On the other hand, the country faces significant economic challenges, with a significant portion of the population living in poverty.

The Cuban government has implemented various policies to mitigate the impact of economic challenges on its citizens. For example, the country operates a dual currency system. The CUC is primarily used in the tourist sector, while the CUP is used by locals for basic goods and services. However, this system has led to inequality in the distribution of wealth, with those working in the tourist sector receiving higher wages than those in other sectors.
What Is CUBA Like Today? Life in Cuba today is characterized by a sense of community and togetherness. Despite the economic challenges, Cubans are known for their resilience and resourcefulness. The country has a rich culture and is home to world-renowned artists, musicians, and writers.

They has a pink palace, great museums and some kind of old fashioned charm that we don't see often in Europe or the US. Be sure to watch the fading baroque buildings, painted in tropical yellows and reds. This city has centuries of history. It showcase an interesting colonial atmosphere, beautiful modern skyscrapers. My father in law is Cubano. We have been there in 2020 and I was shocked how destroyed this country is. Because we have family over there we have seen so much non-touristic places and have seen so much poverty.
I remember this vacation incredibly well and it regularly helps me to look past the little problems in my life. Because since then I know how hard life can be.
Even as “wealthy” Germans, on many days it was not possible for us to organize food or drink. Sometimes we searched supermarkets for water for days. We usually got a phone call when something was in stock somewhere and then we had to be quick.
Now I hear the stories from my father in law that things are getting worse… hard to imagine to be honest!
I hope that there will be some improvement for the Cubans soon, politically and economically!

I've been to Cuba 3 times. Love the Cuban people. The 3rd time there we rented a car and drove around the country. Not an easy thing to do. It's not covered by GPS, there's a lack of road signs and we were given a cartoon map. However the locals are very friendly and we would pickup hitchhikers (something we don't do in other countries). They would show us the way. They got a ride to their destination and we got directions. Win win for both parties.

This video brings back memories of my visit. What is crazy, it doesn't matter a time when people share their experience of Havana, nothing has not changed. Everything still looks the exact the same. Before I visited and after. I have nothing negative to say about Cuba and its people. It was an enjoying welcome to be there. Others may see the crumbling buildings as ugly but I see them as the lines on the face of a beautiful women who has lived an amazing history with so many stories, with only a few that will be told. Service poor for tourists in some diners, difficult to interact . seem to cater to locals mostly. Tourists stuck close .Rented a Volkswagen , so got around.
Cigars pretty good. as was the Beer . Many people lining up to buy old style merchandise and clothes. No would not live there. Communist life makes people

Before 1959, Cuba was moving towards prosperity rapidly, due to the enormous amount of capital it attracted from all over the world, which caused the Cuban peso to be one of the strongest currencies in America. If I had continued along that path, today I would be a kind of Taiwan, Singapore or Miami. Las Vegas would not even exist, because gambling tourism was increasing in Cuba. That is why Havana as a capital grew rapidly, making it one of the most glamorous and elegant capitals in America. The arrival of Fidel Castro to power, beyond the passionate speeches, slogans and images of pseudo-messiahs pseudo-savior of Cuba as if it were a medieval epic or Marvel adventure heroes, would demonstrate that he destroyed everything that was economically advanced in the country. , which was going through its best period since independence. The initial Castro revolution was able to triumph only thanks to the false promises of restoration in its fullness of the 1940 Constitution (which has been the most democratic and inclusive that Cuba has had), knowing the popular unrest due to the Batista coup d'état that is still 7 years later it persisted, and because Fidel Castro repeatedly lied about his communist ideas (lying and repressing would become his usual resources to stay in power, imposing the longest tyranny that the Americas have had since the independence of their people). The Cuban people did not support the tyrant Fidel Castro for economic reasons, since Cuba was economically very good in 1959, it was the period of greatest economic prosperity in Cuba (the best example is that the Cuban peso became worth more than the dollar). , but because of the people's unrest due to that Batista coup d'état.

They got bullied, so they looked to our enemy for support. Castro was right better to live poor and free. Than to be slaves to American interest. The slums you see here exist in every American city. Places with food deserts, poor water, over policing. America hates its own people of color, why would a cuban want that for his family. Stay free cuba, see you again soon.

Assim como quase todo jovem, eu tenho vontade de conhecer varios paises e um deles é Cuba. Não sabia que o pais estava nessa situação. E a primeira coisa que penso ao falar em cuba é "Boxe" ❤🇨🇺🥊😍

Cuba and its people are unique; Yes I mean to say one-of -a-kind! I have been to Cuba and have met and befriended many Cuban people in my life, mostly in the United States. In all my years travelling, and meeting so many nationalities, I must admit, Cubans to me are a people of enormous resilience, pride. strength and integrity. Certainly not a people that feel sorry for themselves. Thats for sure. Cuban people have experienced hardship for so long that even knowing life on this island nation is not easy, Cuban people have made the best with their given circumstances and have confronted many decades with simple understanding that this my home mentality. What we see (being non Cubans) as maybe hardship is simply normalcy for everday Cubans living their life in Cuba. Cuba, the island, of course, will undoubtably change over time like everywhere else, but the people will always remain unique in their strong sense of pride a and unlimited number of god given wonderfull traits. This world of ours can learn alot from this amazing island nation.
