    As an owner of two LC500, a coupe and a convertible… I’ve seen nearly every TH-cam video on the LC. You have made the BEST LC500 video I’ve ever watched! So much better than the ones I post to my LC500 TH-cam channel.

    I’ve watched well over 50 videos on the LC and yours was one of the top because of your spot on take on what this car is really about. Hope to purchase one before the naturally aspirated V8 becomes history. I just drove a 2024 with the new touchscreen infotainment system and 3d camera surround and now I would say this vehicle is absolutely perfect. You MUST drive this car to understand what it’s all about. I think in 10 years it will be an absolute classic. Plus you just can’t beat Lexus reliability. Anyway your take on it was the best I’ve heard.

      Wow, thank you! If it was in my price range, I’d honestly be in the market for one as a daily driver. I really didn’t have much of an opinion going in, but it won me over within the first mile.

    Lexus really nailed it. You really have to see and hear the car in person to truly understand how this car is a showstopper. I've seen loads of videos of the LC and it was always an ''OK'' car until I saw an Atomic Silver one cruising next to me during a sunny rush hour. I couldn't take my eyes off of it. The design is so unique and futuristic like no other cars on the road. A couple of weeks later, there was an ultra white white one on display at my Lexus dealership and from that moment, the car became one of my main goal.

    • @BuzzytheBlue

    Great review! I recently purchased a basically new 22' Inspiration Series Coupe. I actually held out on buying an LC500 for a few months to see if the the new touchscreen on the 24' would be worth holding out for. IMO it ruins the aesthetics of the interior flow and by holding out I ended up running into a dream spec with a unique exterior/interior color as well as custom Lexus 3D printed rims that look amazing. Sure I could have purchased a Mercedes, BMW, Aston etc. but once I sat in the LC500 I new it was the one. The level of quality of the interior is simply impeccable. The exterior has concept car looks and is just flat out sexy. Lexus reliability is the best of the best. There's really nothing like it on the road.
    My biggest concerns prior to purchase were the trackpad (which almost every youtuber trashes) and the HP due to it's weight. It turns out I actually really like the trackpad. There's even a setting where you can permanently display the cooled/heated seating controls on the right hand side of the display. I just swipe over to the right and click on the seat icon to adjust the cooled seats. So simple, yet reviewers act like getting to the cooled seat controls is a torturous process. The almost 500 HP is more than adequate. It's not a 0-60 world beater, but it really moves when needed and the exhaust note is addicting. The car is probably faster than 95% of what you'll encounter on the road. Buy it for what it is rather then comparing it to what it's not and you'll love it!

    • @BuzzytheBlue
      @BuzzytheBlue  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Agree with you on all fronts! I seldom go into infotainment specifics in my reviews because I don’t think that’s weighted much when purchasing these types of cars. Within a couple weeks/months of ownership almost any infotainment system will be second nature anyway.

      Agree about the new 24 model. I think they have spoiled the aesthetics of the dash. I have no trouble with the trackpad and I don’t need to use it whilst driving. But there where so many complaints about the trackpad.

      Well stated, and I agree on all points. Like you, I recently found a '22 inspiration coupe (#31 of 150) with 13k miles... the list of things I love about the car only grows with each drive. Concierge mode makes temperature (or maybe the better word is environment) control as simple as toggling the dedicated temp dial; the system then adjusts HVAC, seats, and even steering wheel automatically. My only complaint? It's really hard to enjoy the Mark Levinson audio system since all I want to do is listen to the beautiful engine & exhaust note!

    Who thought we would see the day when Lexus is still making a V8 2 door GT, and Mercedes has neutered the C63 AMG with a 4 cylinder so credit where credit is due. I will say the car is stunningly pretty in person with sharp muscular lines that aren't always captured virtually. Thankfully the styling works much better than some of their other models. The highlights are deinitely the engine and interior which has a stunning feel and look of quality. However for me the big negaitve was the infotainment. It felt extemely dated and difficult to use which was a real shame. Overall it's definitely a hidden gem, and a wonderrful value proposition for someone looking to have a little more flair than an SL and a little less maintenance than a vantage.

    • @BuzzytheBlue
      @BuzzytheBlue  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Totally agree, I was surprised how much MORE I liked the design in person versus photos. I had read that most of these early LCs can be upgraded to include CarPlay, which would at least let you bypass many of the dated feeling elements.
      (I’m a setup a phone mount +Bluetooth and never touch the infotainment again kind of guy, so I’ve got to work on being more critical/attentive of them lol)

      I’ve driven both my LC coupe and a Fugi edition RCF on the track at COTA. My videos at COTA and Barber are posted on TH-cam. The LC was more enjoyable (but slower) on the track. The major difference in enjoyment is the transmission and exhaust tuning. The 8 speed in RCF kills the soul of the car whereas the 10 speed with the amazing exhaust makes it so much more exhilarating.
      In both cars you’ll get smoked by 95% of the cars at a typical track day. Go drive both and LC wins my vote.
      I actually own 2 LC, Coupe and convertible, both 2021 Inspiration series.

      @@LC500-Lexus Hey bud I just bought a Fuji and test drove a LC500 extensively. LC500 felt less sporty larger and the weight was its biggest down fall which was unmistakable. Also overheating is not fun which you never will experience in a F product. Went with the Fuji such a better track car and duel purpose track car. The LC500 I feel is the new SC430 maybe better when I dont hit the track and maybe hit the golf course more. I prefer the rawness of the 8 Spd over the 10speed it has a raw 2nd gear shift that hits you so hard where as the LC500 as designed is louder stock but smoother. Not the epic BANG you get in the F and less character in terms of almost having that dated single clutch engagement which I love! ( One of the things I loved about the S Tronic V8 R8 ) Just feels like a more raw car more aggressive character and for a duel purpose car thats exactly what I wanted that the LC500 didnt provide which was a more refined road car. Made my Choice. F cars are always going to be the better track car bar none. I didnt enjoy the LC500 more than the Fuji which is why I voted with my pockets :) But you cant go wrong with a LC but only if you dont hit a track or care that much about performance with a Lexus product and prefer a luxury LS coupe so to speak which is what the car is. For me I wanted the best performing car they had and that was the Fuji all day no question until they make another F car. The Fuji felt a couple of steps and def paces ahead of the LC500 in terms for track dynamics smaller more nimble I honestly think you will get gapped in a LC500 against a Fuji no doubt about it. if you had pro drivers drive both you cant escape the perks for the Fujis performance enhancements and the weight of that LC500....got the sense of driving a luxury boat with the LC500 which was a turn off for me. Maybe when I retire I will get the wife a LC500 since she is not into the track where it will shine as a road car and there 50K now used which makes it a great bargain for the wife. For me I will wait for another F product or save up for a LFA one day but the LC500 will not be something I would personally buy or be interested in as an enthusiast that needs a duel track car after driving it.. Theres a reason there is zero videos of a LC500 beating anything on the road on TH-cam....like none. For me the Vote is RCF Fuj/TE no question unless Lexus makes a newer F product which is more my demo.

    Why would anyone want to spend time off of work or life and trade that time for sitting in the waiting room of a German car dealership? Sure, they make the wait as painless as possible with bad coffee and donuts but you’re still wasting your time waiting for the free, under warranty replacement of things like air flow sensors and crank shaft positioning sensors.
    Properly cared for and garaged that LC 500 is a 350,000 mile car. The only way a new German car gets there is with a rebuild especially all the crappy electrical harnesses, sensors and under hood plastics and composites.

As a five year owner of a 2018 LC 500, I have nothing but admiration for Lexus and the job they did with these cars. Those of us who live and drive in the real world couldn't buy a better car anywhere and at any price. The people who imagine they are race car drivers and who live in a fantasy world will opt for the fastest, baddest car they can buy even though 99.99% of the time they drive in the real world and not on the track. If you have any curiosity about just how great these cars really are, go drive one. You will then see what it's all about.

    I've owned a Lexus every year since 92 SC400. I now have a 24 LC500 Bespoke. Lexus has always got the Comfort/Performance ratio perfect. I could care less about getting a tenth of a second or two faster.
    It's my daily driver. How fast should I go from the stop sign down my street to my house? How fast can I go on residential streets? I can already snap my head back when I punch it on the highway.
    But you have to experience a long drive. You have to drive it over railroad tracks. You have go through bumpy roads on your way to work. I hate rattles and squeaks. Lexus doesn't have them.
    I have never wanted to flex at a track. I already own the car. That's flex enough. I grew up a long time ago. My son has a 23 BMW M3 Competition. 0-60 in like 3.3 seconds. Meh.
    This year they bowed to the pressure and went with a touch screen. Now I've got fingerprints all the time. I could care less about Apple Car Play or Android Auto. But its got it.
    I can't imagine being treated any better when I go for service. A loaner vehicle (brand new Lexus) and a car wash. So I'm going to give it all up so that I can impress some wannabe fan boy?

      Yeah my 335i gets similar MPG to my old Coyote 5.0 Mustang lol. I think a lot of the reasoning is also emissions requirements. Smaller displacement turbo engines help manufacturers meet the strict emissions standards. I don’t like it, but it’s the reality.

    I owned one for 2 years and the ONLY negative that I never got use to was the lack of power or its over built nature. The LC is such a work of art but its either extremely over weight or tuned from Lexus very poorly...technically both. In reality, It needs to lose about 4-5" in length, shed the back seats, and then we'll have the car the LC should be. Its featured by lexus as a track worthy car and its not even close to that.

  • @MercOne
    @MercOne ปีที่แล้ว

    Love the spin, Lexus is still offering natural aspiration because they don't have a modern TT V8 like all the competition. Not because of some strategy. Ditto with the 3.5L N/A V6 they're still selling in cars like the IS350. They're years behind in the engine game and now it's being spun into some type of brilliant stroke or strategic decision. Absolute hysterical nonsense. They car should be reliable since the V8 goes back to 2008, if isn't reliable now it never will be. Every GT car in the market is better than this at this point. They all do performance and touring better. The sound of this car, the looks and reliability are the reason you buy it. Lexus can't even figure out the suspension as they tweak it every single year. No one else is doing that and the GT formula is old as dirt man, there isn't some type of magic sauce or extraordinary effort to make this car when it lags any GT you can name.

    • @BuzzytheBlue
      @BuzzytheBlue  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Appreciating something for what it is, isn’t a spin. Whether it’s a strategic decision or a corporate limitation is neither here nor there, because the result is something that is unique whether you like it or not. Not to mention, most of the 4.0Ts, regardless of manufacturer, have been plagued with expensive upkeep and issues. They’re valuing performance over durability and cost of upkeep; so I won’t hold it against Lexus for being the only game in town that offers something you could actually own out of warranty. So, if sound, looks, reliability, and build quality don’t make up for horsepower, then we just value different things. Because if it’s this or say a BMW 850i, one to lease and one to own, I know my choice.

      @@BuzzytheBlue Uh appreciating something for what it is shouldn't involve slamming the rest of the industry/class for advancement and moving on. It's not about whether I like it or not, I didn't say anything about disliking the car. What I'm saying is that if you appreciate the LC for what it is, it shouldn't involve all the BS about other brands who sell more modern vehicles. It's not their fault that Lexus is stuck in the mid-2000s with their n/a V6 and V8 engines. Any car with a turbo V8 is going to be more expensive to run and maintain over time and all 4L TT V8s are not the same so it's total nonsense to paint them all with the same brush. No European GT is going to be inexpensive to keep long term and why is someone spending a 100K+ or a GT from any brand so worried about this? If that was most buyers a car like the Lexus LC would sell better. It is clearly a bigger worry among NON BUYERS than actual buyers. Do you have the reliability data and longevity stats on Mercedes or Porsche's TT V8s? You also seem to be be implying that Lexus can't do performance and reliability simultaneously, so they have to stick with an engine from 2008 for reliability. It's nonsense. Toyota is capable of both. People don't buy cars of this class for their ownership out of warranty, they're on to the next thing. I think the LC is a fine car and easily one of the best looking cars ever put on the road, but call it for what it is, also outdated and outperformed by everything else in it's class. That is the competition's fault or problem. Why can't Lexus make a car that is both competitive AND reliable? All of their RWD based offerings are totally outclassed by the competition. You keep talking about reliability like using an engine from 2008 and making it reliable is some type of accomplishment. After 15 years on the market the least it could be is reliable. Make a new vehicle that has the same reliability and then talk.

      @@MercOne You’re overstating how much I “slammed” anything, I happen to like just about every other car in this segment. In the video I claimed it's unique in the segment, and stated one anecdote about it's longevity vs. the turbocharged competition. If that's "slamming", then I don't know what to tell you. Sorry? I also have zero brand loyalty for Lexus (or any other brand for that matter). So you're digging for an argument that isn't even here. I liked that it's an old-school GT that reminds me of a lot of the cars that I miss from the mid-2000s (without the timing chain, rod bearing, or head stud issues) I’m not going to waste everyone’s time complaining about the LC500s numbers when Google can confirm them as well as I can. I wasn’t bothered by it, and I wasn't about to pretend that I was, so I discussed the elements I enjoyed. If you scroll down, there seems to be quite a few owners that agreed with that take. I'm not arguing that it's a sales success (it isn't), or that the rest of the segment is inferior, just that I'm glad it exists in it's current configuration, regardless of the reasoning behind it.

    • @MercOne
      @MercOne ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BuzzytheBlue The point is that’s it’s only “unique” because it’s outdated. 15-20 years ago every car in this segment had a naturally aspirated engine. You keep talking about longevity, that’s not an accomplishment when you keep the same engine in production for 15 years. It’s expected. Any manufacturer would have great reliability if they kept the same components around that long. Your review didn’t come off the way you’re stating it now. I don’t care what owners agreed with. Nothing I’ve said relates to ownership.

    • @BuzzytheBlue
      @BuzzytheBlue  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MercOne Then as I said, you're looking for an argument that isn't here. We're arguing two completely different things. I never said the reliability is an accomplishment, just that I appreciate it. I never said the engine isn't outdated, just that I don't care because I value the result regardless. If that wasn't clear before, it should be now.
