In Lojban culture, to “xekce” (/'xɛk.ʃɛ/) is to derail an otherwise friendly conversation by starting a debate over someone else's grammar, style, or nonstandard usage. Shortened from “xekcedipasopa” (“XKCD-191”), the term was originally coined in reference to an early installment of the popular webcomic "XKCD", in which a character dismisses the idea of learning Lojban with the remark that actually speaking it would require them to interact with "the kind of people who learn Lojban." Indeed, the experience of being "xekce'd" has discouraged many prospective learners from attempting to speak the language at all.
Perhaps the most infamous example of xekce in Lojban history comes from the "Glasgow Conversation," a recorded discussion which took place between Nick Nicholas and Goran Topic at a sci-fi convention in Glasgow, Scotland in 1995, and was at one point considered the most fluent Lojban conversation ever recorded. The conversation lasts only a few minutes, and ends abruptly after Nicholas begins aggressively criticizing Topic's use of a nonstandard word. (The word in question, {bu'u}, was later officially added to the language.)

I think that part of the reason that correction on grammer is so common in the lojban community is that:
1: It's a language meant to be logical, so if you do it wrong, you're illogical and bad and you should stop that.
2: The language it's based on was left behind because the creators of Lojban disagreed on how the language should be constructed.

Ok so I've been listening to this a lot lately and I'm trying to learn Lojban and it is an absolute joy to see more and more of the song make sense. also thank you for informing me about the existence of the word "besto" because the full definition is very amusing

Sentences (main bridi) are seperated with {.i} . Exclamation, question, etc. marks are not used . Instead you can indicate the exclamation with "sai" which means very . The {ku} after {se sanga} is optional, since beginning a new main bridi (with {.i}) will close {lo} anyway (but you can still use it if you want to) . No commas either (actually you can use commas to indicate syllable breaks within a word but its basically never used by anyone), your comma should be replaced with a sentence seperator instead . Also emoticons like :D are not grammatical, you can instead use attitudinals like {.ui} (pronounced /ʔwi/), this attitudinal is defined as "happiness - unhapiness" (to use the "unhappiness" option, you negative it with {nai}, so {.ui nai} means unhappy, and {.ui} means happy, you can read more about attitudinals in CLL Chapter 13) .
Also a tip if you didnt know: Theres a flash card program called Anki which uses spaced repetition (its on desktop and android for free, though on iOS it costs like 20 $). You can use it to memorize the words, you dont have to make a deck, you can download one that someone else already made from the "Shared Decks" thing on it (obviously use this alongside lessons to understand the grammar too) .

I didn't know but that doesn't surprise me! I've encountered xekce in some form in just about every conlang community I've been a part of, but engelangs seem to attract a special breed of zealot.
