  • Yes, you read that right! Please enjoy this cute little song in Loglan. Massive thanks to Dr. Randall Holmes, CEO of the Loglan Institute, for all of the encouragement and technical assistance that made this project possible :)

    Loglan is a constructed language, often described as the first “logical language.” Originally developed in the 1950s by sociologist and science fiction author James Cooke Brown, Loglan was devised as a perfectly logical language free from ambiguity and cultural baggage, which would theoretically allow large-scale testing of the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis: a conjecture which proposes that the language a person speaks constrains, guides, or at least influences that person’s thoughts and behavior. Loglan’s popularity reached a zenith in the 1970s, and has since declined - largely eclipsed by Lojban, another logical language itself directly based on Loglan.
    Meanwhile, in the many quiet years since then, work has nonetheless actively continued on the Loglan project - largely through the efforts of the Loglan Institute and Dr. Holmes, who as a logician had previously assisted James Cooke Brown himself with refining Loglan long before taking charge of TLI. Many of the issues which once plagued the language (several of which contributed to dissent and schisms in the community which ultimately resulted in the creation of Lojban) have since been resolved, and the language in its current state has become significantly more practical and elegant than its original incarnation. Ironically, as a longtime Lojbanist myself, I can attest that despite the wrinkles which remain to be ironed out, I have found that modern Loglan even manages to excel in some areas in which its daughter Lojban struggles as a practical, everyday means of human communciation.

    I'd like to see a video comparing loglan and lojban. I wonder how similar they are.

      I do not use autotune for any of my songs. A bit of compression and EQ on the vocals, but that's about it :)

    (.i mi nintadni lo lojbau) what does "cluva" mean, I can't seem to find it in the online dictionary (la sutysisku mainly)

    • @NoiseAndBells
      @NoiseAndBells  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      means "x1 loves x2" in Loglan -- the Lojban equivalent is {prami}. To search Loglan words on sutysisku, you need to select the Loglan option. la-lojban.github.io/sutysisku/lojban/index.html#seskari=cnano&sisku=cluva&bangu=loglan&versio=masno
