Very nice video. I do not have faith in my skills after having watched it though. Had no idea things had to be done in such a particular order. Amazingly tedious.
Great video, we found this video at just the right time. Right now we are working on our 3.0 Mercruizer with a stuck valve. Have just ordered a new head, and I really have to say it is hard to get the right parts for these. They have about 9 different types of 3.0 and we are having a tough time because I can't read the engine identification tab on ours. Really like the torque spec, you offered in the video, and how to set the values on this engine, may just save us from getting the book for this build.
Loved the video, I am in the process of rebuilding my Merc. 140, I hope I don't have to go that far. I will check the oil once running to look for signs of water, and compression test. Loved the How to become a Christian vied too. Keep up the good work!
Its refreshing to hear of your faith in Christ right from the get go. May god bless you through your ministry.i have an issue with my 89 2.3l cobra. I ran it and noticed it to be sluggish andd underpowered. I took the cover off the engine compartment and noticed very milky frothy oil everywhere. Would a failed head gasket be the culprit? Im hoping its the least catastrophic issue...and not a cracked head. Any thoughts or ideas thay coild help would warm my heart. God bless you sir.
Its pretty funny that all the boat shops around my area Milwaukee, WI will not just service the head please help me find a place that will help thank you !
What a great video! Do you use any type of silicone sealer along with the gaskets? I just bought an used boat and the previous owner had done the had gasket and used an orange sealer for the valve cover, push rod cover, pretty much everywhere there is a gasket.
Hello. Thanks much for the video. I do have a question. I have the same boat and year. The boat lose the compression and leak water inside the pistons . I replaced the manifold and elbow and all seals. Put everything back together but still have no compression. Any thoughts on this problem. Thanks
The question is when I get to the valves... I can not manually turn the boat over, so I do the valve sequence set on zero, and do all four then turn the engine over?
how did you turn the crank? Wasnt in your video doing this tomorrow on a motor, having difficulty find a good spot to put a wrench or anything to get some bit? Please help. Also fellow Christian love that your spreading the word!!
Thanks for the comment. It's been some time since I made this repair. I honestly don't remember. Once you sort it out feel free to post back here. Best of luck with your repair!
I was given a boat that has a inline six, and when I went to look at the motor I noticed that it has milky oil. Would that be from a blown head gasket or the exhaust manifold being bad?
Go Bless I'm fixing 1999 Sugarsand jet boat - which has a 6 Cyl 175 HP Mercury Head Gasket soon also just tip find out why the head gasket blow over heated or waped head? we are Christian all so Amen
The only mistake I saw is when you called the rocker arms, valves. The push rod pushes on the rocker arm and the rocker arm depresses the valve. Otherwise very well done.
Tons of incorrect and missing info. During valve adjustment it is 3/4 of a turn not 1. Also you're lacking to tell viewers to begin on cyl 1 compression stroke. Thanks for almost blowing up my motor!
I was watching your video right up until you had to push your religious crap. If the video is about an engine, how about you keep it about an engine and not about your twisted sense of allegiance.
Great video! Thank you for that. I was praying feeling a tad discouraged and found ur video. I feel much better about this now. God is good🙏🏼
I have a Mercruiser V8, so I had to watch this video twice. Other than that, pretty good.
Thanks for the comment. Best of luck with your repair.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣times two

I have the same boat and the wire harness has been cut. Just wondering if you have a wiring diagram for it?
Do you think its possible to take out the head cylinder only by unscrewing the 10 big bolts? Or i have to take also the rockers arms and valves?
Great Video, THANK YOU!!!
I Am Victorious Glad you enjoyed it!
Lets say, my motor is disassembled, I will let you know how it goes.

Roughly how much did the machine shop charge to have the heads resurfaced? Might have to do the same and trying to budget. Great video!
I think it was around $200 per head
Well done. God bless!
Hello. Quick question how much did you expend to fix the head gasket
Where did you locate new parts for your 3.0 i.e. thermostat housing and sending unit
Good question. It’s been several years ago and I don’t remember. Sorry about that

Great question. I suspect a blown head gasket is the culprit. Obviously you'll have to do a tear down to be sure. Best of luck with your repair.

PRACERZ Thanks for the corrections. That was my first boat engine rebuild.

What is the proper way?
