    I’m not surprised Toyota understated the mpg on the sticker. My Sienna sticker showing 36mpg but i’m consistently getting 39-40 mpg with AC blasting under the TX heat. I wish every car manufacturer would learn this from Toyota

    Lexus is pure genius to make what everyone really wants, a hybrid luxury car that’s reliable.
    Beautiful design, paired with a fuel efficient engine; honestly why didn’t Bentley do this long time ago!

      I agree I hope one day they can offer mods if not a new version that has even better mpg. would be cool if they also gave us hybrid performance parts that make it faster but keep good mpg

    Thank you for your time and effort for making the video, I don't have the car but I was really curious about its range. So thanks alot for the video.

    Well I could not achieve these numbers with my 500h this summer during vacations but normal when you go 145 mph on the autobahn 😂😂😂

    Toyota does hybrid well, I'm not surprised at the results. Good testing. It'd be worse in the cold, wind, and rain. Just the nature of Toyota hybrid technology, more drag etc. But in good conditions, well done.

    But how exact is the fuel pump counter lol..

    • @offtheshelfrides
      @offtheshelfrides  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We try our best to use the same pump before and after to make sure that the gallons are calculated the same.

    This test and commentary misses a few important points. The first is what is the actual highway mileage? It goes down from 34.3 to 32.7 during the interstate driving, which was just 20 or so of the miles. That demonstrates lower mpg on the highway and this is key information. Second, using a different pump and the 3-click method adds serious error to the measurements. It would great to see a comparison with a non-hybrid using fb the same route.

      15 city / 25 Hyw avg of 18 MPG.
      I used the same pump, and I always wait 30 seconds then do 1 top off, but people throw a fit about damaging the emissions sensor.

    doesn't the car give you instant mpg, i have driven one i'm pretty sure it does lol.

    • @offtheshelfrides
      @offtheshelfrides  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It does, but the test is to see if the average mpg that epa lists and what the car says is actually right, all manufactures program the calculations slightly different and are rarely accurate

  • @MikkoHamunen
    @MikkoHamunen ปีที่แล้ว

    Is the EPA measurement method secret or are you unable to figure it out? Depending on the weightings of the test method, real life results can be anything compared to the EPA result. The test you have done is only relevant to other cars you have similarly tested. Hybrid results depend a lot on how the driver knows how to utilize the hybrid system. In general, the results improve as the skills develop and at the same time the comparison loses its meaning.

    • @offtheshelfrides
      @offtheshelfrides  ปีที่แล้ว

      All that I know is that there is a 2 cycle test and a 5 cycle test that the manufacturers do. I don't know what the exact testing features are. I don't necessarily think my testing is going to match it, but I just want people to know what to expect when they drive it under normal conditions. Not a controlled environment. This was my first test like this and may need to tweak a few things. Of course, not everyone is going to drive the same way I do either.

      @@offtheshelfrides Your test gives a good picture of the actual consumption. Over the years, I have noticed that Toyota's own readings are quite reliable, even the theoretical model previously used in Europe was practically achievable. (Yaris 1.5L h, 3.8L/100km = 62mls/USgal). I'm looking forward to new test runs.

      @@MikkoHamunen Do you feel 90 miles is enough? Should I increase in town driving? Open to suggestions

    • @MikkoHamunen
      @MikkoHamunen ปีที่แล้ว

      @@offtheshelfrides I personally find filling the tank to be the most difficult part of consumption measurement. It is not easy to fill the tank in exactly the same way as before departure. It's easy to make even a half-gallon mistake. My longest test has now lasted 6 years and 44,000 kms. Yaris h 2007, 4.95 l/100 kms, 48 mls/g :).

    • @offtheshelfrides
      @offtheshelfrides  ปีที่แล้ว

      @MikkoHamunen Totally agree. I try to use the same pump each time if possible, it should fill and top off the same way. I also count the top off in case I have to use a different pump. That is the closest I can get to replicating it each time.

    Would you buy this hybrid over the 5L V8????? 😅😂

    • @offtheshelfrides
      @offtheshelfrides  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I actually would. The performance is very similar and 10 Mpg more. The only thing the V8 has is the sound....just not enough for for to lose that much extra money in gas.
