When I think of 1965, my mind just goes to the Sonics. When I compare their first album to The Rolling Stones - I got to pick the Sonics. They were more developed and wild. Cheers. Shawn
Such a great album. Of all the records that came out of that scene, it’s the first few Mudhoney albums that I go back to. Everything I ever liked about rock music when I was a teenager are there on those albums. Thank you watching. Cheers.
Hi Miss Ewe! Thank you for watching. This was a fun tag to do. I love garage rock. The MC5 and Stooges were the rock bands that were my heroes as a teenager. We’ll see ya in the streams. 😊. Cheers. Shawn
That’s a great quote. Zimmy sure knew his way around a great quote. I pulled Highway 61 out the other day and it still sounds great. You’ll love the Mudhoney. It’s just great, heartfelt music. Cheers. Shawn.
Hey thanks for responding! Acid gallery is for sure my favorite pebbles, five years ahead of my time alone! Gotta find that bomp comp. Never herd of torpedos, will check them out
Great questions. I really enjoyed doing your tag. Nice work. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed by the Bomp compilation. Lots of great music from that sweet spot of 79/80. Punk, garage, new wave, power pop all coming together. Very excited time. Check out that Torpedoes song, Pop Star. If you like Iggy, I can’t imagine that you wouldn’t like it. Never got much attention outside Detroit. Thanks for the great tag/questions. Cheers! Shawn
love those Torpedos and Pirates records, I remember that Pirates being really good but its been a long time, will have to get it out this weekend, awesome list, cheers!
The Torpedoes are hometown for me. The band originated from the downriver area near Detroit. Killer stuff. The Pirates are relatively new to me. But I love this live album. Everything good about live rock music is here.
Hey Shawn! Cosmic Brian here Glad to make your acquaintance I subbed to your channel and look forward to diving into your vids Cool Tag entry! Glad you showed the Flaming Groovies! Hadn’t seen anyone share them in this tag yet I’m always on the lookout for that Bomp comp. The Pebbles comps are so good! I love collecting garage comps! That Torpedos 7 in looks cool! Did the Pirates used to be Johnny Kidd and the Pirates? I love Johnny Kidd! Man I’m not sure why I haven’t dove headfirst into the BJM catalog yet because I really dig them I’ve mostly streamed their stuff but need to lay hands on some vinyl. Great tag entry! ✌️👽
@@cosmicvinyl2937 hey Brian. Thanks for watching. The FG just don’t get the credit they deserve. But what a wonderful band. They made 3/4 albums that I consider 5 star records. That Bomp comp was a revelation when I found it. Because it had Stooges songs that I had never heard before. Really opened the doors to all those later period Stooges track and Kill City. (James Williamson and Iggy). Thank you for seeking my video out. I’ll sub ya back. Cheers! Shawn
Lots of interesting stuff there! Easy Action is a GREAT label - their catalog is filled with Garage-y superstars, like the Dolls, T.Rex, Scott Morgan, Johnny Thunders, etc.
Easy Action is great. The Iggy and the Stooge box is a fun listen. Sound quality is a little raw but that's just the source material. Thanks you for watching! Cheers. Shawn
First heard of this comp on Deadwax’s streams. Does a good job gathering together the three early singles and some of live tracks that the band only performed live.
Shawn, good to see you jumping on this. The few questions is a definitely a draw for me. Not familiar with the Torpedos. Nice to see the Pirates show up. Thanks, Chris
@@christopherkibler511 Give that Torpedoes track a listen on TH-cam. It’s called Pop Star. Received some radio play in Detroit but mostly unknown. If you like Iggy then I’m sure you will like it. Thanks for watching. Cheers. Shawn
This was a cool tag, nice picks. That Torpedos looked interesting. I got a lot of garage rock so I need think about it. I use to have a lot of those Pebble albums but I have not bought much back in, one of these days Shawn. Happy New Year
The Torpedoes are a great Detroit band that had a moment when they were looking to be the next big band out of the city. There were a few bands just waiting to become the next Stooges or MC5. It just never happened for them. You can still pick up the single for Pop Star at a decent price. Happy New Year, Steve.
Good one Shawn! I don't have that much in terms of garage, I do have some Nomads stuff, I was big into them for a time in the 80's. THE garage band from over here in Sweden, imo. Cheers!
I absolutely know the Nomads. Really great stuff. There is the awesome Swedish garage band, Hellacopters. They do a great cover of City Slang. Very influenced by the Detroit/Australian garage scene; bands like Radio Birdman. Thanks for sharing. Shawn
Hey Piper. If you like the MC5, I’m sure you will dig those three Dictator albums. The Torpedoes were a short lived Detroit garage band from 79/80. I heard them on the local radio as a kid. But Pop Star is a great Stooges influenced track. Thanks for watching. Cheers.
I’m sorry about that background music. lol. Had no idea that the stereo would get picked up so d@mn loud. Hey, enjoyed our conversation on Dusty’s stream. He I’m there are many areas where we agree. @@corporalcornealiaspheffer8296 Hey…thanks for watching. Sorry about that background. I didn’t check it before I posted. lol. I’ll change it later. The Bomp comp is really good. And there are some difficult to find tracks. The early copies are on white vinyl.
@@corporalcornealiaspheffer8296 No kidding? I would really enjoy getting together, Fred. Perhaps a couple of us could get together? How can i get you my phone number? The Sonics are a must. I had to fight the urge to show them. They're so undeniable!

I dig the Mud Honey pull.

Hello again, shall try or buy Mudhoney and remember Bob Dylans words "What is garagerock?"
We all played in garages"...... Fun
