you keep saying you were on that plane for 13+ hours - well you werent - what you are looking at is the local time at destination. Since you refer to after songkran im guessing you flew on april 17th - that flight was 2.5 hours delayed - sure a hefty delay but nowhere near the 13+ hours you are claiming - but as long as it brings clicks go ahead i guess...
Let me do a little math for you. Original arrival time we were supposed to be land in Dubai was was 0709 we got off the plane after 13:00. Original flight time hours to Dubai/destination was 6 hrs and 20 minutes. We spent one hour on the tarmac in Bangkok. How many hours is it from 7 AM to 1:00 PM? If my math is correct the answer is 6 hours. 1+6+6=13. The time at the destination just happened to coincide with the number of hours that we were on the plane. I don’t expect that we will receive an apology from you 😊
Some people can't do the maths...hired a driver? Getting a taxi. Lol

Yeah looks like April 17 with the plane registration also checking out (A6-EDK). After departing an hour late flight radar has total flight time of 7 hours 52 minutes including over 90 minutes of tedious circling before touching down in Dubai. The time spent stuck on the plane would have been longer depending on when passengers boarded and desembarked. FR24 has them touching down at 920am and in the video theyre still stuck on the tarmac without a gate at 1245pm based on the footage. This journey indeed looks like a nightmare. 13 hours checks out.
I picked them up in Venice. Joe is ever the gent, I drug him around for 10 minutes or more looking for my car!! No criping from him!! Always kind and genuinely appreciative.

In spite of all your frustrations it was still an enjoyable video..working for an airline, we fly space available so in a situation like yours our problems are compounded but we have to be flexible and aware..spent many a night in connection cities waiting for space to open on a flight, never checked any luggage so that was a relief..anyway thx for showing in spite of the difficulties, appreciated 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Glad you're remaining positive after all the issues getting into Venice, very frustrating but completely understandable after seeing the flooding in Dubai - information which they should of shared early on with the passengers instead of leaving everyone in the dark. Have a great time Joe and Gift!

The floods in Dubai were all over the news here in Australia. Worst in 75 years
I took that same flight to Venice from BKK and it went smooth as silk. I think it was the location, Dubui, and the middle east conflict. The Dubui desk was crazy in Naples on the way back. I was lucky and used Turkey Airlines to come back. I am sure you were flying on that day the Dubui desk was crazy.

That's odd and insensitive that the captain & co-pilot were not allowed to inform passengers that flooding and rain were the delay issues. Especially given that some passengers would be nervous due to tensions in The Middle East

Hi Joe, wow what a flight, next time fly Thai airways straight to Malpensa, 9 - 10 hour. Used to fly all the time when we were station ed at the F35 FACO in Cameri.

Dubai airport can be a chaos.When me and my wife left Thailand in February whe had a timeslot for about 1 hour and half for connection flight to Brussels,than when landed whe had only 1 hour,luckily there was a worker holding signs with our connection flight on the exit gate,run into a bus,litterly run to the gate and whe made it just,verry stressful 😢

Just a couple of days ago, I read that Dubai is officially the second busiest airport in the world and the number one busiest for international travel.

Due to delays I’ve have to catch a connecting flight from Korea to thailand in 12 minutes. It was nice because they had people waiting to get us at the gate and lead us through the airport to the next gate.

If I’m getting a connecting flight first thing I do is check. The boards and find out what gate and time
You can claim loss from carrrier and or insurance.. I was once delayed 6 hrs by Qantas going to Bkk! Once on the the way to Athens via Dubai, we hovered for hrs before we could land.. I now only do long haul flights with a stop over for a day or so..

The adventures of flying. Glad you didn't miss your connection and FINALLY made it to Venice. We were leaving DFW last August, on our way to Amsterdam, and after everyone was on board, the genius who was pulling the jet-bridge back from the plane, crashed it into the engine!! We all had to disembark and get a new plane. Always something!! SMH!!

Emirates Dubai-Bangkok flight was the best flight experience we ever had. Of course there were no weather issues. Still, they screwed up on communicating to the passengers.

When I see a layover time of over 4 hours in between flights, I am much more at ease knowing I have more room for mistakes at the airport. Great job going back to look at the flight board. When it comes to competent customer service at ANY airport, It does not exist! It`s every man for himself! Look forward to the Italy coverage!

Yes Dubai had storms 2 years of rain in 2 days ...runways flooded planes diverted etc ...but on a positive note you got there let the fun begin.

So you got off the BKK-DXB flight after 12:45 or 6 hours late and your connecting flight was at 09:05 or four hours earlier? You never said but it must have been delayed also so your connection worked except for the baggage?
Please read the pinned comment and our reply, there we explain the delay and time spent on the plane. I baggage did not arrive with us in Venice.

Joe, Gift its too bad you guys had to go through that, believe me I feel you guys. Unfortunately Dubai and the surrounding area was hit with what meteorologist call an"atmospheric river" similar to a monsoon but only a years worth of rain fell in 24 hrs causing many flights to be delayed, cancelled and diverted to Doha ! This occurred the other day before your flight and unfortunately you guys were already locked in to your reservations. My first( Qatar Air)flight to Bangkok in 2015 March I got delayed out of Philly for 3 hrs due to a snow storm and missed my connection in Doha to Bangkok so Ta had to wait at Suvarnhabumi for 12 hrs cause I didn't arrive till 12 midnight that night ( without my luggage)when I was supposed to be there 12 noon the day before 😮. Tired, hungry and pissed but you've arrived safely. Gonna be alright from here on and I'm sure your luggage will arrive soon at your residence ! 😊

Same thing happened to us in march, we missed our flight circling around dubai, ended up emirates putting us up in a hotel for 2 days we got compensation so not too bad, shit happens lol

Glad all ok now.My wife got caught up in the same situation delayed BKK to Dubai.Thankfully,her flight from Dubai to UK is underway now after a 4 hr delay.
Very tough circling the airport/parked on taxi way for longer than the initial flight. That would drive me nuts. So far no-one has been declared dead after the region took its heaviest rainfall in 75 years. However, the UAE don't typically count the immigrant worker population. Should be a good trip. I'd recommend getting the airline app to keep you updated on your flight and connections. Once inside the connecting airport and connected to WiFi, you can check your connecting gate and flight status. Some airline apps even have airport maps to help guide you through the airport.

This is the most wound up I have ever seen you, brother. It's the nature of travel. You need to roll with stuff you can't control. You're going to take years off your life if you don't. In my experience, things usually work out with or without you stressing about it, so it's best not to stress. And so far as the things that don't work out, they always make for great stories after the fact. Hang in there!
