My golden bit my youngest son in the face over a pig ear when she was about 14 weeks old, fast forward she bit a few times but never me as mom. She just bit my teenage son in the face.. she 6 months now and nearly broke blood 😢 at this point I’m going to rehome her I have had her in training

I literally just took Tommy, a one year old golden for a long walk, returned home and gave him his breakfast. Within 5 minutes he looked directly at me and pulled plants out of their pots and ran off with the pots, spilling potting mix everywhere along his way. I assume he thinks it's a game and wants me to chase him - which I didn't. I stood up, walked inside and he promptly tried to follow, leaving the destroyed yard in his wake. We've only had him for a month, and he's so good when I leave him home alone, just sleeps. The second I'm home he commences the destructive behaviour no matter how much attention I give him. Is this just temporary until we have a solid relationship?

I'm about to pick up my first Golden Retriever in the next couple weeks. I'm naming her Dolly! After Dolly Parton of course, but I'm so excited. I had a Toy Poodle/Bichon Frise mix before, so I have potty trained a dog before. However with a bigger dog, I'm trying to go about this as easily as I possibly can.

I wish I had seen your videos 6 months ago! I have effectively 'ruined' my now 8-month GR...I am now trying to 'fix' the wrongs I did, trying to help my boy be the best he can be. I don't want to give up on him, us..but the challenges are great and the work is daunting. I'm trying! All I can say is "I'm trying"! Thank you. I love watching your videos u are so informative, I started watching your videos to learn about our adopted golden retriever x with golden doodle. More retriever than poodle. Leo is less than 1 year, 60lbs and he has come strong retriever bad habits. I would like any suggestions or info to help him settle down in with my family. He mouths us especially my 7 year old son who has special needs. He jumps up on some people, we can't walk him on a leash he literally jumps and chews and pulls on the leash. He is very anxious and scared of noise. We are suckers, he is very adorable but very temperamental. My major concerns are that we are not successful in learning how to work with Leo, and we have to give him up. We have had dogs, and have been doing one on one training with Leo but after the lessons he gets worse with bites and jumping on us. I wanted to be able to go hiking with him, camping, walks, playing fetch. Pls help us 😢

Oh, no no no no NO Furminator on any double coated dog or dog with long hair!! That is a BIG NO-NO!!!!! Do NOT use a Furminator on a Golden!! It cuts of the coat, damaging it!! Use a Mars- Coat King, but NOT a Furminator!!!! That is just as big of a NO-NO as shaving!!!! Wish you knew this before the video Will. NO Furminators on Goldens!!!!

Do you suggest every hour potty breaks during bedtime as well? For how long?

I have a quick question. We are about to get our golden puppy (so excited) but we also have an older dog (shihtzu)who sometimes uses puppy pads. I dont want the new puppy doing that. Any advice? Thanks 🙏

What do you do when your dog isn’t food driven?

i think they are way too dirty for a dog that doesnt want to live outside. if i had a dog's agenda and only wanted to hang out i could see it. but being around what amounts to an demonstrably unhappy animal whenever it isnt being catered to is exhausting in my experience. summertime especially is difficult. when its hot and long walks are even more inconvenient. and she wont indicate when she has to pee , just drops it . full lagoon on the floor - has no problem whining when she wants in the house, but indicating having to pee somehow isnt possible. it is very frustrating to be so put out but such a friendly animal.

So what happens when the dog’s too old to walk, but sane enough to bark their lungs off?

We brought a 5 month retriever rescue he seems to do number 2 outside but refuses point blank to pee outside to the extent that I take him out don’t let him focus on anything other than sniffing and encouraging the pee and he still comes in the door and pees inside ! I even know the Q for when he’s going to pee and still can’t get ahead of it

Well Kengal's may be the most powerful dogs in the world but apparently they are not the best dogs for protection when they should be. I've heard that they are a loyal.and friendly breed of dogs as well so I don't see any reason why they aren't the best dogs for protection.

I didn't see anything by scrolling through that showed how to stop a dog from jumping up. As I recall from having dogs while growing up, there was one effective way of doing this, and it was just to pull up your leg at an angle, so that your knee then came in contact with the dog's chest.
