I can remember exactly where I was when the sad, sad news broke that John had passed away. I recall the numbness, shock, sadness and overwhelming feeling I'd lost someone close, even though I was never lucky enough to have met John in person. Peelie was, is, and always will be, my all-time hero. You got me through very difficult times and educated countless listeners with many genres of brilliant music. Rest in peace, my friend.

I will always remember listening to John late into the night while I was writing essays at university...his mellow voice was the perfect company.
John peel was inspirational , a legend.
I listened to John Peel's Music on BFBS since October 1981. It was very fascinating to hear such different sorts of music. I liked his kind of humour.
