Muir was incredible mounting the turn at the final lap and clocked 26.4 km at that point. Brilliant running. Hard to think that today (16/7/24) Jess Hull has run a 3:50.83 (0.73) behind the WR then, and just behind Faith Kipyegon's world record 3:49.04. These girls have improved out of sight.

@@mikestanley4501 How are you people so sure of who is doping? Have they been detected in testing or are you following some observations/algorithms? I'm interested. It's a bold accusation and bearing false witness, if it is false, is akin to breaking one of the ten commandments. I remember when running 2.4 kms in a race, my colleague ran 60 seconds faster than me. About 8 weeks later, I was determined to stay no more than 50 metres behind him and I carved off 62 seconds off my time and beat him. Now, all I did in the lead up is run 5 km runs, only one each week for the previous 5 weeks. I was 20 years old. Fast forward decades, today I learned that I had no understanding of repair, recovery and nutrition back then (and only learning now in my 60's). I ended up doing three 2 hour runs per week, and trained for another three hours on top of those runs and just waited until normal meal times to eat. No protein powders, or whatever they eat drink these days. Point, change one or two things in your training, and have a solid determination, and you can make leaps and bounds.
