Kreator is a thrash legend. They meandered a bit in the 90's trying different styles but their modern output is friggin' superb. The "Enemy of God" album is my all-time favorite though, filled to the brim with bangers and the only complaint I have really ever heard was that people though it was slightly long for a thrash album and maybe 1 song could have been left off. The closer, "The Ancient Plague" is one of my personal highlights. The down tempo section near the end with spoken lyrics and then the transition to a guitar solo is just... *chef's kiss* "And I saw millions of souls, preparing for the last incarnation. No more earthly pleasures, no more life's temptation. And the ghosts of long forgotten societies cast out wicked dreams from the heart of the lost. The future is drowning in the ashes of the past. And through the toxic stench of human tragedy, a saviour appears in a red mask in front of me..... And Satan is his name!"

Then there is lower tier German Thrash, like Exumer, Violent Force & Holy Moses.
A great, great German band that was way ahead of their time as far as extreme metal goes was Poison. Check out their 1986 demo, Into The Abyss, or the compilation, Further Into The Abyss. I got what I assume is a bootleg CD of a split between Poison's Into The Abyss & Morbid's December Moon on Ebay. It is awesome!

Kreator were so brutal when I was a kid, slayer were the evilest and heaviest only the hardcore kids listened to but kreator were for the 1% psycho hardcore fans in my eyes.
They still have it to this day

@@runarhe5913 THe most extreme from these are Protector, and, as that, closest to Poison in a way.Paradox are considered cult classics , the first is speed/thrash with nice melodies, the second is more pure thrash and it's awesome. Deathrow are great.Darkness and Necronomicon are generally good also. Mnotaur also had an awesome debut, as also Assassin, Archaic Torse and Pyracanda.. Some others to consider listening are Living Death, SDI , Vectom,, Angel Dust,Iron Angel, Carrion, Battlefield, Wardance these are bands that are more speed/thrash or sometimes heavy/speed than more pure thrash and some others like Erosion are decent thrash.Belgium sene also had a few very good bands such as Cyclone and Target and from newer ones Gae Bolga..Greece also had Flames, Septicemia, Piranha, Condemantion, Epidemic, Fourth Dimension, Medieval Death,Despise,Destructive Aggression Asfyx, Acid Death (death/trash), Danger Cross, Acetic Voice,Demise,Descend,Creamate,Death Courrier, Sadistic Noise (death/thrash), Exhumation (death/thrash) Selefice (death/thrash), Mortal pain (thrash/death)) and from newer bands Chainsaw, Menace, Released Anger, Suicidal Angels.Cheers

Ever since I first head Kreator back when Coma of Souls hit and People of the Lie hit Headbanger's Ball I have thought they were light years ahead of most in the thrash genre. When this record hit in the 2000s, they proved to me that many long running bands just couldn't keep up anymore...
Fantastic album Coma of souls is one of the all time greatest classic thrash albums.
The Germans are way more dedicated and consistent. Kreator, Sodom & Tankard have been going strong, putting out badass records every three or four years since the mid-80's. Megadeth has been doing it too, but just not quite as well as the Germans.
As a *Kreator* fan since _Terrible Certainty_ (1987) it has been quite a ride! _Renewal_ (1992) in particalular was quite a bold release 👏👏👏!

@@bschuler6216 Don't forget Destruction. Yes, like Kreator, their mid 90's/late 90's stuff barely counts at all, especially Destruction's. You gotta hear the remasters of their early albums to really appreciate their early releases (85-90), from Holy Roller Records....those guys resuscitate badly recorded albums/classics that now sound kind of dated as if they were complete magicians. You gotta hear the Eternal Devastation LP remastered by HHR...it's breath-taking.

Saw them headline Bloodstock here in the UK back in August and they absolutely smashed it, was an epic performance!
Mille has stated in multiple interviews that the title of this song (and album of the same name) was not religiously motivated, but politically. Keeping in mind, this was released in 2005 and mainly written in 2004. During that time, the global narrative was still massively influenced by 9/11 and the ensuing "War on Terror", the general divide between the Western world and the Middle East, growing anti-Muslim sentiments in the west and growing anti-West sentiments in the Muslim World.
To me this song always seems like a vision of a world, where these sentiments are fully followed through and reach a climax.
Kreator uses religious symbols in their lyrics in a very interesting way. I would love to see more reactions

Kreator were top of the 80's W. German thrash metal pack... Strangely, guitarist/vocalist Mille Petrozza is like the most mellow guy in person... past Kreator members have claimed he's not the biggest extreme metal fan, but he's good at the genre.
Kreator went thru a slump in the 90's, but returned w/ a vengeace in 2001... this was 2005. Mille Petrozza & drummer Jurgen 'Ventor' Reil r still the original members.
2nd guitarist is Sami Yli-Sirnio ... bassist here was Christian Giesler (he left recently - replaced by ex-Dragonforce bassist Frederick Leclercq)

I remember some of the songs the drummer did the vocals. Riot of violence for example, and command of the blade.
As soon as I saw the thumbnail my brain went "oh shit, they did it. They actually did it." This is the one song I never thought I'd see you react to, but a band I was hoping you'd check out. Choosing this song... man, I can't wait to watch. I know its straight blasphemy to you, so all the more respect for doing it. Ima watch now. I know not what to expect.

Enemy of God Revisited is currently the only Kreator album I own a physical copy of. The whole album is a banger but I feel the first half is the best portion of it. When Death Takes It's Dominion is probably my favorite from it. There's a lot of brutality and melody throughout

Im so glad you guys let the entire song play, and than analyzed. So many reactors get this wrong, and interupt the song to give their thoughts. This is a problem with certain bands, because they craft their songs to constantly biuld towards something. And when you stop and go, you miss the full effect. Nice job.

Well to keep it honest, Kreator hasn't been thrash since Hordes Of Chaos. Phantom Antichrist & Gods Of Violence have a big Gothenburg influence mixed with traditional & power metal, with a little thrash sprinkled in.

To say:" Notthing would happen, if something was done to the Vatikan" I find short-sighted. The Vatikan is not only a religious Symbol and place. It´s also a state with influence and political power. Pretty sure there would be retaliation beyond reason. It would be catastrophic for Europe. Religious tensions could divide completely not only between our nations also regionally. I don´t like the catholic church and the vatican, but I hope that never happens.

Now you guys gotta finish doing the German big 4 of thrash....Destruction, a song from their first stint (85-90) first would be preferable to start with, "Curse The Gods" or "Life Without Sense" are perfect and could bring on good discussions. Then after that something from the first 2 albums of their comeback (All Hell Breaks Loose in 2000 and The Antichrist in 2001) where they were full on inspired from that 9 year break, the "Neo-Destruction" with another singer/bassist and drummer do not count as their official discography and is really horrible crap so it doesn't count.
Then Tankard, something from the 80's/early 90's first too, their best stuff is from that era, the song Chemical Invasion, Traitor, The Morning After, Help Yourself or Alien would be good with them. Also, another Sodom song. You did an old school one, so... I recommend something from their 2006 self titled album, it's so damn killer I couldn't recommend one in particular, but Blood On My Lips is one of their best top 10 songs of all time.
I found you to be much better with your reviewing/reacting in the last 3 years (2020-2021-2022) than before that, had a love-hate thing with Vince and sometimes Sori was a bit too oblivious but you guys gained ground and the experience shows, without compromising your beliefs, you seem a lot more flexible and now don't totally miss the point of a song as often as back in '18-'19 (I'll never forgive that really off-target commentary and non-discussion of the music at all of your Angel of Death reaction by Slayer....it seems you took it down, which is fine with me, you wouldn't like to hear my first hardcore punk band either lol.
