@@drmatt357 I have a boker elite 6/8 and I want a smooth edge because I have sensitive skin. Now I'm not sure what type of edge I should put on it for that reason but maybe you would know
@@drmatt357 I don't, I've sent out my razor before to get a edge and it didn't come out the way I wanted, it tugged pulled and then my face got razor burn really bad lol
@@JBLUE97 - That’s cuz you sent it to the wrong guy!😏 Sounds like you need a coticule edge. They’re known for their very smooth, “buttery” edge that is the favorite with people who have sensitive skin.
Please may I ask, I've been given a straight razor and there is no edge at all. There is no makers mark but it's hollow ground so I have no idea what it is. My worry is that the shaving edge is not flat. If I put the blunt edge on something flat and hold it to the light I see gaps. My question is: Should a straight razor have a flat edge please? Then I need to sharpen it as it could not cut even paper it is that blunt. Many thanks Gray - in the UK!
Always good to see you, Doc! Ballistol is a life saver here in the summer months. I use it on my razors and on the equipment at the shop too 😂 Take good care and stay cool out there!
Good vid, sir. That lotion should be great in the winter. As I live in one of the humidity centers of the USA (SE TX), might not be viable in summer but we’ll see. Ballistol is a very good product. I use it on guns and knives but always used mineral oil for straights. Makes sense for razors though. It’s not water miscible but it does emulsify in water, just don’t care for the scent. I heard it described as, “smells like the south end of a northbound mule” 😎
A quick question about the aftershave - as you convinced me to try the series. Are they all being send in a plastic bottles? I admit I was a little disappointed to find out that mine were.
The man with the baby's butt face, jejeje. Hope that cognac smell doesn't wring some "concern" on your work. Ok, ok, enough jokes. Since you're one of the friendly doctors on youtube I have a question off topic, I follow another doc who does medical topics, is a surgeon, and he discusses the Johnny Deep finger injury, and I keep thinking to my self what about to not freak out if I see another fellow human being with a bloody-gory injury, because me freeze in horror isn't the very useful state to help. Some advice would be great!! Thanks and keep being smooth!!
Good to see the boss back at work!💪💪 On choppers, have you ever heard of Yurii Kravchenko before? He makes some of the best custom razors in the world - all kinds of models and scale materials to choose from at decent prices, in whatever size you want (6/8-13/8!). His steel’s super-easy to hone, and it holds any edge you throw at it. A definite must-try for any experienced straight shaver!
I have seen pictures of his razors but never held one in my hand. It does look like he does beautiful work. If he’s listening, maybe he can send me one to try and I’ll feature it in a video!

Hey J., I used to recommend mineral oil too but that's when Jarod told me that razors, at least in FL still rust with it so yeah, Ballistol!

Hey Matt, what linen strop do you use?
It's the herring bone one and usually available on the European strops but I got mine from www.scrupleworks.com
