Fun Fact: The trio we're listening to includes Rachel who is a Soprano, Santana who is a Mezzo, and Quinn who is a Contralto.

She is actually. The show just had her sing songs that were out of her comfortable register.
@@amoniwilliams9848 Comfortable range has nothing to do with voice type. Dianna had a small range to sing, she couldn't go too high and when she tried low notes she used fry like in "Control". She was a mezzo, her voice got deeper because she broke her nose. Dianna was mezzo. Her voice, even spoken, is quite light and feminine.
@@darrencriss5529 I don't know why but Quinn's voice was perfect for retro songs like Come see about me and others. It just fits that genre for some reason better than anyone else on the show. Don't get me wrong she can sing anything but for some reason when she sings songs like that it just hits harder.
For one of the best Glee harmonies, PLEASE check out "How Will I Know" - you get Santana, Mercedes, Rachel, and Kurt! They all sound phenomenal together, please cover this song!

Naya did the melody (the Sara Bareilles original key) while Lea did the upper harmony and Diana the low harmony. The music producers always put Naya on main voice while singing with Lea
I've always really liked this cover. The harmonies are so good and love that they all also have their own solo moments within the song. Such a shame this is the only time we get a trio performance of Rachel, Santana, and Quinn.
There will be songs when Rachel and Santana have duets, songs where Rachel and Quinn have solos in group performances, songs where Santana and Quinn have solos in a group performances, Quinn only having one duet with Santana, and Quinn also only having one duet with Rachel. But I really wish we would've got more trio performances with Santana, Rachel, and Quinn.

You do know that she was best friends with dianna agron in the first seasons so I highly doubt that. And even though at the end Lea and Naya had their differences they still are professionals. And they still had a lot of songs together at the time.
Quinn is just a harmony goddess. Her in I’m Still Standing with Artie is phenomenal

Quinn is my favorite, I love her voice but unfortunately she didn't have to many songs in the show
lea and dianna sang a mashup of “i feel pretty” from west side story and “unpretty” by TLC early on in the show. it’s one of the more underrated numbers from the OG cast, but it has always been one of my absolute favorite pieces they ever did. dianna didn’t get enough moments to shine.

I call this the frenimy trinity. This song has some of my favorite harmonies of the series
I love Quinn's voice as well. If you ever get to listen to "Saving all my love for you" it's one of my favorite duets featuring her. BTW- the harmonies in this are awesome. One of my favorite Glee performances hands down, along with anything by the Troubletones.
Who am I kidding? Glee had way too many great performances to use the word favorite, maybe I need to start saying standout performances.
I think what you hear in Dianna Agron’s voice is also what I love about it. The surgery to repair her deviated septum removed some of the nasal blockage, so a vocal “problem” is gone. But that just cleared the way for her natural voice which, when coupled with the habits of working around the nasal blockage, results in a type of intimacy in her vocal expression. It feels like she’s letting you in on something she normally doesn’t share, and it feels special when we get to hear her.

It would be very interesting to hear your thoughts on the glee version of “torn”. It’s Lea/Rachel singing a duet with the old version of her character. So she uses both her classic early seasons Rachel voice and her more bold later seasons voice. It’s really cool to listen to, and I’m sure there’s a lot to learn there! 😊

girl, we told you! lmao but really, this cover is amazing. those harmonies! and if i'm not mistaken, this is the only time they use this trifecta of voices and it's criminal. i know what you're talking about for quinn's voice, too: it reminds me of, like, a 1950's lounge singer or something. something very classic. also, if you want a quinn song (hell yes!), "come see about me" is fun
I love this trio so much, but in my opinion they only trio performance that could rival it is Shake It Off which is Santana, Mercedes and Tina

Some of the best harmonies Glee had was in Shake It Out that was sung mostly by Santana, Mercedes, and Tina such a good one to hear it deals with spousal abuse.

An excellent study in the change in Lea/Rachel’s voice is Torn where Rachel duets with her younger self. You can hear the difference and it’s phenomenal.
