Merry Christmas Gift and Joe. I hope your holiday season is going well. I'm glad that you and Gift have figured out that having a big get together of expats for the holiday celebration is more work than it is worth. Nice to see you celebrate your holiday small and chilled. We have learned to not even cook home cookings anymore to reduce the pressure and stress of the holidays. Plenty of places to order take-out food to bring home and enjoy with a few friends and family members.

5 1/2 hours in immigration, WOW! I'm happy I did my TR extension in Bangkok before I arrived HH. It took 15 minutes in Bangkok.

Merry Christmas to you both!! Will be very interested to see how the process of getting an European visa for Gift works! By the way, if you decide to not drive yourself to Malaysia, it is very easy to take a ferry from Koh Lipe to Langkawi (takes less then 1,5 hour). Langkawi is a beautiful island of Malaysia to stay for a couple of days. From Langkawi you can easily take a plane to Penang or Kuala Lumpur....

For updates on conversions it would help others to put up £ and € as well as the $ amount
With the exchange rates fluctuating daily, probably best just to goggle the conversion in your own currency. Then you know that it is accurate.

No! We have no plans to visit the UK anytime soon. Hopefully one day we will visit there.
Seems like that they would extend the time since you have been there for awhile and you are married to Thai
Perhaps one day, long term expats will be giving longer extension of stays. Gift and I aren’t married yet but one day we will tie the knot.

Maybe immigration is busier now because you told everyone about Phrachuap Khiri Khan. I have been keeping that a closely guarded secret from ex-pats now since I first went there 30 years ago. I knew it would eventually happen but luckily I'm too old to travel now anyway, so I'll sit here on my farm and remember what Thailand has been like for me, and the changes in Thai and the infrastructure, since first coming here in 1970. I forgive you anyway and love your down-to-earth honest recordings.

I wonder why the visa is expensive in the SEA countries, and limited stay permission to leave, I lived in China for a few years, my first visa was only 30 days, then i got a one year 90 day multiple entry, i now hold a 10 year 90 day multiple entry, for $180 ,
Every country is different but Thailand is where I prefer to be. It is awesome that you got a 10 year visa at a really good price. Happy Holidays!
If you lodge 800K in your bank 2 mnths prior extension, and 3 months post extension you will not need to show the money coming from abroad. (Here I only need to update my passbook each month and provide a six-month statement.
I plan on using the 800K for my extension of stay next year.

Joe, meeting you guys in person was a big deal because of how much you have influenced me over the years. I am so excited to finish up this school year in the states and come retire in Thailand in June. After meeting you guys in person a few days ago I was thinking about Gift's dance at the end of videos. I now see it as a "celebration of life" dance. For the most part, I believe everyone follows the same requirements depending on the visa type.
There still making you jump through hoops. It sounds like every year all the money you've spent and still treated this way.
You are both really nice people and promote the positives in Thailand. Thailand Elite is the only way because im not going to be treated and questioned in a third world country this way. Id rather just pay once. I do enjoy Thailand and just except most of the negatives just not jump through hoops and questioned.

Since I live in Thailand as a guest and by choice, I don’t mind dealing with the visa requirements. Thailand has great private healthcare, malls, infrastructure and safety, I don’t see it as being a 3rd world country.
We miss your travels with Chuck and Paige
It hasn’t been that long since we traveled with Chuck & Paige. Where they live is a 15 hours and 2-3 nights on the road. When Kara lived here, we use to see each more often. I’m sure we will travel together again one day but currently we all have different plans.
