ALL the legs matter. They all made up for the first girl. I don't think that girl trained for 1200m it looked like she runs longer races. The guy commenting just thinks the anchor can make up any lost distance. And he's somewhat right, it looked like she wasn't even tired when she won. Running just enough to win. There were more races the next day. The third girl could have also ran faster, I think she was saving up for the next race too. AND injured.
I just love Jessica Hull's facial expressions, like she's out for a Sunday stroll. Watch her in the mile, not even breathing hard at the end.was probably a practice run

Jessica Hull is a badass. I done watched 4 of her races today. She seems so relaxed even when pushing it to 100%. You can see pure joy on her face during her runs. You can tell she really loves the sport. That chick has heart!!
Those commentators were absolutely horrendous. Totally detracted from a good race. Oregon's 400 and 800 meter runners put Oregon back in the race and set their 1600 meter runner up perfectly. And, no, Hull did not need to hug the rail. She knew she had the speed to hold off someone coming up inside and clearly wanted to stay out a little bit (still in lane 1) for a smooth run. It would be better to watch this video on mute.
Night Fury I’m aware. I competed in DI track. I’m just saying that it’s pretty obvious Jess is dominating everyone so it doesn’t matter if she’s a few steps off the rail. Besides, she used people she was lapping to force the second place runner wide in the final 100 whereas Jess didn’t have to swing wide at all. STRATEGY

I loved watching Womens Oregon Track back then… I would go watch their meets whenever I could… Jess Hull has the best running mechanics I’ve ever seen… Her and Lilli Burden both which Oregon recruited both.. Great job

No Oklahoma Sooners in ANY distance events. So sad☹️. OK State first leg spent SO much time in second lane. Pass or not, but don’t run extra! 3rd leg from Oregon showed how it’s done. Patience and passed on the straight.

Some of you are confused about the importance of the 400 and 800 mts mattering to the race. Even though both are not great time generators... they do afford, as we see in this race as Oregon came back from next to last to 3rd place in the 400, that even the shortest leg is as big a benefit as the time generating longer ones.
I love it when announcers are like, "they have an incredible kick"... As a runner all I'm thinking is- Sure, if they have saved the energy for it. Lactic Acid doesn't care about your "incredible kick". LOL

It'd be fun to see a Katlyn Touey vs Jessica Hull. Katlyn goes out fast and increases her speed with each lap. How would Hull hang with her? Of course Jessica's in college and Katlyn's a senior in high school, so she has greater strength and experience. But I'm speaking from a tactical point of view.
tactically Jessica Hull is superior and has the faster speed. Tuoey's speciality is the longer distance specifically 3k and 5k. Hull has a 4:01 1500m PB and specializes more in the middle distance, but she also is no slouch at the longer distances either her 5k PB is 15:01 which is 30sec+ faster than Tuohy's . Tuohy's mile/1500 times are no where in that range and she does not have the leg speed that Hull has. Hull would just sit on Tuohy and easily out-kick her over the final 400.

Hull ran an extra 40 meters because she was running couple of feet away from the railing, and closer to the second lane. She does not understand how much more she has to run becuase of the number of sharp tern in a 200 meter lane.
