Hey...I appreciate that very much. Hopefully, I'll be able to find more time for videos in 2025. My taste tend to run from avant-garde classical & jazz to electronic to post-punk and garage. So who know what the next find will be. Thank you for watching. Shawn
I’d bet you would enjoy that So Sner album. Very groovy vibe and fun. Wish you well. And I’m looking forward to 2025. Lots of good things are coming. Cheers, my friend. Shawn
Somehow I thought for a second the Comet album was one of the Tame Impala albums, something on the cover maybe. There just came interesting Morricone doc. from the telly here. Bests to the 2025!
No Tame Impala here. Lol. I actually never really took the time for this group. Although, I have heard bits and pieces of the output. But I can definitely understand the similarities in the sleeve design. Comet is directly connected to the London/NY jazz scene that was happening in 2016-2020. Some interesting records came out of that era. The Morricone doc sounds interesting. Just a brilliant man who was way ahead of his peers. Hope you had a great New Year. Cheers. Shawn
Hey Shawn, lovely roundup of the year. Isn't SO SNER just awesome, I don't have it yet, but it's absolutely in the cart on the way to checkout! And that Theo Parish is a monster, thanks for introducing me to that, a stunning LP, need to check prices on that one. Two nice releases from the year I think you'd really dig are Beatrice Dillon's 'Seven Reorganizations', it sounds electroacoustic but it's all made by an orchestra - conducted by Mark Fell of all people! Really beautiful ambient droning pieces. And Nídia & Valentina Magaletti's 'Estradas' touch of driving techno in the syncopated drum patterns & pulsating marimba lines but very organic still, quite special! Wishing you all the best for 2025! ✌️
Happy new year! Those are some interesting suggestions that I’ll need to look into. The So Sner is really fine. I’m liking it even more than I imagined. I haven’t been grabbing as many new releases in 2024. I’ve missed out on more than a few gem. I suppose we are always leaving something behind when our resources are limited. lol. I may try to do another video before the new year. Well..maybe. Be well. Shawn
I am definitely checking out that Arthur Blythe album. I have been seeing a lot of favorite albums of 2024 videos. I must have dozed off on the new music scene. I did not know that so many interesting albums were released. Thanks for sharing these Shawn. Will make a note of some of them. Happy New Year to you~ Rob/Boston
That Blythe was a great pick-up. An album i played over aver; innovative, exciting....what more can we say? Check out the So Sner - the well. A great new release that is taking Jazz music into 2025. Both of their albums are worth looking into. Thank you for watching. Cheers! Shawn
We have enjoyed your selections during 2024 and look forward to your choices for next year. All the best from the Croydon Crew. PS. There are some articles online drawing similarities between Detroit and Croydon. A cool thought indeed. Peace ✌️
Thank you so much. I appreciate that more than you know. Looks like you’re known for car manufacturing in Croydon. Very cool! Despite the decline in recent years the auto industry still plays an important role in Detroit. Happy New Year! Cheers. Shawn
Here is a little new year factoid. South Croydon used to have a motor vehicle factory called Trojan. Duke Reid used to use a Trojan truck to transport his sound system. This is why he named his label Trojan records. 🇪🇹🔈🎶
@@AxisCrow That’s really interesting. Love to get my hands on the content of that truck in the mid-late 70. Imagine the treasures to be found. Thanks for sharing.
Great stuff Shawn, I went through a phase a few years ago where I got anything Shabaka Hutchings I could get my hands on lol. I probably need to go through it soon and weed out some. Was lucky enough to see Sons of Kemet on their last tour 2 years ago or so.
@@soundofminder I bet the Son of Kemet was a great show. That whole jazz revival turned out some good music. It’s also played it a little too safe. But that is likely not the way most people felt.
I appreciate that, my friend. This is the one time of year many of us actually have the time to listen to music. Let's move to a four day work week! Lol Hope you have a great new year. All the best. Shawn
That's great. I'd be curious which albums. For me, that's the best part of sharing music. Watch videos and streams is an important part of discovering new music for me. Although, I still enjoy reading about new music as my main source. Thanks for watching. Have a fun new year! Cheers. Shawn
The sampler "If You Can't Please Yourself You Can't, Please Your Soul" has been in my collection since its release. I haven't heard it in ages, though. Thanks to you, it will soon be back on the turntable. I wish you a healthy new year. We'll definitely "hear" each other soon on Stuntys Steam.
Such a great sampler - I actually had the CD at one point. Which is a pretty rare item from what I understand. I think I discovered this album around 88/89. And it really opened up a new world of music and sound for me. Thanks for watching. Have a great new year! Shawn
Great to join in here too Shawn. Great reviews and shared music taste. Compliments🙏

Some awesome recommendations Shawn. I’ll definitely check some of those out. Thank you and happy new year friend. 🫶🏻🥂

Hey Shawn, you did well in 2024. I picked up a few things this year I discovered from you. Happy New Year!
