It is sad that 95% of that fishery was destroyed by the 2016-2019 drought. Water shut off for 9 months at a time. The cutt's and bow's are coming over the spillway. Hopefully the fishery will recover. It was a great brown trout fishery. It is clear that the brown's have not recovered by the type of fish you caught. Nice video.
Thanks for this comment! My dad told me it used to be a great Brown Trout fishery years ago. This explains why I haven’t been seeing them. Thanks and hopefully they make a comeback! Tight lines🎣
I’d rather not share this one for now. There’s a bunch of easy access fishing off of Mirror Lake Highway that can be really fun for trout fishing. Tight Lines🎣
I fished that river before the shut the water off too. I heard they did dam repairs and said screw you to the fish… not because of a drought. My buddy and I would fish cicadas and split the river catching and releasing as many as 85 a day walking past that broken concrete. Maybe 5 miles down and fishing back to the railroad bridge and then get another dozen each above that before running into some bait guys killing a few. Always barbless flies for me. But at least it looks to be getting decent. Cool video. It would’ve been way too easy with a lure back then. Also seen cut bows to 28+ in there. Used to be big carp but never caught a tiger in there before.
@brianlarue5072 That sounds amazing! Were you catching mostly browns back then? Cause my Dad used to fish it 15-20 years ago and that’s what he mainly got. Thanks for Watching🎣
Awesome river fishing brother, seeing that mink coming close to you was super cool. I’m from Texas and have never seen one before but really cool, thanks for sharing!
Thanks man! River/creek fishing is pretty hard to beat for me…I’m lucky to see em here and there but never that close. It was neat. Thanks for watching🎣

I been fishing with the rapala jerk excellent trout lure on the down rise of water in streams after 2 to 3 days after a heavy rain I tie a circle not it gives a more side to side action remove the o ring my favorite is blackback silver sides it's killer

I’ve never heard of someone using a snare in the USA. I’m guessing it’s illegal in the State of Utah where I live. It would depend on the state you live in or are visiting though.
Great video. I am traveling from Ohio to California to see my son in Navy in October and my wife and I are going to spend a few days in Utah exploring and fishing. Never been there before. Any suggestions on places to fish? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the good videos and tight lines.
Thanks! Sounds like a fun trip. In October I would recommend Strawberry Reservoir and Fish Lake. They can both be really good from shore that time of year. Do you know exactly where you’ll be or around in Utah? Thanks again and tight lines🎣
Nice! Those are both beautiful areas as I’m sure you know. I’ve heard there is some good creek trout fishing in Zion. But I haven’t been able to try….have fun on your trip👍🏼🎣
I’ve never tried that rapala pattern before. I usually just stick with either the rainbow countdowns or the sinking brown trouts (occasionally firetiger for murky rivers) I’ll have to try that one out! Sick video
You should. It’s done great for me in Lakes, Reservoirs, and Rivers here in Utah. The more natural colors are usually safe bets. But this one just flat out works for some reason. I’ve done great with the firetiger color for pike and king salmon! Thanks and tight lines🎣
That was a Rapala Xrap xr-8👍🏼 I have had quite a few Fenwick rods. They are pretty sensitive and all for the price but I have broken 3 different fenwick rods. Including the one I was using in the video. They fixed them all for me through their warrant. But I have had a bunch of other rods from different brands with similar or more use and not broken. St.Croix rods have been the best for me personally.
Awesome video and great fish! Looked like a really fun time! 2 questions: What is the advantage of using the micro swivel down to the fluorocarbon? And what size of Rapala were you using?
Thanks I’m glad you liked it! It was a blast. I use the micro swivel cause I’m more confident in my knot that way over a line to line knot. It also helps a lot to avoid line twist. That was the Rapala XR8 X Rap Floating.
Risky throwing expensive rapala without leaders knowing theres muksy in there. :o Hate losing my raps, I only use them with wire leaders. Beauty of a place to be.
Great video. I got bitten by a few of those mosquitos just by watching. Just curious, why don’t you just haul the fish up to where you were standing where you made the catch instead of going into the water? Is it better for the fish? Thank you.
Thanks! They got pretty bad for a few minutes haha. It’s good to keep trout in the water if you are planning on releasing them. They tend to be pretty fragile. So yes it’s better for the fish. I usually have a net as well which helps a lot. Thanks for watching. Tight Lines🎣
you should try fly fishing with a mouse pattern at this spot. you can also get the fly on a spinning rod but make sure you buy a fly not a spin fishing mouse

13:56 just shows me people do now know how to set up initial drag, who adjust the drag like that after hook set? The drag should be just below string breaking point. If the drag ever goes off you know it’s a big fish.
If it's tight the fish has leverage to unhook itself. If it's a little loose they can't shake it out because line comes out yet still enough tension on the hook.
