I love the emphasis on routine and planning ahead a bit. One of the most important things for a dog, is that they know what is expected from them. They can't know that if their owner doesn't.
My brother just brought me home and 11 week old Bernese mountain dog that somebody had to surrender. Paperwork pure breed all that.. he is so social and well-tempered I don't have a dog but my neighbor does and we just put a fence up with a side gate that we could leave open so they could see each other whenever they want. My neighbor's dog is a 3 months old German Shepherd pup

Their extreme cuteness make it easy for owners to just treat the dog as a doll/toy. My mom always found it hard to discipline and draw boundaries with our Bernese because she was so cute; incidentally, my dog would use her puppy eyes to beg for food from my mom and would slowly creep into the kitchen when my mom was cooking. She'd never do that with anyone else in the house though and she'd immediately run away from the kitchen if she heard anyone else's footsteps. Because we disciplined her well in the first year of her life, she was super easy to deal with the rest of her life (and her "bullying" of my mom was only limited to begging for food and attention). After the first year, very little "extra" discipline was required; she never forgot her commands, was great at reading our tone, and never really looked for trouble. But you really gotta nail the puppyhood.
I just want to say, "excellent job, I really enjoyed that."
Someone left a cardboard carton at the doors of an animal shelter one night. Next morning, the shelter staff took a litter of 5 puppies out of that box. I adopted 3 of the 5. The vet's best guess is a mix of GSD and Bernese. One of the males looked more Bernese than his siblings. He had the coat and the build. A sweeter disposition I have never encountered. When he wanted attention he would come up beside you and lean ever so gently. On the rare occasion he demanded attention, he would throw his entire weight on top of you and pin you down. The brothers passed at age 10. Only their sister still survives. I suspect because she seems to have more GSD in her genetics. I feel more gratitude to have known them than sorrow at the loss. I am hoping to adopt again soon for her sake and mine. If fate is kind, it will grant me another pup or two near future.

Hello, I am driving to pick up my pup on the 28th, the drive is a few hours. How do I make sure to take to potty train it when on the road? Is it okay to pull over at every rest stop? I was just curious. Thank you.
Can you tell me how much exercise my 5.5 mos old Bernese mountain dog puppy should get? I’m worried about giving home too much...he has some other pups come over for a walk almost everyday for the last 3-4 weeks...we will go for about a 6-8 kms hike, leashless...so they run and play the whole time...is this too much? We also go on short little stints, to prevent boredom during the day

First of all buy a good vacuum cleaner. Berners really shed a lot but are so lovable that you do not mind to vacuum cleaning daily. I know all about it. Berners always in my heart.
berne doodles are the scourge of the earth - don't support that. Poor mixed up genetic freaks are a nightmare
What to do when they go in the incorrect place? I know of redirect but after you redirect do you give them a treat right when you bring them to the right place even if they don’t go to the bathroom once placed in the right place?
Is a Bernese okay in a hot climate. Average 26 degrees Celsius??
I have 2 bernese and a cocker, the 2nd bernese is 6 months old and is out of control, very rough when playing and he hurts the smaller dog and even hurts us when biting. He doesnt notices he is so full of energy idk what to do

We just got a 9 week old Bernese puppy and I feel like she’s either sleeping or wanting to chew on toys or us. I know puppies having a biting phase, but it seems it’s all she wants to do. She doesn’t sit still enough to even sit on our laps. Is this normal puppy behavior? (The constant nipping). Thanks!
Just got a Bernese mountain dog puppy, potty training hasn’t been an issue, only has had one accident so far, and it was after he had just went #1. However he hates his leash, won’t move when it’s on. Any advice?

This video was ok but this is how I would do it: so before I bring it home I’d play with my dog I’m about to adopt and what that does it makes your dog not overwhelmed from all the things that happens in the 3 four hour time period if it an hour then your puppy would get overwhelmed and get destructive which is not good then when I bring it home I’d let it explore play do what it wants keeping an eye on it and every hour to hour and a half I’d bring my puppy go outside to go potty and then it’s pretty much that but I’d show where it would sleep and eat then the next day I do the training
Agree. There is too much that is strange all at once which is daunting to a young one. To the pup it could feel like an alien abduction to a strange new planet. Limit loud noise and other stressors and give the pup a chance to acclimate. Give the pup steady company so it does not feel lonely. I once took in a dog whose evicted owner had left her behind and locked up in her crate. I requested and received some items of the owner's unwashed clothing. The dog immediately responded to the scent and snuggled down upon the clothing for a nap. When the surroundings are entirely new, something familiar can be enormous comfort.

Nope they just come in the standard size! They do range from Medium to Extra Large though! I've had a 75 lb one and a 110 lb one. Have another one on the way in a few days and he's got big paws so pretty sure he will be a big guy.
I chose a puppy thats half bernese and half great pyranees.

Suggestion: Cut down on the words by millisecond machinegun speaking style, and then there is no need to repeat every point 10 times.
What to do? Love it, feed it, play with it, share your bed. Your dog will tell you what it wants.
Not only that. It needs to know from you what is and what is nOT acceptable behaviour! Its a giant after all.
