That is as close to paradise as a fisherman can get. Reminds me of Wyoming in the early 1980’s when I could catch loads of 13-19 inch browns and rainbows in streams even smaller than that one. So blessed to have had that opportunity.

I lived right at the foot hills of the Rockies, just south of Laramie, Wyoming. The Laramie River ran through the property and all I ever caught there were Browns. Never did catch a Rainbow in that section of the river, but I know they had to be there somewhere!

Rivers and streams do rise after heavy rains. That makes big fish move around. When the rivers receed, after no rain, big fish become trapped in the bigger pools of water. Waiting to be caught.

That looked like real grizzly country. Been to Wyoming and Yellowstone 5 times in the mid to latter 1980s and tried never to fish alone in the backcountry. And rule #1, make a lot of noise. But the fishing opportunities out there are just fantastic. Dries like pale morning dun, royal coachman and Dave’s hopper worked really well. Back then the crowds disappeared just before Labor Day. So I tried to plan my trips just after the holiday. Funny how cold it could get within a couple of weeks of the crowds leaving. A lot of fond memories. Totally magical place with very agreeable trout.

Been "lurking" for some time while following your fly-fishing adventure across the inter-mountain west. Yes, there are these little gems to be found and once you find them they are typically a closely guarded secret. As a fellow fly-fisher and resident of MT, I appreciate your effort to keep these gems from becoming overrun and destroyed from receiving too much fishing pressure. Also, your efforts to keep from over stressing the fish after catching them is noteworthy as are your efforts to release them back into the stream. You have gained another subscriber.

When I was living in Colorado, I went with a friend and his family to break down their summer camp, before the snows made it impossible to get to. He told me to bring my ultralight or fly rod with me and the smallest lures or flies I had. It was up in the Rockies in a remote area and we had to use 4-wheel drive to get there. It was heavily wooded, with a small meadow that had a tiny stream about 3 feet wide running through it. This stream didn't have any "monster" fish like this video, but it was filled with Brookies behind every rock! We got his camp broke down and packed and did some fishing. I went home with a mess of tasty Brookies that evening!

This reminds me of a creek running through a meadow near Bryce Canyon. It was only about 6 feet wide but ran pretty deep, grass tufting over both sides. I was snorkeling down it and rounding a bend came face to face with a monster trout, I mean massive. I stood up out of the water just in time to see the wake of this thing taking off downstream, making little waves washing the banks all the way down. I'll never forget that.

Wow brings back memories of when I was young trout fishing in Vermont for brookies and small mouth bass in White river . The brook trout weren’t as big as what your catching there but the small mouths were good size and lots of fun to catch on a fly rod .

No bears no cougars only some good size cutthroats, man you did really well. Seems you fished dry flies, good job. And you released them all 5+

You guys over the pond are so fortunate. Here in the UK we increasingly losing our rivers to intensive farming and greedy utlities companies.

Amazing stream and nice fishing! You have some beautiful places there! And there are so many fish in the water, it shows how much your country respects the nature. In Romania we rarely see so many trouts in one spot. Again, amazing! And thank your for sharing all this superb videos with us!

I guess it’s a great day any day to catch nice fish in a beautiful place with peace and solitude. Thanks again for the great video. If you happen to get to the TU conference in Asheville this spring I’d like to meet. Till I can get out west I’ll play in NC. Thanks again Marty

It's nice to know that there are still places. You can go to pull some nice trout out out of a nice Stream. Where somebody can Goh and be completely alone. Without everybody and their uncle surrounding you. That's what outdoors are supposed to be like. That's a blessing that's what outdoor life is supposed to be. But pretty soon everything gets torn apart. By encroaching businessman who decide, we must build near this area. This way, everybody can get it on it. That's that's what's wrong with this world. They can't leave the natural world alone.

you got a great spot there, it reminds me of a spot we found up in the high sierra of california back in the 1970's. it was a lake with a steam feeding in and one going out and plenty of fish, it was almost easy. we never ever saw anybody else up there, just two guys and the fish. we just kept what we were going to eat that day.
