One thing I forgot to mention in the video is terrain should sit in the background as much as possible and just provide an environment for the models, not fight for their focus! 😀😀👊🏼 Enjoy painting, everyone 💙
Brilliant video. I love that in under 3 mins you cover the tabs issue. No mess. No 15min video waffling on about the process. Great painting guide too.
Great video! Did a test piece today following along and despite getting absolutely carried away with the rust I'm pretty stoked with how it came out. Now to repeat the process eleventy-billion times on the rest of the set.
Found by coincidence and subscribing! I’m new to airbrushing and you blew my mind that you can thin normal acrylics with the Tamiya thinner! This thinner is nearly plastic glue! 😅 I muss give it a try!
Haha thank you so much!! Lots more to come. It’s the tamiya airbrush cleaner that’s like the ‘plastic cement’ but yes their thinner is fantastic for airbrushing. Carries the pigments and the metallic flecks really well! Enjoy. Tag me if you post pics 😀
Awesome tutorial! Just one question. How did you do the square blocks that fit on top? They are not featured in your video. Did you keep them dark like the top of the walls or more towards brighter?
Finally getting around to painting my boarding actions terrain and yours is by far my most favourite look. Dropped a few quid on some of that Dirty Down Rust as it seems to totally make the whole aesthetic. I'll tag you in some pics on insta if I don't totally balls it up! 😂👍
I’m in the middle of a heresy terrain project. Cleaning up can be a slog but you can just do it without thinking. Have you got an instagram account with more pictures?
Hey mate. No, the ends just slot in. Don’t glue them as you’ll need different layouts for all the different boarding action missions… plus some variety if you play Kill Team 😁
Nice video - think you’re supposed to warm up a bit the dirty down rust, rather than stir (I guess stirring works but it is probably harder than it needs to be)
There's a mixing ball in the Dirty Down Rust, but it still takes a bit of shaking-work to get all of the settled texture mixed in. It certainly needs to be well-mixed. Even then, I found it needs 2 coats.

Haha thanks. Yeah just needs some quick attention with a file. Thanks, the painting was fun!!!

Haha it’s soooo easy to get carried away with the rust isn’t it 🤣🤣🤣😁
Great vid, looking forward to getting some paint on my set.
Awesome, this might work really well for my Sevetar base.
Oh fantastic. Yes that should be perfect for Severar! Thanks for the comment 😀
Streaky and Grimey! I love how that terrain just spells 40K for me, awesome paintjob.
Thanks very much! Felt this was just enough detail without fighting for attention over your models when your playing on it! 👌🏼😀

@@ChrisFrosin ah yes! I confused the products! But as you can tell… newbie!
Sure thing. Will give you a follow on Insta
Excellent video, great techniques and execution, Chris.
Glad you liked it! Tahnk you
Did you end up varnishing the terrain? If so, is it better to apply the dirty down rust before or after varnishing? Thanks.
I didn’t, actually. It’s held up really well to be honest, too! I still have a set and a half to finish though 🤣🤣 ended up with four sets! 😳

Actually kept them rather dark. So the mid tone was their top highlight 😀
Thank you very much 👊🏼

Fantastic!!!! I really look forward to the tag! Thanks for watching 😀
Did you prime it back before starting with metallics? What did you use?
Yup, just Vallejo black primer I think. Don't think this one was Ultimate Primer.
sweet need to do this thank you!
Hope you enjoy!
Great vid.
Thank you very much!!!

Great job, thanks!
One question; did you glue the ends together or did you use magnets or something? For more building options:)

Thanks :-) I just tried a map yesterday. Want to follow your painting idea, can you give me a list from the metalics, rust effect and others
Does anyone know if the gallowdark terrain fits neatly onto the necromunda plastic foot square bases?
