  • First attempt at a mix. Bass and ride still too soft. A work in progress.

Excellent! Only got to see them once. I was exhausted at the end from the bass hitting my chest.

For god sake man open that hi hat, let that Paragon sing. 😜

It’s more the mixing than opening the hat. They are fairly loose. As stated in the description this was the first attempt at mic’ing and mixing (result was “ok” at best).

To play whats kind of(near your own heart ) takes balls and so much more to do, this deserves so much more than, your bullshit. Put up the video of yourself, du you have balls? This video makes me smile bigtime. 1-0 to him, 0-1 to you 😄

Where do we start with this? Is it the angle you are sitting? Is it the spacing? Is it the facade that you have everything exact? There are so many things wrong with this I don't know where to begin.

You may want you re-watch that laughable performance of "awake" on your page before you begin to critique anything.

@@DigitalMan_2112 here's the thing. I'm a dude with a decent kit, goofing around to a song I like. You are marketing yourself with an exact R30 kit. And while you may have purchased the shells, and the cymbal pack, that's really where it ends. I'm not claiming to have exact or to play exact. You are.

@@cbusdrummer2011 I'm not "marketing" anything. I'm a fan who hasn't played a drum in over 22 years until last March. I built a replica kit of my favorite drummer and am sharing that kit with other fans. I built it with some assistance of Neil's drum tech (who has sold me some of Neil's actual drums) as well as with the help of people at DW who built Neil's actual kit. So I can tell you according to the people that built it, tuned it and set it up, that the specs of the kit are almost exact to what he played and the most accurate replica as of today. Not "some shells and a cymbal pack". And as a fan that is all I was attempting to accomplish. I am a hobby drummer (clearly if I haven't played for 20+ years). I am not claiming to be an expert drummer or in a position to pass judgment on others as you have self righteously done (you really should be a lot better than what I saw on your page if you're going to critique others). Where do you get that my playing claims to exact? Even though I am reading from drum transcriptions approved by Neil ATTEMPTING to play as closely to the exact notes on drums as I can, admittedly with mistakes throughout. It is MUCH harder to try and play a transcription than just "playing" to the song. Am I successful? not entirely and never claimed to be. So what's your problem and need to critique?

@@DigitalMan_2112 first things first, I'm not knocking your playing at all. One thing we can agree on is that one of the things that made Neil so great was his ability to make massively complicated parts flow effortlessly. And as a fan you and I both know that if Gump set up Neil's kit like that he would have been fired. So you can pick up the name you just dropped. Also, you and I both know there were 30 of the R30 shell packs made, and the cymbals case for the Paragon pack can be seen against the wall in your walk through video. But all that to say this, my issue isn't with any of the drum shells, or the cymbals. My mind is baffled by the fact that you spent all that time and money (again agreeing it's well spent) and the little things are off. The devil is in the details. The heads are wrong. Not only the type of heads but be set up of those heads. The microphones. If you are going to do it, and clearly have the means to do it right, why would you skimp on the details? That's the key to the whole thing. In my humble opinion.

@@cbusdrummer2011 The KIT is an exact replica, NOT the setup. If you look at comments in other videos I address the set up. Neil was 6'4" - 3" taller than I am. and he played with his smaller toms and cymbals VERY high. I bought the kit to play, not as a museum piece. It is set up as to what is comfortable for ME. Gump set the kit up the way Neil requested it for him to play. I mention Lorne because I consulted him on the electronics and hardware etc. Not how I set it up to play. The shells and hardware etc for all the electric kit is 100% custom as is the rotating riser. This is not just another one of the replica R30 kits. The R30 replica kits came with a hard case for the cymbals. The other two packs you see with the Time Machine logos on them are for a second set of cymbals I own. The full backup set of cymbals for the Time Machine kit. I don't play them often as I don't want to damage the logo's on the cymbals (you can see them on facebook). So once again I'm not sure what your point is with the cymbals. The set I am playing are the set that came with the kit. Which are the replicas of Neil's. Again my statement was and still this - This is the only full exact replica of the R30 out there. That statement says nothing about how I angle or space my toms, height of cymbals etc. So again What is your problem and point? If I wanted to just "look at it" I would have set it up differently. But I bought the kit to PLAY IT and as I am a different height and vastly lower skill than Neil I need to set it up for what is comfortable for me to play. Yes I have the DW heads but I am using standard Remo's as I relearn to play. I will eventually replace them with the DW's because I like the look of them better. The comment I made when posting this video is this is the first attempt I made using Microphones. I have never recorded anything before or mixed it. This was a first attempt. You have to start somewhere when learning, and your complaining about my mics and placement now too? You don't even have any mics on your video or mixing with the song? When it comes to my covers I am echoing the same statement you made "I'm just a fan, with a decent kit trying to learn to play and record some of my favorite songs". I haven't made any other claim than that.
