    Came back to watch this AGAIN--I use it on all of these bases and will use them for my Necro gang (when I get to it) as well. Excellent work.

    1:57 having mixed several neutral grey's I have noticed that the ratio isn't 50/50. It's closer to 90% white 10% black or 80/20 depending on how strong the pigment of both paints is.
    Neutral grey's tend to be neutral in value, as in the midway between black and white. However, since the most common black pigment PBK7 is slightly brownish, the resulting mix is slightly warm as well. So neutral in value, but not quite neutral in tone.

    Great video. Making me rethink how I'm going about my Necromunda bases.

    34:00 I have been painting my base rims with Vallejo polyurethane black primer as well, but have had some problem with lumps in the paint even after filtering them out. I also tried a 3 parts black primer and 1 part ultra matt varnish, but the surface tension you mentioned can be a little off since the ultra matt is so thin. What are you using these days?

    This is excellent, thank you! Been uming and ahing about picking these up for my next Necromunda gang and I think I'm sold - looks great and achievable and can't wait to give it a go :)

    Dirty down rust as a replacement for the brown and the. Streaked with a wet clean brush would look epic too

      Yeah. Im not a big fan of dirty down rust. Its ok. I used it on my gallowdark terrain video tho! 😁

    Going to use this scheme! Would dawnstone work as the mid grey?

    Love this, will be using this for my ITD stuff that is coming soon
    My minis are generally more clean then grimdark, worried they might look out of place on this

    Brilliant video. The tips on using the pigment are spot on. Really elevates the paint job and freedom to be messy for a better effect. Really enjoyed the real time video.

      Thanks so much mate! Really glad you enjoyed it. Can’t wait to see all these done and on the bases of the Inquisitorial retinue!

    Great video, but how do you go about varnishing these? I know pigment powder can be a bit fickle with varnish. Does the watering seal it enough that I can varnish after without diminishing this effect?

    • @ChrisFrosin
      @ChrisFrosin  ปีที่แล้ว

      Because you’ve used water to turn the pigment in to a wash, it won’t go anywhere so won’t need varnishing at all 😀 have fun!!!

    What primer do you use? If you’ve not tried it try AKintense black AK11029 it’s mental for one coat blacking things out

    • @ChrisFrosin
      @ChrisFrosin  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m using Badger Ultimate Primer. It’s sold as Stylnarez

    EVE Online music! I'm relatively new and have usually plastic cemented models onto the base and then prime. I guess that if you paint the base first you'd have to use super glue to get the miniature on the base right? Do you pin the models?

    • @ChrisFrosin
      @ChrisFrosin  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thaaaanks very much! Once a base is painted like this the plastic glue I use will just eat through the paint and glue it anyway so it's fine. :) I VERY rarely pin models, either.
