    Comment from an ex GW staffer and long time painter dont be afraid of table top ready - you should rush to get your stuff tabletop ready and play! You can always go back and add more paint there is no rush, no time limit so relax play first and master the paint job second. Indeed many of us only really work on the painting when we have moved on to another game and the minis and terrain from the previous become ornaments :D

      This exactly what I needed to hear. Currently facing a load of half painted Salamanders and it was beginning to get on top of me. This advice really helps. Many thanks.

    Thanks for these simple tips. I was able to get my terrain table ready to play with friends tonight and they were all impressed how great they looked with so effort put to get them done.

    Wow I am so happy I stumbled across this, I never even thought of using painters tape while painting terrain. I probably saved myself ruining my set. Very thankful for something as basic as that.

    This looks even better then GWs paint scheme. Simple, clean, and really sells the narrative.

    I'm going to prime black, then use rough iron, then oily steel as my base colors. Get it playable, then start adding in detail, wires, pipes, displays a little at a time, during the cold winter, while playing with it.

      That’s a good idea to add more details later on. I may well paint up those screens and some other details too.

    I’m going back to the Heart of Ghur terrain. Finally figured out how I want to do it, and bought the paint. Thinking about the Gallodark. Probably going to prime it Grey Seer so the contrast will work better.

      I want to do the Gallowdark terrain a little brighter and less ancient and abandoned looking so it will work better with other sci-fi games.

    I wish we could get some into the dark style play with an anphelion project/ Hadley's hope style layout. Tyrannid and Karskin doing corridor fights in some frontier habs. PLEASE JAMES WORKSHOP. HEAR MY PRAYERS.

    Looks great, it'll be interesting to see how space hulk range develops when the rest of the terrain comes out, if it'll be bigger themed rooms like engine room, hangers and the bridge on different levels. Or splitting into different floors maybe fighting over a section of the hulk gaining control over an elevator shaft for example, then re arranging the layout to the next area 🤔

      Thanks! Can’t wait too, this year ahead is going to be so fun for skirmish games like Kill Team and Warcry.

      I'm so torn about what to do! I really do like the terrain and board, and the book would be invaluable. But i don't care for any of the models: I'm more than happy with the Krieg and Kommandos from Octarius. But would it still be worth £130?
      I'm also keen to see the terrain going forward. I actually think it may look very different, stylistically, but i really hope they will add some verticality or layering (raised levels or decks) to the terrain.

    • @robertlowe4784

      I'm sure the units will sell well if sold separately, I bought 2 of the only terrain boxes of chalnath (City style) mainly just for 40k for £57 each. I'd expect the same for the space hulk terrain but doubt it'll be as cheap when released. The necromunder walls and collums box out now contains 6 collums, 1 wide wall, 4 walls, 2 wide doors and 2 normal doors and costs basically £50 the spacehulk box contains more than double, so for how much it'll cost separately with just the board and scenery it'll probably be worth buying the full killteam box getting the book too and just selling the troops

      @gavinjames1145 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robertlowe4784 Yes. I'm thinking the same. I'm concerned that if and when the terrain is released separately that there may be less of it; rather like Octarius terrain was later reduced for the 'starter' set.

      This is my favourite box set yet. The terrain is so good and I love the setting. I thought I'd like the Roots best but since building the Navy Breachers I like those the most now. You could get the box, sell the minis and keep the rest. That would be good value I think.

      I would try any red colour watered down like the brown. Maybe Khorne Red as it's a bit richer.

    • @tabletopskirmishgames
      @tabletopskirmishgames  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I liked the idea of having the top edge highlighted a bit so it stood out more. No reason to do it just personal preference.

  • @MrDulkes

    I was hoping you’d explain how you painted/not painted the slots in the columns. It looks like you have black primer in them. I’m assuming you did not varnish (because of how tight the walls are already, even after sanding).
    How does this hold up when you put a wall in there? Do you end up having to fix scratches all the time?

    • @tabletopskirmishgames
      @tabletopskirmishgames  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could put blue tac in the holes before you prime them. I used an airbrush to prime the pieces so I had more control of the paint around the slots. It has held up great and has had a lot of use with no problems and no scratches.
