One thing I would recommend (unless I’ve missed it somewhere) is a list of all paints used either in the video, comments, or description. It makes things so much easier to compile
Here's what he uses in the video, but you can really use and brand of color you think will look good: 1. Black primer (Chaos Black-Citadel?) Followed by a 3-tone gray drybrush - Skavenblight Dinge, Dawnstone, Grey Seer (Citadel Color). 2. Contrast paints for colors. Blood Angels Red, Black Templar, Apothecary White, Skeleton Horde, Warp Lightning (Citadel Contrast) 3. Weathering effects Drybrush Leadbelcher (Citadel) Weathering powder (unknown brand) 4. Walkways Drybrush Leadbelcher
Haha, currently recording my own video on painting this terrain and I predict this will be the buidling that everyone uses as all the ohers are too big or too small to use in a video. Lovely paint job, quick and painless. Perfection!
That's some amazing result, very useful tutorial! I somehow burn out building and magnetizing all the Volkus terrain, now seeing this I am motivated once more.
Thanks so much for this handy tutorial! I can’t wait to paint up my terrain from this box to match. I joined your patron too! Keep up the great content 🙂
Looks amazing. Thinking of a similar approach but will probably sponge the first layer of grey before moving onto drybrushing. Will definitely give some pigment powder a try.
Dry pigments are a godsend for doing probably the easiest blends known to man. Then, if you varnish over it, and go again, you can get even smoother blends. Your terrain looks really simple, but it really pops - great job! Only thing I'd have changed is not using a red pigment - it looks great, but is a pretty rare dust effect - I'd have gone a mix of browns and blacks, as that also makes it easier to "fit in" with a larger variety of terrain boards and mats :)
Love it. I'm aiming to crank out this whole box by this weekend, as a personal goal. Both the scenery and the vespids seem pretty easy to finish up, but the aquilons... Yeesh lol
I love to paint terrain, find it much more relaxed than painting miniatures. But I also want to get it on the table as soon as possible so I paint it very simply first so it looks perfectly fine on the table, I dry brushing with Ryza Rust and Leadbelcher for my Necromunda terrain, but then I paint all the details when i have time. So some parts are more painted than others, but for me it doesn't matter too much
I may have to try this scheme out. I painted some of this terrain from the 9th edition set and ended up spending hours on each one going around all of the pipes and cables. No way I'm doing that again!
Great Video. Thank you for sharing the painting of the scenery. Does it stack up well and same levels on those platforms with other KT kits like the Chalnath Sector Imperialis terrain?
Great video showing how quick scenery can be 🙂 If you were looking for a cream colour for the walls would you go with black undercoat still? Or maybe a brown to start dry brushing from?
Absolutely. Just practise with the drybrushing. remember to start with very little on the brush. Always easier to add more then try and take away existing paint.
Nice tutorial as usual. The thing is that i always finished with à dusty look when i dry brush. It s hard to find the correct ammount of moisture and pint to put on the brush 😅
Great tutorial, but my recommendation to anyone looking to paint their terrain is do NOT use miniature paints. This is where craft paints are a perfect solution, they're a fraction of the price for a much larger bottle and their drawbacks when it comes to painting minis are a non-issue when it comes to terrain.
I know what you’re saying but I’m not going to tell people to get a whole new set of paints for one project like this and have a load of wasted paint left over. People can use what they already have or will use again for Warhammer models and with dry brushing /the minimal details in this tutorial, you don’t use a lot of paint anyway.

I would also really like to know the color and brand of the pigment paint.

I like this tutorial. I watch so many vids of painting tarrain, this one is the one which I will take referernce for my terrain of this box.
Awesome to hear that, glad you liked it! I have other terrain videos too in different schemes as well!
Painted my first bit of Hivestorm tonight using your scheme! Really easy to do. Thanks!!
Great hearing that! Thanks for letting me know and good luck with the rest of it now!
I knew I could count on you! Was going to start painting but decided to wait for your video!
@@jamesbide-thomas6745 hahaha cheers pal.

haha yeah it's the best piece to use for videos for sure :D Hope your video does well!

Love to hear that! Fair play for magnetising all that 😅
This video is awesome! It's the perfect style--simple easy to follow steps with an incredibly striking result. Awesome tutorial. Thank you.
Love to hear that, thanks so much!😊

Aw thanks so much man, really appreciate that!
I’m using this very helpful, Thank you so much!
Great to hear!

Very useful thx from France 😁👍
This is inspiring me to paint my Kill Team 2016 terrain.
Oh yeah this would be perfect for that! Go for it!

i have a tutorial for them too! might help break them down a bit for you!
Amazing video as usual 😬
Thank you
You're very welcome, always appreciate the comments!
Nice steps, really easy to follow
Glad you liked it
Great video, thank you!
Glad you liked it!
i love this tutorial because i don't like use lot of time on terrains 😋
Yeah you really don’t need to!
Enjoyed this. That grey base on the black prime I think will be the basis for my terrain set. Curious on the pigment powders now too!
Just attempted my first terrain using these techniques. It looks awesome, and I’m a terrible painter!
You're not terrible, you're learning! Awesome to hear I could help :)
Great video Andy, keep up the good work.
Thanks 👍

Would love a weathering power tutorial/your set up for it :D
This I like the look of. Have some old 40k city ruins to have a go at so might give it a go
Sounds great, get it done!

Ah man, no you gotta save that time and energy for gaming 😄
Awesome. I'm going to borrow this to repaint my ruined cloister fane etc (which is part of the box anyway?)

@@MediocreHobbies thanks for that, exactly what I was looking for and really useful tips in there 🙂👍
Do you think this is doable by a complete beginner? I have a Hivestorm box and I was looking for something easy to do with the terrain.
Absolutely. Just practise with the drybrushing. remember to start with very little on the brush. Always easier to add more then try and take away existing paint.
can i go with necron compound as 3rd drybrush instead of grey seer or wont it be that good as highlight?!
Test it on a inner section yourself and see how you like the result!

What is the powder you put all over the ruin?
Humbrol weathering powder in dark earth
I see a red door then I want to paint it black… thx for the sharing
Haha thanks man
7:20 You will be judged, and you will be judged to be awesome!
Hahaha thanks man
Comment for the comment god!
Appreciate that!
Love the title death to airbrush 😬
😄
I heard "terrain" and got here as fast I could
Hahaha
Terrain shouldn't be super bright and gaudy? My man hasn't played infinity or cyberpunk lol.
Doors especially should stand out because they can be moved through.
Good point!
