deffo master barber at work... I went to a master barber once in Italy an old fellow in a small rustic shop for a shave... didnt even feel the blade... my face left that shop like it was on a cloud... not even the MOST expensive upmarket barbers in london have ever come close...

It's not just Italians. It's typical of the high standard of professional service in loads of ( mostly non-English speaking ) countries, from Turkey and Egypt to where I live, here in Japan. Par the course.

For anyone wondering, the damp warm towel is there to moisten the hair/beard. The cream is there to hold the moisture in. Without that the shave would be terrible and cause razor burn issues. Having the hair moist before shaving is key. The brush used to apply the shaving cream also lifts the hair up for a better shave. You may not notice it but the bristles and the way it's used makes the hair stand up, mostly through proper strokes on the face. You shave with the grain (as the hair grows) to prevent ingrown hairs and razor burn. You shave the neck last because that's where the larger and more coarse hair i s found, which needs to "soak" a bit longer. Once done cutting make sure to rinse with cold water and maybe use a cold cloth to pat dry. After the shave is done you should also apply a moisturizing aftershave that will dry fairly quick. If you still have problems with bumps or razor burn then you could try something with an antiseptic in it.

As someone who shaves with a straight razor, I must say thay this man is an artist. He makes my best shaves look like an amateur attempt, and I've been using a straight razor for over a year.

@@acumennova3929 Not that close, no. His movements are very precise, and he moves quickly as well. I'm a lot slower and more prone to nicking. Also I just don't shave super often, so 🤷♂️

I'm from California and i also just discovered I'm actually Italian due my grandfather who disclosed this info before his passing. All my life i thought i was mexican. This explains why he had so much interest in traditional shaving. It was in his blood. That also explained why i was so fixated on learning as a child. This video of which just discovered will be my vacation spot. I will be heading that way to see my roots. This will be one of the spots i shall visit. I am an addict when it comes to these awesome things. Great work gentlemen.

You can see in how they go over little things a few times and might think it’s just for the ASMR or something-no, I guarantee it’s the art of their experience with their work. It’s thorough, worth every cent you might pay for, and something I hope to experience one day, the work of true barbers firsthand.

For a moment, I felt like "how long is this shave going to take?" then I realized it was ~15 minutes and what an awesome experience for an often mundane "chore". Appreciating things like this is really living.

Idk if they realize this, but their barber that does these "crispy fades" take twice as long to do just a haircut, on top of that I'm positive he doesn't know how to shave. 16 minutes for a shave is pretty fast especially when most of it is prep time
