NeZha-Yeah, when I remembered all that Vader had done in his life-his redemption by killing someone who was gonna kill his own kid seems a little less heroic than true redemption. Even killing the emperor and ending the very evil that he himself helped create he still personified the term “irredeemable.” When you weigh everything that Vader had done in his entire life one hoped that Luke would use that moment of weakness to torture him and then send him to hell to show him how painful betrayal can be which is something Vader was well known for in his life. Star Wars morality is total bullshit 💩Vader deserved to fade into nothingness. I mean, what’s next in Hollywood? A story about how a child molester finds redemption by saving one kid? According to George Lucas that was the point of that statement. The Jedi were so blinded by arrogance that they didn't think they were anything like the Sith, when in reality they didnt think that for balance there must be both light and dark force users

I agree that both the sith and Jedi were needed to die so that a more balanced group could ride. And if you think of it kylo uses both the light and dark but is more leaned on the dark and Ray is the reverse. The rules of teaching someone that there are two sides of the force is right and wrong. I like to think that of the force was you cutting a onion the dark side is the pressure you need to cut the onion but the light is the handling of the knife so you can cut each layer and so you don't end up hurting yourself
Anakin wanted to be the chosen one so rather than mace ending it once and for all and having everyone recognize him as the chosen one. He cut off windus hand, exterminated the Jedi and killed sidious 23 years later so he could be the one to destroy the sith for good

The humility of Obi-Wan in Vader's final moments and the speed of his course correction is so admirable. He knew he was so objectively wrong, and had the decency to let go of his negative emotions on the matter. A true Jedi Master.
That explains a lot. I think back to their dialogue exchange before they fight on Mustafar and I notice that the entire time, all Obi Wan did was criticize and verbally attack him. Never once showing that he still believed in him. Which might have pushed Anakin more over the edge to the point of fighting him on Mustafar. I kind of wonder what would have happened if he told him how he loved him like a brother BEFORE they fought.
B3fore they fought, Anakin kinda choked his pregnant wife in front of Obi Wan. So.., er.., fair enough it would've been pretty hard for Obi Wan to say these words.
@@drugaddicter I mean, to be fair. It is a horrific thing what Anakin did, force-choking his pregnant wife, and there is no justification for that at all. However, we must remember why he reacted so violently. That was because Obi-Wan showed up at the worst possible moment. He appeared on the ramp and posing as if he were super-man or something. Remember what he said: Anakin: You're with him! You brought him here to kill me! So, while Anakin was already angry to a degree, what really set him off was Obi-Wan appearing on Padme's ship. I supposed I seem to be justifying Anakin's behavior. But I'm not. I admit that this was one of the most horrific things he's done. But we have to understand why he snapped the way he did
@Nikita Larionov Anakin-Vader was a damn psycho and paranoid and became jealous as f*ck. He knew fully well he was in over his head after he had butchered those younglings so he became extremely suspicious of everyone. Obi Wan had done nothing bad to him by that point and yet Anakin's a*s (or the Force, if you will) told him that he was gonna end up in big trouble because of him, and knowing that he developed enourmous amount of anger and rained it down on Padme. Obi Wan's only mistake here was sneaking into Padme's ship instead of facing Anakin openly. Let alone that wasn't a jedi way, it was simply stupid and also uncivilised. But what is done cannot be undone so oh well.
@@drugaddicter Like I said, I don't justify Anakin's actions. What he did was horrific, the slaughter of the jedi and younglings, along with choking his wife, cannot be justified. And I say this as someone who has Anakin as one of his favorite characters. And it's pretty obvious that Anakin/Vader on Mustafar was off his mind. It's pretty obvious his mind, well. Basically snapped, most likely Now, Obi-Wan. You would think that one of the smartest jedi in the order, and I'm pretty sure many people can agree that Obi-Wan was very intelligent, with a few moments of lapse of judgement (going undercover without informing Anakin, going to Mandalore by himself to rescue Satine, the whole Ahsoka trial). But aside from these, Obi-Wan was depicted to be one of the most intelligent jedi. So, I fail to see how Obi-Wan thought having Padme, who's pregnant, talk to Anakin and then show up, would have been a good idea. I thought it would have made more sense, in relation to Obi-Wan's character, to come out and confront Anakin. This makes sense, as this would protect Padme from any potential harm, and make Anakin focus on him, not on Padme
That's what's happening in Vader/Anakin's head while he's watching Luke get shocked. Obi-Wan: "Good, Anakin, good. Kill him. Kill him now." Anakin: "I shouldn't..." Obi-Wan: "Dew it." Anakin: "It's not the Sith wa- Oh wait, yeah it is." *yeets Palpy*

I really like that, I always thought that it was weird that Qui-gon, Yoda, and Obi-wan had to search and train to be force ghosts but Anakin just got it. Knowing that it was Obi-wan that taught him that as a way of forgiveness and saving his friend, it really makes it a complete story for me.

chasm671 Disney doesn’t claim that Rey is the chosen one either. Anakin did bring balance, as he says in Rise of Skywalker, but it was never said to be permanent. Without Anakin, there would have never been balance and evil would have won.

"Anakin is the chosen one, he brought balance to the force by breaking the chain of turmoil brought on by the Sith. Anakin, with Luke his son as the catalyst, changed the galaxy forever for the better." *DISNEY HAS JOINED THE CHAT*
The concept of Obi-Wan and possibly also Yoda having to process Anakin actually coming back to the light when they tought it impossible is quite interesting, and I also find it really wholesome how the answer to "how did he get a Force Ghost" was basicly Obi-Wan just being a bro
@Reckoning, exactly! However, once you've started down that path of redemption; once your friends have begun to see the penitence, it becomes easier for others to forgive. At the same time, it is ultimately up to those souls who are no longer in the Living Force to forgive him, seeing his change of heart. It won't bring them back. You can't change the past. All you can do is change how you think about it. All you can ever do is realize people are just doing the best they know how; that there is some intent they believe is important to them, and that you were just an innocent bystander or in the wrong place at the wrong time, but there is a reason for you to be involved.
Everyone always forgets that no matter what you have done or how evil it was,you are worthy of redemption. Luke simply showed love and compassion to vader. He gave him the forgiveness he was so desperately looking for. Something the jedi should have practiced and preached. Instead they turned their back on him and showed their true colors. Arrogance and clueless. The jedi were unknowingly just as evil as the sith. This is why Yoda and Obi-Wan both exiled themselves.
I really depends on which character you are talking about, cuz there are enough characters out there that are far beyond redemption no matter what they do
This does sound kind of contradictory. In Return Of The Jedi when Vader and Luke are talking on Endor, Vader says: "Obi-Wan once thought as you do". Despite this, we never actually see Obi-Wan having any faith that Anakin can come back. Perhaps more on this will be explored in the Kenobi series?
Obi-Wan *did* think that way though, for a short time while dueling on Mustafar. There were a few moments where he held out hope, and tried to pull Anakin back from the brink (The infamous "Chancellor Palpatine is evil!" bit, for example.)
I think Vader was referring to before the end of their duel on Mustafar. Obi Wan up until he had to cut Anakins legs off tried to talk him down any chance he got. It was only after he looked upon Vaders burning body and felt only the rage coming from him he thought Anakin was gone
Absolutely love this. Finally a proper end to the story of their friendship. Always thought that it needed more of a ending and that really is the perfect ending to the story of the 2
The way I look at this is, (from a certain point of view)... The deeper aspect is that Plagueis and Sidious did _unbalance_ the Force. If you think of a top spinning with energy keeping it spinning. What happens when you push the top is, it warbles a little, but it brings things back into balance because of that energy. What they actually did was flip the top. The bottom of the top would have a bb or a bearing in the center of the tip it spins on, but the top of it would only be wood or the handle. Time slows, but nature is sped up and distorted into a much lower vibration. Darkness feeds darkness and light feeds the darkness, much like Abeloth drinking from the Fountain of Knowledge and bathing in the Well of Darkness, she saw herself becoming more beautiful, but to others, she became an abomination. What Anakin did was flip the top back, right side up. Luke was the catalyst in doing that, but it is only temporary if Sidious is successful in getting his strength back. He's been trying by siphoning the Force out of Younglings but that only sustains his life. If he had only died, Luke could've cut himself off from the Force after RotJ, but Operation Cinder was the first clue Darkness still had its hold, that Sidious somehow survived or that there was another threat. Luke had to continue - rebuild the Jedi Order. If Sidious could find one or two powerful enough with the Force, he could possibly siphon their life force and become strong enough, rejuvenate himself even to an unnatural, younger self. Is that why he wants Baby Yoda? Is he also drawing in the last Skywalker with Snoke?
@@MrGrimjaw I keep hearing people say this as if it is a justification for what they are doing. people fucking hated it in legends too. But at least it was more fleshed out then coming out of nowhere like he seemingly is in RoS.
@@MrGrimjaw yeah, and we hated it in legends too, but atleast it had a backstory instead of him coming out of nowhere also wasnt it not even the real palpatine?
Damn.... I find it really cool that even as an elderly force ghost Obi-wan still has lessons to learn. Also, Obi-wan and Yoda being completely unable to fathom the possibility of Vader having some good left in him ties in really well with the very flawed and dogmatic Jedi order we see in the prequels. Despite the cheesy moments I honestly think the prequels were pretty well done and that they did a good further developing the themes and subtler ideas of the originals. The prequels also made Luke much more of a badass, he's like the synthesis of the Jedi's monastic, distant love and the Sith's burning, attached love; Luke is the balance. It's a shame we'll never get to see that character on the big-screen.
Everytime I see the scene after Vader saves Luke from Palpatine, I always wonder what's going through that minds of the all the Storm Troopers and the other officers when they see Luke and Vader. At this point there has to be at least a few people who know about Luke, that he was Public Enemy #1 and that the Empire had been after him for a while. All the troops and personnel are fleeing to get off the Death Star before it blows. As everyone is running in one direction, you have Luke basically carrying an obviously severely injured Vader in the opposite direction. It would probably be pretty clear that Luke is trying to get himself and Vader to safety, and not acting in a way an escaped prisoner would. There would have to be more than a few of them seeing it and thinking "what the hell is going with them? Why is Public Enemy #1 trying to save the person that to this point has been trying to kill him" (since none would have seen what happened before that point when Vader saved Luke from the emperor. There just have been more than a little cognitive dissonance going on.
I bet nobody would give a sh*t about Vader at this point. All they knew that Death Star was going to explode and that was all you could possibly concern about had you been in their place, how to save your own skin.
lol Whether anyone on Death Star 2 knew who Luke was or not, after twenty years serving under Vader, rule No. 1 is: don't mess with anyone wearing a lightsaber.

I wish in episode 6 when Vader dies we could of seen a scene where Obi-Wan reaches out to him from the netherworld of the force and teaches Anakin the force power of being a ghost and we see Anakin join him. We see more of his redemption. Obviously this concept was created after episode 6 was made and i assume George Lucas never thought of it.
This reminds me of the time when Zuko asked his uncle for forgiveness and his uncle was never angry but was sad that his nephew lost his way. That moment would always stop me in my tracks. It so touching.
They have a lot in common. Both were very powerful and manipulated by a father figure, disfigured by fire committing evil deeds before someone was there to believe in them enough to redeem them.
Anakin, 20-some-odd years after the fact: "Son of a bitch, Obi-Wan was right. Might as well take myself out with Palpatine then, I don't wanna live in a world where Obi-Wan is right."
One still has the chance to redeem themselves for their wrong choices in life. That’s the revelation in all of this. I still feel like his story arc could’ve been better in the prequel trilogy, but the character’s path from fallen hero, to villain, and back again to the light was pretty inspiring.
ILostMyAccuracy 30 years isn’t long and there was the first order a few years ago. It is meaningless why try to killing your self for ending the Empire’s way when it’ll be replaced probably 20-25 years later and Palpatine coming back 30 years after his death. Making his sacrifice wasted cause he didn’t bring balance to the force cause of Kylo and Snoke coming back not long after his death and didn’t really end the Empire cause it became the First Order. Rey ended everything, not Anakin (Darth Vader), she kills Palpatine, destroys the Final Order, and destroys the Sith Planet, making sure that there won’t be anymore Sith until maybe after a 100 more years or longer.
@@Shizilol Disney’s sequel trilogy undid all the work that the Rebel Alliance worked so hard to accomplish. They also made the entire point of Episode 6 meaningless, as Anakin’s sacrifice was ultimately pointless. At least in Legends, it was Anakin Skywalker’s son who killed a reborn Palpatine instead of some random unrelated chick from a desert planet. However, I still never really enjoyed Legends’ Dark Empire series because they brought back Palpatine in it. I don’t care how he’s brought back. He was never meant to be brought back at all, be it Canon or Legends. Not only that, but the New Republic was never destroyed in Legends. They suffered many devastating defeats, yes. But they were never outright destroyed like in canon, & were easily able to recover from their defeats in Legends as well. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy many things from Canon, but the sequel trilogy is NOT one of them.

Anakin wasn't in his right mind when he did all those things. His mind and soul were being clouded by the Dark Side. And "shockey boy" was the most evil man to have ever existed.
Padme told Obi-Wan that there was still good in him. It’s Obi-Wan’s fault that he chose not to believe it; but at the same time, it’s understandable why Obi-Wan didn’t take Padme’s last words seriously

That is so wholesome. Thank you for this
That explains a lot.
Remember what he said:
Anakin: You're with him!
Basically snapped, most likely
Now, Obi-Wan.
@Nikita Larionov Yeah, Obi Wan should've come out first. No hiding behind Padme.

@@samueljohnson9723, forgiveness is also a very personal experience.
There are many parts and paths to forgiveness and it is a path to redemption. It begins, oftentimes at a personal level.

@@didimean it was done in legends

Seeing that moment, the moment when Obi-Wan forgave Anakin and even seeked him out within the Force after his death, would be incredible.

@@Shizilol So the Disney says
@@Shizilol what are you talking about? who is rey and kylo? must be fan fiction
To me this represents the power of a Father's Love no matter what is going through his mind his heart or his soul when it comes to your child there is no force that can overtake you or stop you from saving your child
this hits harder after the kenobi series final, love your channel glad you don't clock bait like starwars comics
"No one's ever really gone."
This was an awesome story and eye opening. I really enjoyed this explanation. It’s not very often that I am completely entertained, but I’ve never read that Obi-Wan story.
Darth vader: *kills countless men, women, children, and whole planets. Killed Jedi who were done being Jedi, caused countless suffering and tragedy across the galaxy*. *throws one shockey boy down a shaft and is immediately redeemed*
seems legit
To be fair, shocky boy was basically Satan
Anakin wasn't in his right mind when he did all those things. His mind and soul were being clouded by the Dark Side.
And "shockey boy" was the most evil man to have ever existed.

Once again, we see that the master not only teaches the student, they also learn from the student. That is how it always goes.
Padme told Obi-Wan that there was still good in him. It’s Obi-Wan’s fault that he chose not to believe it; but at the same time, it’s understandable why Obi-Wan didn’t take Padme’s last words seriously
That was a good reading, insightful, thank you for providing an overall level of entertainment and knowledge that has far surpassed episodes 8 & 9.
I hope we get something like this towards the end of the Kenobi series...
Kathleen Kennedy: “I’m about to end Vader’s entire arc”
Can you guys stop spreading this nonsense idea that Disney somehow ruined Anakin's ark? Anakin did full fill the prophecy and brought balance to the force.... the prophecy didn't say that the balance would last forever. Even in Legends the Sith returned.
@@notnero5280 Anakin brought balance to the Force by destroying Palpatine, ending the Sith.
Bringing him back means he didn't bring balance to the Force. His sacrifice was pointless thanks to Disney.
But it doesn't really matter, the Disney sequels will never be canon to me.
@@notnero5280 Resurrecting Palpatine does ruin the entire point of Vader’s sacrifice. They could’ve just as easily made it a different Sith Lord for Rey to fight, & learn from the mistake that Legends’ Dark Empire made. But instead, they chose to make Palpatine return, meaning that Vader never actually killed Palpatine, meaning that all the progress that the Rebel Alliance made was for nothing.
I got to say, your videos improved a lot. I used to be annoyed by the bad audio quality as well as the countless repetitions of the same points and phrases, while the subjects you talked about were always very interesting to me. Now the videos are really nice and short. So, keep up the good work!
Idc how evil my friend has become by the dark side I couldn’t watch him burn😞
