with us. I do recall that in one of your videos you were adjusting the air in your fork to have the front diving to lighten the rear. I would be curious to know what kind of pressure you were using, would you mind sharing it with us.

    When you reduce two speeds to make the slide, do you let go of the clutch until the slide is finished or are you always holding the clutch when executing the slide??

  • @Codeboball
    @Codeboball 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hey man, so glad to see you finally made a video on this! I’ve been practicing sliding on different surfaces, but ultimately want to get this down at the track.
    How soon do you get back to the gas and do you still hold the rear brake a little bit? Also, how do you transfer your weight? I’ve heard that riders stay at the back while doing this. Im always getting mixed up between flat track style and sumo knee out.
    Anyways man, love to see it and keep killing it on your current season 🤙🏽

    • @brandon_paasch
      @brandon_paasch  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for the comment! I think its actually easier on the asphalt because its a more consistent feel. With the 450 I go back to the throttle as soon as I have direction and I don't touch the rear once I go back to throttle.

  • @wheelmindedivan6182
    @wheelmindedivan6182 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hey Brandon! Love the content and I have a follow-up: do you stay on the rear brake the entire time up until you’re getting back on the gas? I’ve heard a lot of people say that the slide is “only” a result of the downshifting and front brakes shifting the weight, but here you’re mentioning what seems to be plenty of rear brake use. As a follow-up to that, I assume that the point of any rear brake usage is NOT to lock the rear, correct?
    Love your riding and appreciate the educational content!

    • @brandon_paasch
      @brandon_paasch  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you man! Well, I always drag it kinda... but never lock it up. Its not only to slide but also to turn!

    • @nathanbaeyens2856
      @nathanbaeyens2856 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Initiating the slide can be done with only front brake and engine braking, but as you trail off the front brake and lean in, the weight transitions back to the rear tire. Also, as speeds decrease and rpms drop, so does the effect of engine braking. For most people, this is where the slide will end. If you want to force it to continue, you need to feed in the rear brake to keep under-rotating the rear wheel and continue the slide.
