Saw this fort in August 2000, on my first trip outside the US after I was " officially " retired. Was speechless walking around this magnificent structure and the views of the Malecon & Old Havana were spellbinding. The single most awesome tour of my life. I think everyone should visit this place before they die !
Woolf : Yeah is right ! Am a history buff and walking around the Castillo de los Reyes del Morro and realizing that the wall, window sill I was touching was there in 1605 or so, long before Ben Franklin or George Washington were even a gleam in their Fathers' eyes,..great stuff. I also saw the Moro castle at Santiago de Cuba, built shortly after this one. Was impressed there also,..but Havana's fort is numero uno !
