Big Brook Trout on Marabou Jigs! (New PB x2)
This is day three of a 30 some mile backpacking trip in the Wind River Range of Wyoming! This is the last video of the trip, and definitely the most action packed. I was able to catch a few very quality brook trout. Each of these fish would have broken my previous best. These were all caught at a very small lake we decided to rest out. And it paid off! Thanks for watching everybody🎣🎣🎣

Is it a mink rather than a ferret, since swimming in the river?
I believe it was a mink looking back at it….
That first one was a brown.
Thanks!
dude i thought my IEM broke but ur recording in mono audio not stereo jesus christ that would've been expensive
Thank goodness, that would have sucked. Yeah I need to start recording in stereo…
Any tips for fishing this season at unity island or specific baits , me and my friend go at least 2x a week
The Pin's minnow is my single favorite Lure. It's so versatile.
I’ve caught a lot of quality fish on them. They are great little lures. They were great in Florida as well! Tight lines🎣
what river are you on. only 2 places i've ever caught tiger musky is newton reservoir and Pineview reservoir! this is amazing!!! nice fishing man!
Good work on getting em in different areas! I’ve yet to get my second. Sadly I’m not sharing the location on this one. Thanks for the support and tight lines🎣

Nice fish 🔥
Thanks brotha!
Treble hooks for trout in a stream, really??
Yes, indeed. Tight lines🎣
I made marks on my rods with a sharpie or something comparable starting at 12" from the butt going up to 20. That way I never need to carry the extra weight of a tape but always have something to measure with! Nice fish!
I don’t know how I’ve never thought of this! Thanks for the comment. I’ll be doing that for sure. They were some beautiful brookies! Tight lines🎣🎣🎣
Beautiful colored up fish 👍👍
They were some special fish!
Thank you for sharing fun!
Thanks for watching. I’m glad ya liked it. Tight lines🎣🎣🎣
Great video thank you for the beautiful Brookies
They sure were!
I have the best spot to fish for large mouth bass! U catch at least 3 twelve inch bass every time!
Nice man! Those spots are always fun. You should try and fish it with a small frog or popper🎣
Finally he’s back 🎉
Yee yee! Another video coming on Saturday🎣🎣
Often, it's always the big fish that gets away.
Sad, but true🙃 Tight lines🎣🎣
Nice place. Is a fishing license required in the USA when you fish with a snare?
I’ve never heard of someone using a snare in the USA. I’m guessing it’s illegal in the State of Utah where I live. It would depend on the state you live in or are visiting though.
Nice
Thanks for watching!
Happy fo you! That's still one I haven't caught yet and I live it Salt Lake.
I’m lucky I got one! I’ve tried many times in the same and different bodies of water with no luck. Thanks and tight lines🎣
I just want to know what state you're in
I’m in Utah👍🏼🎣
What state are you in?
I’m out in Utah!
BEAUTIFUL FISHIN SPOT,,NEVER SEEN A TIGER BEFORE NICE LOOKING FISH

It was a great day of fishing. Thanks! Tight lines🎣🎣
I think i might be dumb but what river is this?
Not sharing the location on this one. Thanks for watching🎣🎣🎣

@blueaggie64 Well cool! I guess I’ve been there then😅 Tight lines🎣
Thanks for this vid I’m a Utah fisherman and I make videos also this made my day man 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽
No problem, thanks for watching and for the comment! Tight lines man🎣
Is there a benefit to having the reel mounted so low? Looks like a fly rod??
In my situation the fly rod is what I had. Other than that it probably doesn’t make sense. It’s definitely nice to have a longer handle/fighting butt for centerpin fishing.
YES
Nice. Next invest in a silicon net.
Thanks! I’ve got two since this video👍🏼Tight Lines🎣
Great water, skilled fisherman, but needs better angles and not mistreating fish.
Thanks! Sadly I forgot my net on this outing. Tight lines🎣
How far north bro, like norther than ogden? i just need a little hint 😭🙏
It’s not near Ogden at all…
@@OfficialCreekGeekHeber area?
No it is not
@@OfficialCreekGeek I need to know 😂😂
Very interesting catch. Sorry to rain on your parade but that muskie is dead as a doornail. Lactic acid buildup + insane amount of time out of water = dead fish. I'd recommend keeping it in the water and give it breaths throughout the process.
Well, I guess it’s dead since ya made the statement that it’s dead.😅 I held the fish in the water multiple times in the process from catch to release. I can try my best to do better next time👍🏼
@@OfficialCreekGeek Yes, please do better. Especially if you're going to post content. Do yourself and your viewers a favor and learn basic catch and release practices. 60sec followed by 30sec (presumably with a breath in between) is way too long - especially immediately following a fight. Laying fish on the dry bank isn't the best either. Even fish that swim off strongly (which this fish definitely did not) often die later because of lactic acid buildup and organ damage.
is this hb ridge?
I don’t know what hb ridge is…so no it is not.
That 19 1/2 inch fuish you caught is actually a cutbow.
I just watched back to that fish I got. What makes you think that was a cutbow? (Genuinely curious)
Bruh needs a new for sure 😂
I’m guessing you meant to say net. I’ve got two now so I’ve just got to remember to have it with me on the river!
Risky throwing expensive rapala without leaders knowing theres muksy in there. :o Hate losing my raps, I only use them with wire leaders. Beauty of a place to be.
It was indeed risky. If I’m specifically targeting pike or musky I’ll throw on a wire leader.
gosh darn, gosh darn, holy dang. I love living in utah.
Haha yeah…it’s family friendly though🤷♂️ Tight lines🎣
Great video thanks 👍😊
Thanks for watching!🎣
great video! why don't you use a net? :)
Thanks! I usually have one, I had forgotten my net in this particular video. Tight Lines🎣
Got it- it happens- keep up the good work!
Thanks!
Certified money man. Beautiful fish
Thanks Brother!🎣
The black maribou jig is my mountain lake go to lure
It got it done luckily!
Very cool. I've never seen this method.
It’s been pretty productive for me here in Utah and New York for river trout! Tight lines🎣
Great video. Thanks for using barbless treble hooks! Do you know if those were West-slope Cutts, Colorado Cutts, or some other sub-species?
They were either Bonneville Cutthroat or Colorado Cutts. I’m not entirely sure…
I was trying Rapalas on the mckenzie River here in Oregon. I guess I need to try jerking it instead of just retrieving. I'd have to keep two for dinner.
Love that chubby, creamy, smoothy one at the end. 👍🏼
Love seeing utah fishing, I fished the provo this weekend and caught a massive brown and a bunch a rainbows.
Nice job! I’ve only fished the Provo once or twice. I’ll have to try it out a little more. Tight lines🎣
gg
Thanks for watching! Tight Lines🎣🎣
Awesome fish! I've been meaning to pick up a pins minnow sometime! Would a light action trout rod work for fish these size? Or would I need something stronger?
The pins minnow is a killer little jerk bait! Definitely go get one. I wouldn’t use under a medium light rod for fish of the size in the video. They were all hovering around 20” with the bigger ones around 25”-26”. The rod I used was a 7’0” Medium light rod and never had any issues doing this type of fishing and for fish of this size. Tight lines and thanks for watching🎣
@@OfficialCreekGeek Ah gotcha. Do they typically migrate in around that time? My local regs in Ontario allow me to fish all year for trout up until a bit north of the river entrence, I'm just not sure when certain species will begin their spawning runs.
@Shrike456 They usually show up after the salmon. The brown trout and steelhead are usually in the rivers from October to April.
I been fishing with the rapala jerk excellent trout lure on the down rise of water in streams after 2 to 3 days after a heavy rain I tie a circle not it gives a more side to side action remove the o ring my favorite is blackback silver sides it's killer
It sure gets it done! I’ve been thinking about trying a circle knot like you mentioned. I’ll have to finally try it out here soon. I’ve noticed the same with jerkbaits in general working after the rivers come up. Tight lines🎣
Where’s this at need new trout place
I’d rather not share this specific river. Check out some of the lakes and reservoirs here in Utah a lot of them have rivers/creeks flowing out and most have trout👍🏼
@@OfficialCreekGeek thank you, I’ve been going to little dell reservoir but it doesn’t really have a creek by, I’m going to check out tibble fork tomorrow morning, do you have any socials I can follow
@@coleskiby2614 No problem! I have a buddy that’s been fishing Little Dell he says it’s a little slow but there are some quality fish. I haven’t fished Tibble Fork Resevoir but I have caught fish in the creek above and below it👍🏼 My instagram is tagged in the description on all of my videos. But if you can’t find it there it’s just thecreekgeek on insta. Tight lines🎣
Sure hope your barbs are pinched. I would suggest using single hooks for less harm to the fish.
