my two cents: why cast someone who is famous when there are other people out there who have the talent and experience and training already that are just dying to make it to broadway but haven't gotten their break yet
While I understand your point, there can be benefits to “stunt casting” such as this, because it draws attention (whether it’s good or bad) to the show, and casting someone who already has a following can generate thousands of dollars worth of free advertising, which is something that other, lesser-known actors cannot give. I'd like to think that he put some work in to prepare, but I would also expect that the company puts time and money into helping him succeed
idk man, I feel if you your acting and singing aren't Broadway level (yet) you shouldn't accept a (leading!!!) role in a Broadway musical. Of course if it can get you more money and fame it's a tempting choice but if that's what you value above your integrity and respect for the craft than that just shows what type of person you are. Broadway shouldn't have casted someone with not enough skills, but it's not like Cameron had no choice but to accept.

anyways stan Hannah Bayles what an angel omg, it was so interesting to see what a vocal coach had to say about this, and it actually does make sense. The decision to cast someone who isn't in a place where his vocals are sufficient, and then not make the effort to support him and improve his performance worsens the experience for most of the people involved. If they had even improved his techniques and/or tweaked his track a little to better suit his voice, it wouldn't have been such a bad experience for the audience, the cast, and him. Thanks for posting this, it really gave a new perspective!
I saw him perform too! I had to bury my head into my friend’s shoulder because I couldn’t stop laughing and didn’t want to disrupt everyone around me. My whole friend group couldn’t keep it together!

Hannah Bayles yes!! Also like when they had Colleen Belanger and Todric Hall In waitress!! Both had grown up training in theater and had been in many productions! Why couldn’t they have literally gotten anyone else who was at the VERY least somewhat accustomed to theater and singing and acting!???
Just to add: Jordin Sparks “stunt casting” in Waitress (most recently, which I saw and loved) and In The Heights (few years ago). Very successful and a great way to show how it should be done.
I really appreciate how you're always so kind in your reactions! While there's stuff we could talk about here and be not so nice, you comment so nicely as an educator and constructively!

Not to be horrible, but like, I think I sing this better and I’m an untrained soprano who has never been in a show, but I can just ~keep the pitch~ (Not saying I sound good, but that’s just my voice)
yeah i havnt done much singing apart from school choir and of course performing musicals in my room, never been on stage but.. i can sing better.. probably.. maybe..
i saw him live and people in the audience were literally low key laughing and i felt so bad cause obvi his vocals were definitely not at the same level as anyone of other broadway actors so it just makes him sound a lot worse than he is

You're awesome Hannah! Would love to see you react to Erika Henningsen now! Her Broadway bucket list video is AMAZING and something a little different from Mean Girls :)
you know hannah..you'll be a great cady..your voice is absolutely perfect for this role...plus the fact you have red hair while not really important is kind of a bonus given that original cady in the movie had red hair too.
I have to commend her skills in stage chemistry. It is an individual skill as well as a collaborative one. She is amazing at playing off of him and what he's giving her (and playing off of it differently than what others would).
This video was something that resonated so strong with me because of the most recent show I performed in. We did a British style pantomime of Cinderella and in our version was everything from modern songs (such as Michael Bublé, Bruno Mars, etc.) as well as some more classical songs (such as Bippity boppity boo from Disney’s Cinderella, and Sisters Sisters from White Christmas). The males that were in our show were not particularly strong singers, they can sing but are not strong singers. Unfortunately what had ended up happening in our production was we wer focusing so much on blocking during our first two months (of a total of 4 months of rehearsal time) that we didn’t get a chance to go over songs until the last two months of rehearsal. Our female singers were very strong and quite honestly did not need very much vocal rehearsal to get to where we wanted to be. Unfortunately again what we ended up doing was focusing on choreography and Blocking as some of us felt that was our weakness, rather than taking the time we needed to get to where we wanted vocally. In conclusion what had ended up as a result, was decent singing with some timing, rhythm, projection and pitch problems, that I personally feel could have been fixed with just spending a little extra time (be it while others were rehearsing and finding a separate space to rehearse the music! Or even taking a few minutes afterward to practice vocally.) to make our production vocally stronger. For the next production, our director decided to hold a auditions much earlier in the year (not sure what the plan is now) and spend the first two months exclusively on vocals, I’m not sure if it is the best solution or not, but I am hopeful and excited to see what that change might bring. Welcome to my TED talk

I, a fourteen year old girl with no training, sing Aaron's part better than him.
Same!!! At least I won’t sound flat
My friends say I’m the Cameron Dallas of Musical Theatre, but I really know damn well I would sound way better than him and i’m 15😭🤚🏾
@@brandonwilliamss aw that’s not very nice of her. I’m sure you’re good, just gotta keep practicing!
I completely agree. If the Mean Girls production came offering a Broadway role and money, who would say no. Cameron wasn't good. But also, that's probably 10% his fault, 90% the productions fault for the lack of support.
Yeah I can't blame him for taking the role. For him, it was probably a great business choice, and maybe he's a broadway fan (but I don't know anything about him)? I'd like to think that he put some work in to prepare, but I would also expect that the company puts time and money into helping him succeed
idk man, I feel if you your acting and singing aren't Broadway level (yet) you shouldn't accept a (leading!!!) role in a Broadway musical. Of course if it can get you more money and fame it's a tempting choice but if that's what you value above your integrity and respect for the craft than that just shows what type of person you are. Broadway shouldn't have casted someone with not enough skills, but it's not like Cameron had no choice but to accept.
Oh my god. HAHAHAGA I can’t even with your face of “wtf” at the beginning. Anyways, please look into doing anything from & Juliet or even prince of Egypt the musical. I love them. ANYWAYS. Have a great day!!!!!
&juliet yes!!!
i love & juliet so much especially with grace
& JULIET YES YES YESSSSSS
anyways stan Hannah Bayles what an angel omg, it was so interesting to see what a vocal coach had to say about this, and it actually does make sense.
Ngl Erika just wanted Kyle back
Hold up, is your pfp Jaime Lyn Beatty?
Saffron Warren yessir
I love your pfp lmao
Ngl we all just wanted Kyle back
I was so glad when I saw kyle was in her last show
you should react to world burn comparison of all the different Regina's interpretations.
Yes!
You can tell through Erika’s eyes during the scenes is like: I want my boyfriend back -_-
I haven't fully watched the video yet but I saw him live and oh my god it wasn't good
i am so sorry you had to pay actual money to that.
@@taimariemoore8369 I was soooo happy they cut his part in Someone Gets Hurt. I love that song and was so worried it was gonna get ruined
I saw him perform too! I had to bury my head into my friend’s shoulder because I couldn’t stop laughing and didn’t want to disrupt everyone around me. My whole friend group couldn’t keep it together!
The fact that Erika had two adapt and change what she was doing to fit around him is just 👏 such a queen
How?
they already cut his part out of someone gets hurt so i dont think they wanted to cut even more
Please react to Samantha Pauly's "All You Wanna Do" from Six: The Musical (Broadway/Chicago). She's incredible!
I need a word with the casting director because there could’ve been so many different stunt casts they could’ve done
When he starting singing... oop.
On another note, I'd love to see you react to something from Heathers! (Beautiful, Candy Store, Dead Girl Walking are some of my personal favs!)
Fight for me is also G R E A T
please do an actual reaction to Erika Henningson (maybe her singing It Roars or Stupid With Love)
You should react to Colleen Ballinger in Waitress and Dove Cameron in Light in the Piazza when were on the topic of stunt casting.
new drinking game: take a shot everytime she had to say "little squeezy"
Haha!! I guess “A little squeezy” feels nicer than “tense as hell”. 🤭
When he was in the show they completely dropped his harmony at the end of Someone Gets Hurt and Renee did it by herself
I was horrified listening to that. Still recovering
JNB Brothers
How is your recovery
Renee did such an amazing job with it as well
@sallymorrison4912 have you fully recovered yet?
is no one gonna talk about “you are like a clone of Regina!” like,,, no energy, no effort, no passion at all. it didn’t sound like he was coming to a realization, it sounded like a line in a script. tHATS NOT HOW YOU ACT
people who follow her tiktok definitely clicked SUPER FAST
can confirm. i knew the tea was a-comin
@@ceruleanhearts7604 STARKID PFP I see u 💅 iconic
@@ceruleanhearts7604 he's a-comin, who's a-comin? Paul's a-comin, the star of the show :))
@@minceroft3710 let him come!
The one dislike is the mean girls casting team.
Stunt casting can be done really well, like with Sabrina Carpenter. She can actually sing really well. But Cameron Dallas?
No..........
Stunt casting is usually GOOD! Jason Mraz in waitress? Yes! Sabrina Carpenter in mean girls? Yes! But this?? I just don’t get it. 🤦🏻♀️
Ariella Waters periodt.
@@ariellawaters8800 Zac was never on Broadway?
Just to add: Jordin Sparks “stunt casting” in Waitress (most recently, which I saw and loved) and In The Heights (few years ago). Very successful and a great way to show how it should be done.
I really appreciate how you're always so kind in your reactions! While there's stuff we could talk about here and be not so nice, you comment so nicely as an educator and constructively!
“I love Erika.”
same girl
Erika in this video: A professional Broadway actress that had lots of training
Cameron in this video: One of the cast members in Illegal Heathers (Not Chandler, Scarf Boy, and Fleming)
lmao ✨scarf boy✨
You look like Idina Menzel and Phillipa Soo put together
Omg yess
I’m so used to my toxic choir teacher that I’m shocked at how nicely you handled this.
Not to be horrible, but like, I think I sing this better and I’m an untrained soprano who has never been in a show, but I can just ~keep the pitch~
(Not saying I sound good, but that’s just my voice)
untrained soprano squaddddd!!! (and I bet you sound gorgeous!)
Honestly, it’s not even rude because basically ANYONE could sing better than him 😂 and I’m sure you’re great!
yeah i havnt done much singing apart from school choir and of course performing musicals in my room, never been on stage but.. i can sing better.. probably.. maybe..
i’m also an untrained soprano (i’ve been in a few shows but never as leads) and i would do better than him staying in the key
He sounds like one of the 5 boys in every highschool production
YOU SAID IT! YOU LITERALY SAID IT!!
i saw him live and people in the audience were literally low key laughing and i felt so bad cause obvi his vocals were definitely not at the same level as anyone of other broadway actors so it just makes him sound a lot worse than he is
They also cut his line in Someone Gets Hurt so it's just Renee singing to him and it's kinda awkward 😂
I'm so happy that you never really outright say singers are bad. I think it's a really good sign that you're an amazing coach! Whenever I get a coach, I hope I get one as inspiring as you!
This is my problem with publicity casting! You have such an empathetic heart and thought through the whole situation and i really appreciate that
I’ve been waiting for this one
Sis went OFF at the end there 😂
The constructive criticism you provide at the end is beautifully true, I love the optimistic angle you give the performance. ^^
You’re just so lovely 🥺
An Erika video would be very welcome...would love to hear your input on her strengths and how a performer can perform taxing roles like her Cady for so long....
You can see the pain in her eyes when he sings
On a more positive note, I would LOVE for you to react to Show Stopping Number from The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals! As always love ur content 💕
omg yes i love robert
@@taimariemoore8369 like omg what a man, what a range, what a voice, what a pair of HIPS, jesus the stamina he has wow
my name is reginald george i know especially the hips like and the fact that he can pull off any outfit he can go from leather jacket to flannel shirt.
I just love that they didn't let him sing in someone gets hurt.
They really let Reneé have that without him.
Also i was so glad when Kyle did Erika's last performance.
was waiting for this from tik tok lol
oh also, this performance is from January. not labeled with an exact date
Literally when I first him I just kept repeating flat, Flat, FLAT!!! 😂
You were so kind, Hannah. We need more of that on the internet.
came for the roast. stayed for the rant. I absolutely love this so much.
Someone start a petition to make her his official vocal coach
you should for sure do a full erika henningsen video. she’s so great.
i LOVE the rage in this!!!
i felt second hand embarrassment watching cameron lmao
I have to commend her skills in stage chemistry. It is an individual skill as well as a collaborative one. She is amazing at playing off of him and what he's giving her (and playing off of it differently than what others would).
I was literally gagging yesterday when I heard him singing, I was prepared for it to be bad but not THAT BAD
*Cameron starts singing*
Hannah: "Let's listen to that again"
Me: OH GOD NO.
YAY!! I saw your TikTok about Cameron and got so excited to see what you were gonna say
