      @tan j maz I read your other comments and just to let you know America is a country if immigrants. The only real Americans are the native indians.
      You understand America is a country of immigrants? Unless you are native American.
      America was founded because of the British and the Spanish who went over and colonised the land slaughtering native Americans, and who brought slaves over to build their mines and trains from Africa, China, south America and more.

    For all of those who escaped slavery by going down with a ship, I am relieved that they died before beginning the most humiliating tenure a person can undertake. And for all of those who made it ashore alive and endured that most heinous of institutions, my heart bleeds. RIP to all of you before touchdown and after. My own story is my parents are from Jamaica, I live in Uk and my mothers maiden name is Lynch, and recently it occurred to me that my ancestors were on the Willie lynch plantation in Jamaica - my heart breaks when I realised how close that connection is. It was easier to find the Titanic in 1986, that sank in 1912, but no one is bothered with the 1000 shipwrecks that went down to the bottom of the sea during the slave trade. The lies continue up to today, and it is our responsibility as black people to acknowledge the painful loss of our ancestors in order for healing to take place.There is still so much to do and hopefully one day, we will discover them and will be able to rewrite this tragic history of our time.Thank you so much for this documentary, I will certainly pass it to my children and great grandchildren so that they can know who they are as a people.

    • @erraticonteuse
      @erraticonteuse 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      If it makes you feel any better, the mission to find the wreckage of the Titanic was a cover story. They were actually looking for a nuclear submarine and its nuclear torpedoes that the US government had lost and didn't want the Russians to find out about. Actually finding the Titanic gave the cover story airtight credibility (at least until this was all declassified a few years ago).

      not saying that it isn't inportant, but why wouldn't it be easier. slave ships syopped coming to america in the 1850's. and they were made of organic materials, and they were much smaller. why wouldn't it be harder to find older, smaller, more degradable materials?

    • @Yourmomma568
      @Yourmomma568 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Catahoula Life i also don't think there is a valid comparison between the two. again, one is a much more recent, intact and well documented wreck, of one of the most famous ships in history. the others are an assorted collection of much older, and possibly unidentifiable ships that no one has ever heard of. it's a tragedy and a travesty, i'll give you that, but just look at the wreck in the video. no one, apart from underwater archaeologists, could even identify that as a ship wreck. and as for the money thing, there are literally hundreds of spanish treasure ships that were lost around the same time that no one has found. millions of dollars in gold and silver sitting at the bottom of the ocean, and no one has found them. it's not for a lack of concern it's just really, really, ridiculously, hard to find 200 year old wooden boats at the bottom of the ocean. the ones that are found are usually very famous or their location prior to sinking is well documented. for context, the most famous shipwreck in canadian history, where we have journals and oral reports of last known position, has never been found.

Before people boarded those ships they belonged to this ethnic group or this tribe. That's when this thing called 'black' was born. Where do we put our sorrow? Where do we reconcile our history and where do we reconnect with our heritage? All of us look for a touchstone..." 2:04
    "...take that sense of adventure and pair it with social responsibility. That's when sparks fly." 11:32

    This was so emotional to watch and I have just the overwhelming feeling of “I’m so sorry”. Here you have people who have ancestors that have gone through horrible and sickening things and then have been cut off of the human want to belong, to find out who you ARE, and where you come from.
    I can never even begin imagine all of the feelings and struggles.
    This video hits on something so important that’s going on around us today and that to me, the black lives matter movement goes this deep. That black lives MATTER and the all pain and struggle needs to be recognized from all the way back to when slaves first arrived until now.

Also, many slaves were sold outside the United States borders. You would actually need to take that case up with the EU. Brazil would probably be the main beneficiary, regardless.

Joel 3:1-8 , " For behold , in those days , and in that time , when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem , I will also gather all nations , and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat , and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel , whom they have scattered among the nations , and parted my land . And they have cast lots for my people ; and have given a boy for an harlot , and sold a girl for wine , that they might drink . Yea ,and what have ye to do with me , O Tyre ,and Zidon , and all the coasts of Palestine ? will ye render me a recompence ? and it ye recompense me , swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head ; Because ye have taken my silver and my gold , and have carried into your temples my goodly pleasant things : The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians , that ye might remove them far from their border . Behold , I will raise them out of the place whither ye have sold them , and will return your recompence upon your own head : And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah , and they shall sell them to the Sabeans , to a people far off : for the LORD hath spoken it " . Jeremiah 31:10 , " Hear the word of the LORD , O ye nations , and declare it in the isles afar off , and say , He that scattered Israel will gather him , and keep him , as a shepherd doth his flock " . We must put aside these pagan ideas , and return to serve the God of Israel , according to what was required at Horeb , or Mount Sinai (Deuteronomy 18:15-19 ) . Shalom !
