I understand trying to crush icompetence by removing the issue, but why kill someone who has done everything you asked to the best of their ability and only failed because of the incompetence of others? If Luke escaped before she could get her hands on him, why is that her fault and not the Colonels (which in reality it was)? She didn't let Luke escape, the Colonel did. She did her best that she could and failed because of the actions of others, not through fault of her own... but of course, Vader IS a villain so.... Meh?

When you think about it, it's not very in keeping with her established character to have her run away after Luke escaped.
Our introduction to her character is her repeating something that Vader just killed a guy for and getting away with it because she was right. And more than that, Vader *knows* that she is the kind of person who will tell it to him straight regardless of his anger.
He knows she doesn't make excuses, she just tells him how it is, and he made it clear he respects her for it. Going off their established relationship and the traits they've demonstrated, she doesn't have a reason to run, nor does he have a reason to hurt her.
Could have made for a very interesting arc if she'd stuck around.

Vader was in constant agony since the day Palpatine locked him on that armor.

This is what sickens me about the villains in Star Wars. So willingly to kill those simply for failing. Failure is bound to happen and by killing them they are denied the chance to learn from their mistakes and improve themselves. This is one of the reasons I enjoyed reading about Darth Bane, he never killed simply to vent frustration he only killed if there was a pragmatic purpose.

    • @Deridus

That's precisely why I loved Thrawn. Traits he wanted in subordinates: Initiative, quick thinking, willingness to learn, and dedication to duty. To think, if only he hadn't fucked with the Noghri and Rukh in particular, he'd have survived the Last Command... that, or just level the rebels 's camp on Lothal like he did on Atalon... Serious lack of strategic thinking on his part there.

@@Deridus with Trawn it's different because he must deliver results and he can't do it alone, that's why his tactic is intellectual rather than impulsive, Vader is his superior, he has more freedom to do what he wants without great consequence. When he's not in his bacta tank he's commanding troops, as far as I know he never just goes to a public place like a bar or a restaraunt or any type of social gathering
There was a comic where a crazy imperial lab tech had an obsession with vader, and she kind of stood in his way hoping he would notice her and he just tossed her asside with the force. My best guess is greeting Vader would kind of be like poking a bear that has no interest in you. It will probably ignore you but you probably don't want to engage with it at all

Much of this depends upon the Sith Lord. All of them demanded excellence, but not all demanded unrelenting perfection. Darth Zannah failed Darth Bane at various points, but he would weigh his decided punishment with the knowledge that he might have failed as a teacher in that instance. Neither Sidious nor Vader actually expected unrelenting perfection, but they did expect high levels of competence, therefore failures were punished with severity.

I dunno about you, but it seems Vader is far more merciful to Female Officers than to male ones.
I know there are more men than women in the empire, but we often see officers that Vader either goes “soft” on or rather teaches them certain things and leaves them at that, but rarely has it been a man.
We see this woman, then the next dark skin one with him being his new officer for a short time. I’ve seen this before as well. He’s befriended a male officer and had high respect for another one, but it seems he lets the female officers off easier.

Vader is just a " public face," of Anakin Skywalker.
Women around "Anakin" tend to have a habit of dying don't they ?
The legends Young Jedi series, and Clone War novel, Anakin can't seem to keep people alive around him.
In one book before Anakin became "knighted," he and other Jedi were sent to rescue a group of senators . He met a female senator that reminded him of his mother, and she died taking a blaster hit instead of him. He would have also been shot down, but the droid had "bad maintenance " and the droid weapon failed to fire a second time.
He just stood in shock for a moment, from the junk shop and all his time at the Jedi Temple, he has been a droid maintenance worker, and he was still alive cause of shoddy maintenance. Unprofessional work ethic.
He then killed all the droids in the room and hallway, even the senators protocol droids.
