I'm starting to plan out how to train my next dog. I am an experienced golden owner. I will say everything he says is definitely true. I even learned some new things. If I can add my two cents, look into health issues with family. My dogs family all passed away from cancer. Sadly my 13yo will have to be put down in the coming days for the same reason. Who was an other wise active and healthy for an older golden a few weeks before. I have heard English cream retrievers typically tend to have healthier bloodlines. So my next dog will probably be an English Creme.
We brought a 5 month retriever rescue he seems to do number 2 outside but refuses point blank to pee outside to the extent that I take him out don’t let him focus on anything other than sniffing and encouraging the pee and he still comes in the door and pees inside ! I even know the Q for when he’s going to pee and still can’t get ahead of it
I have a quick question. We are about to get our golden puppy (so excited) but we also have an older dog (shihtzu)who sometimes uses puppy pads. I dont want the new puppy doing that. Any advice? Thanks 🙏

I know some successful cases of big dogs in an apartment and I know it takes way more work, I’m super ok with work! But I’m afraid he will be unhappy anyways :( I really want to be the best dog owner ever.

Hey No worries !! Just keep calm! Every one gets diseases but you have to care and cure them !! Don't let that stop you from getting the best friend of your life !!

A golden will be happier in an apartment, getting walks and exercises outside everyday, than in a big house with a backyard that he never leaves...
